Small wedding music suggestions?

Victoria, on May 1, 2024 at 9:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 2
We are having a vow renewal with 65 guests. We will have a small dance floor available and want to encourage dancing but don’t want to have any scheduled dances (although I’m considering an anniversary dance) or DJ atmosphere since it’ll be a quiet, mostly family event. Should I go the playlist route? My husband suggested hiring a pianist for the day but then we’d have to provide a piano since there isn’t one at the venue. Venue info: indoor / outdoor restaurant and outdoor park area. Dance floor is outside.

I am a fan of hiring a DJ because of their music library and their ability to work with live music even if it is a small event. Although my wedding was a little bit larger, my DJ said one of the most memorable weddings he worked was a wedding of about 40 people who stayed on the dance floor all night.

Along the approach of getting a pianist is to get a person with an electronic keyboard who also has arrangements of common songs they can either use to play recorded songs or for that person to play along with the background instruments. You have to make sure that the park or venue allows amplified music outside. you can check gigs list or other source for musicians available for hire. Some of these folk could do a role similar to a DJ.
