Necessary or Not??

Lynnie, on January 14, 2020 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 2 9

The minute you get engaged you also start getting inundated with unsolicited advice about everything you "absolutely haaaaaave to do" for your wedding! But do you really have to have a photo booth, videographer, late night snacks, and extra dessert options?? Or do you think those are all just "fun extras"?

It's time for you to decide in this week's game... Necessary or Not?

We didn’t have an engagement party. Our family does not live near us and the proposal was in front of family. We also aren’t doing save the dates. It’s cheaper to just tell everyone especially being that we are having less than a typical 12 month engagement. We do plan to have seating arrangements, only for the reception. We’re also having a wedding party, registry & wedding cake. Our champagne is included with our venue. And we haven’t decided on Favors. We may just have extra desserts. People love to be fed! And I think wedding programs aren’t necessary.

Engagement Party- Not! I didn't ever one. I think its smart to save the extra money for the wedding.

Save The Dates- Not! I did do save the dates because I figured it would help my travelling guest schedule their travel plans.

Wedding Party- Not necessary! Just nice to have.

Getting Ready Pictures- Not! However, I think they make great memories.

Seat Assignments- Not necessary! Just nice to have.

Ceremony Programs- Necessary. Only because some people like to know what's going on and what's going to happen next.

Champagne Toast- Not necessary! Just nice to have.

Wedding Cake- Not! I am having a wedding cake but some people prefer a dessert table instead.

Favors- Not! After having free food and drinks, I don't think favors are a must have.

Registry- Necessary. Only because some people like to know exactly what the couple needs.

In my personal opinion, none of those things are top of the line important. I am more concerned with the wedding itself, and of course the little nitty gritty things that come with it (photographer, catering, makeup, hair, attire, etc.)

    Engagement Party?

If I had to pay for it...nope! However, some family will not be there because we both have big families and we’re only having 100 guests tops. So, they decided to have an engagement party for those who we couldn’t invite.

    Save The Dates?

Yes! We’re having a “mini destination”, I call it mini because it’s still here in the states lol! Everyone is traveling in so I wanted to make sure guests had the information before the wedding invitations go out.

    Wedding Party?

    Nope.

    Getting Ready Pictures?

    Yes!

    Seat Assignments?

    Nah

    Ceremony Programs?

    Yes!

    Champagne Toast?

We’re having it but it’s whatever

    Wedding Cake?

    Yes!

    Favors?

Nah but we’ll have them. We’re doing the vinyl cds with like 10 songs that are played at the wedding or just our fave music. We’re also doing handkerchiefs for the second line parade.

    Registry?

    Yes!

Hi - I am also considering doing a 2nd line with handkerchiefs!

I would like to personalize them but don't want to spend a ton on them.

Are you ordering your online and if so, what website?

    Thanks!

Hi Cheryl! I’m ordering online at Etsy.com. There are a few different sellers on there with somewhat different pricing. The best one I’ve seen was for like $1 a handkerchief

No to most of those... No engagement party as my family didn't throw one, and I don't like event planning, and no seat assignments, no champagne toast, no registry, no programs, or wedding party... If my photographer is there we will have getting ready photos, but I don't care about them 😅 yes for cake, favors, and save the dates

Engagement Party? Not necessary, we didn’t have one bc we got engaged in November and when we came back it was thanksgiving and the holiday season. It was too busy and too much time had passed

Save The Dates? Yes especially bc we’re getting married right before thanksgiving

Wedding Party? I wouldn’t say necessary but we’re having a small one

Getting Ready Pictures? Yes and it’ll be in our wedding videography

Seat Assignments? Yes I don’t want people to have to spend time wondering where to sit

Ceremony Programs? I don’t think so

Champagne Toast? Not necessary but a nice touch for sure

    Wedding Cake? Of course!

Favors? Yes I want something for our guests to take with them as a reminder of our special day

Registry? Necessary and it keeps things organized
