Favors...yes or no

Saved Save

So, my fiance and I originally planned on doing small boxes of candy from a local shop as favors, but as you all know, things start to add up! When I asked him about it this morning he suggested we just skip it and save over $300. Thoughts? I know many of my friends originally mentioned that favors are becoming less popular and not a big deal. Thanks!!!

Favors are not a necessity. If they're not in the budget, skip them.

Honestly, they are not necessary. We did Koozies because I could get them for 50 cents a piece, and we had a small guest list. Most of the time when I attend weddings thought, I don't even miss them if they are not there!

Favors aren鈥檛 as popular as they were decades ago. Providing good food & drinks is considered great hosting. Save the $300! 馃槉

Chances are we鈥檒l skip favors, however if we do them I鈥檓 tempted to find an inexpensive mini notebook/pen set we can customize. We first met in an online writing chat room and reading and writing have always been two of the biggest things we share in our relationship. A notebook and pen is, if nothing else, practical and usable, not to mention easy enough to personalize without making it weird.

In lieu of favors, we are doing a donation to a local animal shelter. So you could do that instead?

We aren't doing favors. Food, entertainment and drinks are enough imo!

    Definitely not necessary!

Well yeah $300 is a lot. I am spending like $150-$175 at the most for my favors for guests. In my circle and my culture it's considered rude not to give a favor so we actually have 2 haha, one is interactive!

They aren鈥檛 necessary. Unless you can get them for a reasonable price. We had a smaller wedding 63 people. I made them myself. I鈥檓 happy they were all taken by the end of the night. Though I could of used the leftovers. Lol

We are adding extra goodies to our dessert table like candy and trail mix and will provide little bags so guests can take any extra home.

Are you having a photo booth? The photo strips can count as your favors! But as others have said, favors aren't necessary. I would not spend $300 on them. How many guests are you expecting? Im only doing additional favors if they're around 50cents a person.

We decided no favors and are donating to the humane society I used to work at.

I was thinking about doing a candy buffet, but decided against it. Of the 5 weddings I've been to, I can only remember one of the favors and I forgot to grab one before I left! My mom is paying for the wedding, and I'd rather not spend money that isnt necessary.

Our "favors" are going to be little penguin figures. They'll be what we use as escort cards. A tag will be tied to each woth the person's name, table number, and what kind of penguin it is. At the back of the table there will be a sign saying "May your party penguin escort you to your table and hold your seat while you're on the dance floor."
I love penguins and FH agreed to this.
