How much are you paying per person for food?

I am working on my budget for catering and was just curious how much everyone is paying per person for food. I am paying $10 per person for catering from Carrabas which includes chicken marsala or salmon with garlic mashed potatos, soup or salad, and bread.

The food through the caterer, including soda, passed hors d'oeuvres, seated dinner w/ mains (chicken cordon bleu, NY strip, vegetarian), sides, salads, etc. is about $40/person, but then when you add the caterer staff and bartenders, plus renting the tables, chairs, linens, etc. and throw in the charge for the venue, and the parking lot (ahh, gotta love down town rentals), the cake and open bar and it winds up being just about $100/person. It's a lot, and more than I wanted, but we are only slightly over where we wanted to be budget wise when all is said and done. Besides, it's totally worth it for the grandeur you are getting.

Jeez i feel like mine is so pricy now! but boston is SO expensive!

the food is $82/pp. includes choice of baked stuffed shrimp or prime rib of beef, french onion soup, salad, rolls, potatoes, veggie medley, chocolate mousse, coffee, and the cake.

but then of course there is the cocktail hour, which is $12/pp for our cheese/cracker and veggie/dip stuff.

and then open bar is $33/pp.

@Hollyann-Did you check out LA Luna in Bensalem? Close to Philly and the caterer is AMAZING! They start at around 65.00 pp including open bar, food, hall, cake and centerpieces. The Caterer is Gil from PTG in Roxborough. Wanted him so bad, but the drive from conshy was too far for guests.

Passed hors d'oeuvres, open beer and wine throughout and non-alcoholic beverages, buffet with three salads and fruit, several vegetables, pasta, two entrees, and rolls including all waitstaff, linens, and china, silver and glassware and the wedding and groom's cake is about $71pp. On top of that, the venue and tables is about $32 pp so we are talking $103 pp. This is in Dallas. Flowers, etc,=. are separate.

We paid about $1300 for 150 people, about $12.50pp. We had a fajita buffet with all of the fixings, spinach enchiladas, home made guacamole, chips & hot sauce, rice and beans. They provided tea, and we provided water and an assortment of soda. Neither my husband or I drink, so we did not have any alcohol at our wedding (except for the bottle of vodka our groomsmen smuggled in).

    Gotta love Texas!

I don't have a final tally. My goal is under $20 a person. Thats a total budget for food at about $2000. Two places gave me quotes including linens and tableware for just over that around $2500. I live in Oregon and not in Portland so my prices are lower than most areas you all are at.

@ Tech Ridge your menu sounds great. Loved all the tex-mes I could eat when I lived in Texas.

Mine for food and punch is going to be $11/person. This includes 2 entrees, 2 side dishes, 2 vegetable dishes, 2 salads, punch, coffee, and rolls. Now we are still going to provide other drinks such as soda and alcohol. Cake is not included either but I'm paying $1.50/slice for my cake as well!

$17/pp but that's not including drinks or anything. It's literally just the salad, bread, entrees, and sides.

I can't imagine the prices(inexpensive) on a lot of these! Like I had mentioned earlier mine is $130pp before tax and grat. and that is with a Sunday discount. Keep in mind it is a beach wedding in NJ in July and it has everything you could ask for. Venure, 5hr open bar, carving/pasta/fruit station, passed hors d'oeuvres, apps, salad, sit down dinner including filet mignon, and they are doing special request for my very picky eater brother and special ordering liquors they don't normally carry for our specialty drinks, and not to forget dessert and such...If you are a Jersey Bride like me and you want a better price try Toms River Holiday Inn and Ramada they have great prices...for central jersey anyway...
