My dress was $600. Got it at David's Bridal. There was a sale while I was there. Also paid $99 for the preservation of the dress. The dress will be dry cleaned, preserved, put into a display box, and the dress is insured for $1,000 if anything happens to it. I haven't altered my dress yet but I expect it to be around $300.
My dress was 250 dollars. I ordered of Jjshouse after getting feedback from several alterations specialists who said they had seen good work from the site as long as you don't get anything with beading. My alterations were 150 which included taking off the train, altering the neckline, fixing some crinoline issues in the underskirts and taking in the dress significantly in the bust. I got very lucky finding a great and affordable seamstress. A friend also ordered a jjshouse dress for her wedding that was long sleeve lace and it was beautiful also.
I bought a Leanne Marshall for $2000 (on her low side cost wise but with shoes, headpiece, belt, lace topper, fur stole and jewelry I spent another $1600-- I'm doing accessory changes from ceremony to reception and not wearing all of that at once too). I needed no alterations as the designer made the length custom to me. I plan to hem and dye my dress after the wedding so I'll wear it again (it's simple enough to be a beautiful gown for another special occasion once it's shortened)
I'd look on shopbop.com though they have a bridal section now and so does revolveclothing.com--- they both have designer dresses at reasonable prices... They offer a range so some get more expensive but they're also not super traditional if that's what you want.
$100! That's it! I went to the BHLDN outlet and got this dress http://greenweddingshoes.com/1920s-inspired-wedding-with-a-modern-twist-ashley-philip/ I am going to be making some alterations though, but I couldn't get a better price!

I went to Davids Bridal & bought two dresses for $1250. I caught one on sale for $199 that was originally $1k. I also had a $50 off coupon when I went to a local bridal show no alterations done on either yet.
I paid $180 custom made. Its gorgeous and no need to change anything about it fits like a glove. Font care its not designer dress im only wearing a few hours anyhow and rather allocate the money somewhere else then a dress. When my family saw my dress they thought I spent a couple 1000.
I spent a ridiculous amount on my Monique Lhuillier Bliss dress. $3000 plus a few car payments worth on the veil, plus $500 Angela Nuran shoes. This is my second and last wedding, so I am not settling for any less than what I really want.
