I got my dress on clearance from Tradesy. You can easily find a sample sale or buy a sample from Bride Power, Last Minute Bride, etc. I bought my dress online after I tried it on in the store.
I paid $100 on sale rack from a boutique in Atlanta. I tried on $**** dresses all day until my sister picked up the one and said this is exactly what you want and it's $100. The dress was the floor model so I had to purchase extra tulle to replace some ripped pieces. But it was my dream dress and so worth it.
That's a great budget to work with! You'll have so many to choose from. If you keep yourself in check and keep your expectations realistic, you won't go over once you're in the salon. Seriously, Pinterest can be dangerous! We're a young couple so my budget was $800 TOTAL and my mom was on Pinterest looking at designer gowns for $3,000 and was ready to spend that much! I made a rule to only "pin" dresses in my price range...it meant a lot of sifting through scamming websites but I had a realistic idea of what kind of dress I would end up with. I was so lucky and I ended up finding my dream dress for $600 because it was discontinued two days before I tried it on and was 50% off. No one had even tried it on! SCORE! Sign up for all the emails, check the sales, and don't feel pressured to spend more than your budget by the stylist...you can find the one if you research!
I paid $1200 in total. That includes the $200 in alterations.

I got super lucky and fell in love with a dress that was a part of the $99 sale at DB, (originally $759). The sash actually cost more than the dress. After alterations I will be at about $450 total. I can't justify spending so much money on a dress I'm going to wear once. My mind is totally boggled right now reading the amounts some of these dresses have cost! Wow!! Ya'll are fancy :-)
A shameful amount. My advice (that I did not follow myself) is do not even try on anything that is over what you're comfortable spending. I thought "oh I'll try this dress on just for fun bc when else will I have the chance to put on a couture gown?" Never should've done that, because now it's sitting in my closet and I am horrified at how much I spent. After 90+ dresses, it was the only one that made my breath stick in my throat and gave me goose bumps.
$679. I wanted to keep it under $1000. Haven't done alterations yet but it doesn't need much just the bustle and taken in on the top a bit but mines a corset back
You don't even want to know ? I fell in love with my dress 2 years before my wedding so I had enough time to pay it off. Come to find out, there's a zillion places that offer reduced brand new dresses... Think Brides Against Breast Cancer. Also, I had a friend get married and she bought her dress at Goodwill. Brand new for $75
I spent $265 on mine! It was a discontinued sample dress, original price $1300! Alterations were $150 went to a neighbor that does dresses so it was much cheaper! The veil was my moms and I spent $15 to modernize it!
My was $1,750. I started with a budget like yours but I wanted something with unique detailing and it is so worth it! But I would recommend looking at discontinued/sale dresses as well as destination wedding dresses for a lower price - depending on the style you are looking for.
I found "the" dress in Chicago, but it was $2,100 (before tax and shipping!)... so I found a salon at home who carried the same designer (Sophia Tolli)... they were able to order it for me for $1698.
