Keep or Cancel: Garter Toss?

Lynnie, on July 16, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 4 251

I have to confess that I've never actually seen a garter toss in person! Smiley surprise But apparently 37% of grooms still participate in this reception tradition! Will this toss tradition make the cut for your wedding?

Do you want to keep or cancel this toss tradition?

    I kept it.
Thought it was fun. However I must have had shy male guests because not many came up to catch it

Cancel. We aren't doing a garter toss or a bouquet toss. We have 2 single male guests in attendance and I feel uncomfortable having my FH go up my dress for my garter!

Cancel. The garter toss is the most grossly tacky wedding tradition of all time. Hard pass.

Keep, I asked my fiancé about this since he is the one that does it and there’s not a lot of “him” things he has an opinion on. He said he wants to do it so we will be doing it.

Cancel! We don't have any single guests. I wouldn't have done it anyway. Heck, I'm not even wearing a garter lol

Cancel, I'm not even wearing a garter, and it's not fun. Most of my guests are married or kids so it'd be weird

Keep, but we're putting a key on it so that whoever catches it can open the chest we got and win a prize along with the bouquet toss winner instead of having to creepily put it on a stranger's leg.

    We kept it!

Some say it is a tacky wedding tradition but it was a really fun experience that I don't regret doing!

Ours was especially fun because my husband tossed the garter and it got stuck on the wood beams...plus, this picture is priceless Smiley xd

Cancel. So awkward. My FH DJed a wedding where the bride wanted the Pink Panther theme played while the groom crawled to her on his hands and knees. He was so embarrassed but such a sport.

I’ll ask FH, but I’m guessing cancel. Most of his friends are single, so at least there would be more potential participants.

Every wedding that I have been to, there has been a garter toss. We will be having it at our wedding, too.

Not sure about this one. I will have to ask FH how he feels about it

Cancel. It's really awkward to watch as a guest (in my opinion) so I couldn't imagine how awkward it would be as the bride and groom. Plus we had very few single people at our wedding.

I'm personally not into so we won't be doing it but if it's something a couple wants to do at their wedding and both parties are comfortable with it then go for it!
