If I rememeber right mine was about $1000. Then another $100 ish for alterations. All together with taxes it was all under $1500.
That was about what my budget was. It's totally possible to find a dress you love for under $1200 as long as you don't care about the designer and just care about the look.
I'm in the process of ordering mine and its only like $900 absolutely love it. I got it at Renfro's https://www.theknot.com/marketplace/renfros-bridal-shop-placerville-ca-632141

Mine was 99 and all precedes went to breast cancer. I was told by expensive places I'd never find the dress I was envisioning and at a Bridesagainstbreast function I found it! Www.bridesagainstbreastcancer.com
$475, I got it on tradesy used! The exact same dress was at David's bridal for $974 plus I had to pay $300 for alterations. I spent 4 months searching used websites to find that dress. Plus the prior owner was the same size as me and paid for all the same alterations go used!!!!
We bought our wedding dresses at David's Bridal. One was $449 and one was $699. Alterations were $300 total. Don't forget to add that in to your budget, as well as tax and cost for a slip if needed.
In hopes of getting more bang for my buck, I went to a sample sale. There's 1 bridal salon that caters to curvy brides in the DMV area. I'm a street size 12/14 so I figured I find something. I got my dress for $1500. I saved almost $700. The dress fits like a glove, the $700 I saved will go to veil shoes etc!
Mine was 1350.00 after tax and will probably be 300.00 for alterations. I got a 150.00 credit for my veil and was able to change out the sash it came with to a swarovski crystal belt for free.
My dress was $1800 by Maggie Sottero. Sash and veil added about $300. Alterations were about $650, which included a difficult scallop lace hem, taking in fabric in a few areas, and a bustle. I do think $1200 will be fine, depending on your taste. That was my initial budget and I couldn't find what i wanted, but I was very picky and specific. Just don't forget to budget for gown accessories and alterations
$399 for the dress, $110 for alterations, $60 slip--and instead of paying $200 for a sash at David's Bridal we bought rhinestone embellishments on esty for $60 and made our own sash. I still feel like a princess in my dress despite not spending very much. Oh, and I'm wearing my mother's veil. Good luck!
