How long did you wait to get engaged?

We have known each other for 12 years (met in junior high), but dated for 8 years before we got engaged and we will be married 1 week before our 10 year anniversary! We started dating when I was 15 and he was 14, it took forever to get engaged and it seems like the wedding is forever away but I wouldn't change anything

We were together 5 years and then got engaged.

Im in the same boat as Chauncia J... 4 years too long!!! But well worth the wait...

We arent engaged yet, he has the ring, has my dads permission, now we are waiting for 'his moment'... we have been together 5 years and 5 months.

4 years looks pretty common!

We got engaged shortly after our 4 year anniversary too!

My FH and I dated in HS (We were both 16) We went our seperate ways and met up 7 years later. We dated for 7 years and have been engaged since July 2011 (He proposed right before my 30th bday...took the sting off of that one!) We will be together just shy of 8 years when we tie the knot. (He's a little slow to act...LOL. But that's ok, we are financially better off than in years past so it worked out for the best!

Moved in after 4 months and he proposed 5 months later. We married last September, just one month after our 2 year anniversary. I knew after the first date : )

4 years and seven months before engagement and we have another 2 years and 8 months (approximately ) until we actually make it to the alter...

It will be worth the wait in the end though: We both have our career/life goals and are supporting each other in attaining them. Keeps us long distance for now, but we know neither of us would be happy if one of us had to sacrifice their dreams.

4 years and 2 days... it was the Saturday after our anniversary.

We got engaged 14months after dating. And had a 2yr engagement.

We were together just shy of 3 years when he totally surprised me with a proposal! We will be together for a total of just under 5 years when we tie the knot!

We'd lived together nearly 8 years when we got engaged. Then again, we got engaged only three days after we first could legally get married anywhere.

We waited for 3 years. She proposed at about 2.5 years in, but I said not yet. Then at 3 year mark I was ready and I pushed the issue by driving her to the jewelry shop in LA (800 miles away) that I wanted my ring from. lol

2 days shy of 1 year. At our age we figured we shouldn't waste any time LOL!

7 months! A month after he moved in with me at my parents house!!

I always used to think it was so crazy when people got engaged after such a short time, but then I started dating my FH. We dated for 6 months and then he proposed. We moved in together before we were engaged. When we get married we will have been engaged for a year and a half and will have just passed our two year dating anniversary. I am definitely now a firm believer in "when you know you know".

10 months. We will have been together about 18 months when we get married.
