With so many options how did everyone know that their venue was the one? Please help we are still touring because we can not make a choice just yet.

I think that as you tour venues, you'll notice which ones stand out to you a little more than others. Compare the scenery, food and beverage packages, capacity, reviews, pricing, and also how the venue staff are. If venue staff don't respond in a timely manner, or if they don't seem like people you'd want to work with, move on to another venue. Ask about service fees and other hidden costs to help give you a better idea of what the total price would be. During the tours, take notes of what you like/dislike, and compare them later. Also go with your gut feeling on what you think is best. If you don't feel strongly about any of them, keep searching!

Before you begin to look at venues, you need to have budget, guest list and your vision set in stone. Pick 3-5 elements to focus your attention and money into - usually the guest experience which includes good food/beverages that guests don’t pay for, and great dj - and your memories which is photo/video. Eliminate anything else not important to you and don’t spend energy on them just because it’s traditional. When you have that in mind, make a list of your non negotiables that you want and don’t want in a venue. Do you want to have free rein of your vendors if you are on a tight budget or do you want a planner to do everything for you and you show up to an all inclusive which is more expensive with fewer options? Do you want a short event or do you want no curfew so the after party can stay on site? Do you want in house catering which you frequently are not allowed to taste before signing the contract and is not included in the rental fee/quote or do you want to pick a local catering company or restaurant? Those are all things to consider that frequently get forgotten.

We made a list of “must haves”, and “it’d be cool “ extras, and marked off what each venue had. It was an easy way to compare all of them

If you like aspects of them all, sometimes it just comes down to date availability.
