How much are you paying per person for food?

Kylie, on June 17, 2010 at 1:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 103

I am working on my budget for catering and was just curious how much everyone is paying per person for food.

I am paying $10 per person for catering from Carrabas which includes chicken marsala or salmon with garlic mashed potatos, soup or salad, and bread.

I expect it to run around $10 per person including cake cost but am not positive. When we changed venues it meant that we could use the caterer we wanted instead of the required caterer our old venue used. We have booked her and discussed a menu but won't know the exact cost until our tasting. Better yet our tasting, which she includes free, will actually be dinner for 12. We get to invite the adult members of the wedding party and our parents.

I want to fall over when I hear those prices! Maybe you are catering at a hall instead of having all in one. I am paying $100 or $130/pp depending on what entree they get, that includes food, cocktails, and open bar at the venue.

We are at $35 pp. It would have been more, but the wedding is at one of my wine accounts and he has been soooo gracious, waiving many fees.

Yes we are having ours at wedding reception rental, not an all in one location. That price does not include alcohol, but we are able to buy all our own alcohol which is going to save us a ton of money!

Don't worry Kaitlin, I'm right up there with you! I'm going to be paying either $120/pp if we have more than 180 or $125/pp for 179 and under.

For the price we're getting 5.5 hours of open bar, table wine service, 1.5 hour cocktail hour, appetizer, entree, wedding cake and chocolate covered strawberries at the tables.

Different parts of the country cost more. Hudson Valley, NY is one of them. *shrug*

PS....remember that each part of the country is different, on what is the "norm" for expenses.....as is the venue and the foods served.

So, one bride may be paying $20 pp and another is at $55 pp. The food may be the same, but the area they live in will dictate the price.

I'm paying $24.95 pp for appetizers (fried four cheese ravioli)

Caesar salad and italian pasta salad

    fresh steamed vegetables

    penne pasta alfredo

    meat lasagna

    fresh baked garlic bread

    Coffee & decaf

soda, lemonade, iced tea, hot tea and punch

    Sparkling cider & champagne

I think that's it. It was a lot more but I told them what we could afford and they cut it wayy down for us.
