I spent $1200 on my dress, and $235 for alterations and getting it steamed before the wedding night. I am a plus size bride and wanted something that was AMAZING. Set your budget, but be open minded if you can. You do not want to regret your decision over a price tag.

I got my dress for $600! I found a private boutique that only had dresses under $2000. After the dress, veil, and belt it was $1200. I'm in the Seattle area.
Girl you can absolutely get something stunning for $1,200 or under. I got mine for $550 and it's beautiful. But then again I'm not for fancy designer dresses or anything...depends on your own unique style/preferences. Anything you get though will be perfection on you!!! good luck
Mine was $650 from BHLDN, plus another $250 for the sashes. I only need moderate alterations, so I'm expecting that to be under $100. Altogether I think I'll be just around the $1,000 range, which was what I was hoping. I also
Loved that with BHLDN I could order different dresses in different sizes and just return what didn't fit. Super simple and great to work with!
Mine was $1303 after taxes and a $300 discount for buying on my first visit. Alterations pricing tbd... lol but the seamstress is someone I've know forever so I don't expect to be shell shocked.
$1600, and then found a beautiful veil that was handmade for me on Etsy for $60!!!! My alterations were only $75, so all in all - I didn't think it was expensive at all My dress is Allure Bridal and absolutely PERFECT!!
$74.99 on sale from Modcloth! I can wear it for the ceremony and go straight to the reception afterward. It's also a very lovely dress for fancy nights so I get to use it whenever!
I had a budget of 1600 and the dress I fell in love with happened to be on sale, BONUS! Actually discontinued so I got it for 800.00. I was happy because I spend the additional savings on a upgraded photographer.
Mine was $900 but I haven't done the alterations or accessories yet. It was a sample from the shop, so it was discounted by $400 so maybe see if the store would be willing to do something like that if you find a gown you love that's out of your budget.
I was blesses to attend a brides for cancer bridal dress sale...I got my dress for under 400. It is gorgeous...I won a lot of raffle prizes as well. It was well worth going
Maggie Sottero is one of the best designers for amazing dresses below $2000! Her gowns are available at TONS of bridal stores and are great quality. I was shocked I was able to find so many fully beaded and embellished gowns for around $1500. Please keep in mind alterations will likely be up to $600 so even if the price tag says $1200, it will be way more in the end.
So my plan was to buy the dress I loved (originally $1400) on a pre-owned wedding dress site for $750. Right before buying it online, I went back to the store to try it on and make sure it was the one, when I actually found THE ONE, and bought that instead for a little less than $1500. I wanted to spend less than 1K but my heart wasn't letting that dress go. You should totally be good with a 1200 budget, but definitely keep in mind the alterations and additional items you may want (belt, veil, etc.)
My dress was $400 - Mon Cheri. The retail value of the dress is actually $1800 but I got it off OnceWed.com. I went into David's Bridal, got a feel for which silhouette looked best on my shape, and then ordered a dress with the same silhouette from this once-worn wedding dress site.
And truth be told, my dress wasn't even worn once. Unfortunately, the lady who sold me her dress did not go through with her wedding.
It just so happens, that once I tried this dress on, I liked it even better than the similar one that I'd tried on in-store! I did not want to take this dress off once I had it on! I was leery about ordering my wedding dress offline, but I do not regret it one bit! So excited to wear it in March I'll come back and post pictures after the big day (if I remember). I love my dress.
I also found a veil that I loved at David's Bridal. Retail price for it is $189. Went on Tradesy.com, OnceWed.com, Amazon, and Ebay and found multiple listings of this same veil. I ordered one from Ebay that had (accidentally) never been worn, and paid $75 for it.
I went into my wedding dress search with a budget of $1000, but the only dresses I found in that price range were from David's, which while beautiful, didn't compare to the quality and feel of other bridal designers I tried. My Allure gown was about $1400, alterations included. Veil and accessories were another $800, and my corset to go underneath was about $100. Also, I did try on some Mori Lee gowns and many were priced within your budget, so as long as your $1200 is for dress only and not everything you're gonna have on that day, you should be fine
I got a discontinued sample Aria champagne colored with lace overlay dress in perfect condition for $300. It needs minimal alterations and allow me to spend more elsewhere!
