Vent ... Opposite problem from most of you ... Nobody wants to come to my wedding...

MrsD2011, on September 20, 2011 at 7:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 57

So 6 weeks ago, I was stressing out about having to many guests & now out of 265 invited omly a confirmed total of 70 are coming. Granted im still missing a handful of rsvps but tons of people I thought would go aren't. I'm just not feeling the love.

I think our wedding date is the same day? October 8th? That's a holiday weekend. Are people out of town. Do they say why they can't make it?

That really sucks. Smiley sad Is it too late to try to find a more accessible location? Maybe that will help.

No reason, no we moved our wedding back home bc everyone b*tched and moaned about how INCONVENIENT it would be for them to have to travel to where fs & I are now.

Your subject says "nobody wants to come to my wedding." Do you know if that's really the case? Maybe as much as they'd like to come, they just can't make it. Hopefully you'll receive more "yes" RSVPs in the next couple of days. Also, when was your RSVP deadline?

And they'd be more willing to come if it was in illinois so we moved it there.

I know it hurts but, have fun and enjoy those who are attending! High #'s don't necessarily make for the best times.

Well, fewer people = less money to pay out! Try to look at the bright side.

On the bright side, only the people that really want to be there will be coming. That's how FH and I have thought about it. Our guest list is at about 110 at the moment, and we know a few of those people (cousins, aunts, uncles etc) probably won't come because they don't really want to, so we hope they don't. We really only want to pay for people who want to be there to celebrate with us Smiley smile

Do you really have to meet a minimum? Talk with the venue, if they know what the final count has ended up at, and if you are paying whatever the fee was for that package surely they won't matter that the count is on the low side - after all, it means less work required for them also. If your contract includes food, perhaps the extra food could be donated to a local nonprofit (such as a homeless shelter), you could then at least request a charitable contribution form that can be applied as a tax deduction so your venue investment isn't a total loss.

Seventy guests is a very nice number, in my experience those weddings end up being very personal, with time to visit with all the guests. Best wishes.

I think its a great # I completely understand the "bummed" feeling. But Futuremrsb is right.... those ppl that ARE able to come are the ones that are able to share in your day and want too. I am sure some ppl just CANT make it, but it still stinks, no matter how ya slice it! Heck i get bummed when ppl cant come to birthday parties, lol...
