How long did you wait to get engaged?

Dated for about 7 years, but I only feel like we "waited" about a year... we started dating when we were 16 and I thoroughly did not feel prepared for marriage before we graduated college.

We got engaged a little over a year after we graduated.

I've been with my fiance for 4 years. When he proposed, we were together for 3 years. We will be getting married 1 month(and a day exactly) prior to our 5 year anniversary.

We moved in together after 6 months, shortly after our 1 year anniversary he popped the question and at 2.5 years we will be married

We were together for a year when we got engaged. Our engagement is almost 7 months, getting married in 3 weeks!

For us it was four years. We've been engaged for over a year now.

I was only 16 when we started dating...it took 10 years...ugh, believe me I wanted it to be sooner, but knew it was meant to be and worth waiting for...although there were many times I got impatient.

DH and I were together 9 months when we got engaged. However, we had dated previously a few years before and we've known each other for 6 years. We had a short engagement according to some... 10 months.

We waited 1 and half years to make it official. However, my fiance talked to my dad July 2012. He wanted so bad to make it memorable that it took an additional year to pop the question. Worth the wait.

11 months! We will be together for 23 months on wedding day--first date 11/16/10, engaged 11/2/11, marriage 11/3/12. Guess you can say we love the month of November! Yes--when you know, you know!

2 and 1/2 months from when we initially started talking. But it was about 6 weeks after our first date. Our third date we half-heartedly planned our wedding, 4th date he bought a promise ring, 5 days later I found my wedding dress and he propsed that night!

6 long (wonderful) years!

We decided to get married 7 weeks after our first online message (which was 5 weeks after the first time we met in person). I didn't get the ring and formal proposal until 4 months from when we first started talking.

Agree..when you know, you know. I think we both knew before he flew out here from Norway to meet me!

First date May 5th 2011 and engaged July 7th 2011 - we will have been engaged over 2 years

We were together for about 6 months before we got engaged...it wasn't that long but I knew early on that FH was different and we have an amazing relationship.

We dated for 4 years, lived together for 2 of those years we were dating. Married at 5.5 years together. I knew I wanted to spend my life with him after 6 months of dating but I feel you should date someone for years before you marry them, so you can get to know them inside & out.

FH and I dated for a year and a half before we got engaged (March 2012). However, we had been talking about marriage for about 6 months prior to that.

We will have been dating just a few weeks short of 3 years when we get married in August.

We were together 5 years, 8 months, and 1 day before he proposed

The engagement is 2 years 1 month long

So we will be 4 months off being together for 8 years by the time we marry
