$600.00 and then when I bought the lace jacket that was $150. Just stick to your budget and make sure that's the first thing you tell them!
Before you read on, I AM A HUGE FAN OF RE-PURPOSING ITEMS, so hopefully this gives you some ideas too if you end up spending over your budget! Paid $2000 for my dress in New Orleans - I'd hate to only wear it once like so many usually do, so I'm having it cut to a cocktail style dress for our 1 year anniversary to wear for when we celebrate, and I'm having the trimmings remade into christening gowns for our future children. The only alterations needed were for length in the front, so I saved a good bit there - I'll be using the extra lace to make my honeymoon lingerie too. I paid $275 for my shoes on Zappos.com which I'll be using frequently for Mardi Gras balls we attend, and $250 for fingertip veil - probably much cheaper to have it made (you can find tulle at any fabric store or do a DIY birdcage veil) and ask them to use details from your dress trimmings to match. I also have a sash to accentuate my waist for $325 - using that on my daughter's first communion dress when the time comes. Don't forget to consider your undergarment expense too - I paid about $150 for all of my items (corset/seamless underwear/garter), but the corset is a nice quality, and I'll definitely be using it under my ball gowns. Overall I think it was money well spent considering it's the best day of your life, the multiple uses and making sentimental family items. Congrats and hope this helps!
Mine was $700 from David's Bridal's Oleg Cassini line plus $300 for alteration to get it taken in, hemmed, and bustled. That is about the same budget that I had going in.
Around $900 from Allure but then I had a custom belt and matching head piece made that only made it go up to $1,400. No alterations necessary because of the silhouette of the dress.
I'm definitely a bride on a budget and dreaded the thought of spending money on a dress is only wear for a few hours. I tried lower end dress stores and was very disappointed. The poor quality was obvious in photos (always take pics to see how you photograph in the dress- the mirror is not enough) I reluctantly scheduled an appt at a small boutique in Downtown San Diego just for fun. To my surprise, every dress was beautiful, and reasonable priced. Be on the look out for trunk sales and floor sample sales. Don't count out designer dresses. Good luck & Congrats ☺️

My gown is being custom-made. The total including material is $6000. It is the gown of my dreams and is being made my a phenomenal seamstress who has been making things for me since I was a little girl. I always told her that she would make my wedding gown...and here we are :-) I am more than happy
I got a dress from Mon Cheri that was normally 1800 dollars for 450 and all of the money went to fighting human sex trafficking. It's a place called Adorned in grace and they get donations from around Portland and surrounding cities. It has about a 7 ft train and I only need to alter the bust. I was also lucky to get a dress that was new as many of the donations are dresses from former brides and have already been altered. :-)
Wedding Wire sent an email asking me to reply to this question. I imagine that's what brought all us lowly "one star" commenters. I tend to stay away from the forums because commenters aren't very nice. Not sure why WW specifically asked for a response to this question but no others.
I bought a sample and paid $1350. Brand new it would have been $2350. My budget was $2K. I have not gotten it cleaned, altered or any accessories yet.
My daughter's got their dresses at Brides Against Breast Cancer. One was $250 (gorgeous dress satin with pick ups and lace and pearl beading), the other was an Essence of Australia gown for $900 (satin with bling along the sweatheart neckline and on the train). Both were gorgeous.
Who cares about the 1 star comments? WW marketed to people who haven't been very active on the site and asked them to comment; way to make new people feel unwelcome.
To the new people - don't let it bother you. There are a lot of interesting things on the forums!
I paid $1,100 with tax, here in Houston at M2 Milan Bridal. Brand is Mori Lee. My budget was $2000. And I look back and wish I spent less, but was grateful that I found a dress in that price range.
I paid 850 for the dress and 100 for the preservation kit. All said and done I paid 1030 after tax. I paid 40 for the hem and 20 for the bustle. Look at local seamstresses for alterations it saved me a TON of money.
