How much did your wedding dress cost?

I have been having doubts about the dress I already bought. The friend who was with me kinda pressured me into getting it. I'm gonna sell it and buy a new one. I have fallen in LOVE with a dress, but it is $7,000. ...just curious to see what you ladies paid. Here's the dress! (Isn't she lovely!!!) ...

Spend what you can. No judgements here!

I went to the running of the brides and crossed that off my bucket list! My dress was $500. I bought a belt for it for $200. The alterations are $225.

It'll be 2k after they add the bustle. I had a 1500 number in my head but this dress was too perfect to look anymore.... Although now I really want a cute light dress for the end of the reception when I'm tired of my 50 lb dress lol.

This website has tons of styles, this one looks somewhat similar to the Vera Wang you posted. You could just add a sparkly belt.

I have bought several items from this website (though not a wedding dress) and they always have great service. They have great reviews too.

My dress was $450 from a bridal consignment shop.

$1150 here - then $90 to ship it across the country after we moved, and $300 to alter it.

Oh you want to see it? Okay then. Smiley smile

Well my first dress, which I made, I probably ended up spending about $55-$60 as they screwed up when they rang up the total of the material and I didn't realize it until I got home was looking at the receipt as I had bought a ton of fabric that day. So I broke it all down, I realized that they only charged me for 3/4 of a yard of the taffeta when I actually bought 7 yards, but it had been broken up into 2 cuttings - they never charged me for the second cutting - oops.

The beginning of March I went back to Mass to see FH and fell in love with a mermaid style dress that we saw on David's Bridal website. But I had to wait till one of the stores on the West Coast actually had the dress in stock. Then I drove over 2 hours to try it on - BIG MISTAKE. I fell in love, but DAMN does that dress every look H-O-T on me. I had to buy it on the spot. And that one cost me $149. No alterations needed except for the hem and I can do that. I'm actually thinking of making it a convertible dress :-)

Buy what you love and what is in your budget - Don't worry about if others will think you spent too much (or too little) - It is your wedding dress!! My dress was $1600 and that is without alterations and a veil.

@ Kris S: LOL and that dress is GORGEOUS! You look stunning in it!

So I made an appointment at the Vera Wang store near me. I am also in love with the Gemma and Ethel dresses. If I fall in love with either dress, there are plenty of women on oncewed and preownedweddingdresses who are selling them for half the price. So instead of paying $5,000-$7,000 I'll be paying $2,500-$3,500. Smiley smile I'm pretty sure I'm gonna end up with a Vera Wang or Rivini dress! These are my favorite designers so far!

@Katy B: That dress is beautiful! Please make sure you rock a colored shoe like the girl in the pic!

Mine was about $675 (from $1350) at a bridal showcase. It was a sample and a total fluke, but evidently dress boutiques often bring their samples to these expos and rent a few extra booths to set up for dressing rooms/sample sales. I had to send my FH while I popped in to try one on, and it ended up being the one!

My dress with alterations and bolero was $350. It was an AA BM dress with a sweep train.

I bought my daughter's dress and will be buying all accessories. The dress was $1300(Cassablanca) without alterations. Her veil(Maggie Sottero Bernadine) was $500 but I bought it at www.bestbridalprices.com for $200. She has not had alterations yet and she still needs to pick out her shoes. I do believe the shoes are going to hurt my pocketbook. She has been eyeing these lovely Badgleys. Her godfather bought her day of jewelry that came in around $300 from Etsy for earrings and bracelet.

Imho, Noone on this forum should feel badly because they can have a pricey dress or can only afford a low budget dress. We are all from different walks in life and should be happy that we each found a dress we love.

I paid $650. Mine isn't a "traditional" wedding gown and it's one of a kind made for me with my own changes to an original design. And it's something I can wear when I renew my vows in Italy next year. My mom almost fell on the floor that I spent "so much" (REALLY, MOM? She watches all the dress shows!), but FH said even if it cost $10,000; it's what I want and that's what I should get.
