Postponed weddings for next year

Luyando, on May 13, 2020 at 4:46 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

So we just postponed our wedding for the second time 6/13/20 to 8/7/20 to 8/7/21. So dealing with that emotionally and praying that all will be well. All the excitement is kind of died down. This year wont be as exciting because all the planning has been done we are just waiting for the actual day. what are your thought on waiting to get married or eloping and having a party later?

I’m sorry to hear that. We postponed our April wedding to September of this year.

I know lots of couples are getting married or eloping, and doing a party or reception later. But for me the magic is gone if I’m already married.
I’m sure whatever you decide will be perfect. I couldn’t wait that long tho.

We just finished postponing our November wedding to October 2021. It sucks - it really does. A lot of people told us we should just elope this year and have a party next year, but I just don't want to. I think it's a personal choice and it needs to be the choice you're happy with and not one that anyone else tries to (however kindly) encourage. I feel the same though - most the planning is done, so it's more of a waiting game, but I think once we finally get there, the wedding will be one amazing day! Good luck to you!

I like the idea of getting married or eloping on the original date and then having the celebration later on

    Hi Luyando,

I'm so sorry that you've had to postponed your wedding twice. I'm sure you're feeling some combination of sad and disappointed. I know it's a lot, but you are not alone. Here's a couple of discussions that may offer some degree of hope or emotional support during this difficult time:

    The 5 stages of grief...

Where's the support when you need it?

Per your question, some couples are adjusting their plans to get married (one way or another) on their original dates. Options include ceremony now/reception later, elopement now/full wedding later, micro weddings and more. Check out these posts for details:

Covid19 Brides still getting married on original date?

Small ceremony now, big wedding later

I'm Eloping because of Covid-19.. can i still do all of the traditional events?
