Modern technology is wonderful - in an era when there are more people able to connect to each other, how could it still be so hard to connect with another person and work towards that all important special relationship? Work consumes us and we are at an age where bars are just not an option. That left little chance to meet new people. Thank goodness for online dating sites! Yes, you guessed it, Andy and I met through one such dating site - EHarmony. At first I think we both just tried it for a lark and yes, we both met some rather, shall we say, interesting people? But perserverance won out and we were brought together through the internet. It took several weeks before we would meet as the first time he called me I was on my way to California to be with my brother after an accident. We got to know each other through phone calls, email, and he even got me to use texting on my phone which I swore I would never do. One night we took the big plunge and even had a Skype session (nerve-wracking as somehow we never look our best using those webcams). Two weeks later, on July 4th, 2011 we had our first date and what a wonderful time it was. He had a car and driver pick me up and then met me at the restaurant with 1 rose (the others were on the table when I sat down) After dinner at the Plaza we walked a short block to the W where we watched fireworks from the club on the top floor. Roses, crab cakes, waltzing in the hotel lobby while a couple of bemused bellhops watched (they even applauded); I was swept away in the most romantic evening I have ever had. We were inseparable after that. Just a little less than one year later, we went to Savannah (I had never been and he knew I wanted to go) to celebrate our first anniversary. At dinner a normally talkative Andy was very quiet. After the waiter cleared our table and we were thinking of dessert, I heard "What would you say if I asked you to marry me?" and out came the most beautiful engagement ring. I managed to stop crying long enough to say Yes! The waiter, coming back to take our dessert order, was the first person to know of our engagement and when the dessert came out the staff had written Congratulations on the plate. Friends and family are so happy for us both and it is exciting to think that we have a whole journey together as a married couple. Can't wait to write the next chapter!

I don't have a wedding theme. I feel so dumbfounded when people ask me about a theme for my wedding. I know I should have some type of theme so I can know what kind of decorations I want at my reception. I have colors but that is it. I know something...

My mother passed away a few years ago. I wanted to think of some nice way to honor her during the ceremony / reception. Some ideas I found were to have her favorite psalm read at the wedding, and have a tribute to her in the program, but I wanted to...
