Groom's Family Hates Me

So my FH's family hates me. They refuse to be in the same room with me and he's not allowed to even talk about me. Why? Because we dated six years ago and I was very sick and couldn't work which made my FH stressed and we broke up then. We got back together three years later under the condition that even if I'm sick I need to work somehow. I have fibromyalgia, chronic migraines and back problems. I work online now and work part-time. This isn't good enough for them and about nine months ago sent me letters telling me to break up with my FH because they don't think I love him. He is very soft spoken but did take a stand for me on that issue.

Well, he wants his family at the wedding - can't blame him. I am worried that they won't show and how that might feel for him. If they do come, he wants his sister, brother-in-law (who sent the letter) and brother to be his groomsmen. I would prefer they aren't but he has a right to have them.

What can I do to make this easier?

So NotHappening....how are things going with your psycopath FMIL? I think you may want to rethink your last comment.

@NotHappening most of us were raised with both parents working. My mother often made more money than my father. Both of my grandmothers worked as did my Great-grandmother.

It's nice that your FW/FH will obviously be "taken care of" by you but most of us don't have the luxury of a partner who can do that.

Maybe society is going "downhill" (although statistics will oppose that fact) but it's not women in the workplace who are doing that. It may be that there are guys out there who can't bring themselves into the 21st century that are bringing us down.

Rarely things take me aback on these threads anymore.

Blaming women working for the downfall of society did just that.

Edited for spelling. I was too shocked to spell correctly.

I held off commenting on this thread until now. Still, I can't even come up with something coherent because I'm still trying to get over the fact that there's a time traveler who frequents WW!

@Nothappening- You're previous name was maybenotmaybe..you're the bride whose FH wanted to add the "weight gain" clause, and if I remember correctly you were having some insane controlling issues with your FH and his family... I feel like I shouldn't be surprised that you have this view of "women working" and the downfall of society because of it considering your other threads.

Yes, thanks Christine, that's why I was asking about the FMIL. Which, NotHappening, although I am very concerned by your last comment on here, I do actually care about what's happening with the FMIL and the FH and all the craziness that went down in that last thread. ETA - Future!Mrs.Myers on point. That's exactly what I was thinking.

I believe men who love women only for their outward appearance are the downfall of society #sorrynotsorry

My mother has Lupus and fibro. She has good days and very bad days. Any man that tries to tell her she has to work as a condition of her marriage when she is disabled should be kicked to the curb. Aside from that, screw his family. If marriage is what you want, a wedding is unnecessary. Elope!

Is nothappening a female? I can't imagine any woman ever saying something like that. Not one who has a brain anyways. Or any self respect.
