Lets discuss waxing... shall we?

Bikini Wax, The Hollywood Wax, The Brazilian ... has anyone on here ever gotten waxed? Any advice (besides not to do it)? Any recommendations? I figured I'd start experimenting now rather than wait until closer the wedding date!

LOL kimi I love this thread! I usually go for the French wax (same as Hollywood- all hair removed), or sometimes brazilian. Yea it hurts, but no pain no gain right?! Does hollywood include bleaching you- know- where lol? I've always wanted to try that but too scared to ask ...

I'm not sure if the hollywood includes bleaching... as far as I know that's separate (anal bleaching)

Buuuuut It could just really depend on the salon you go too - I'm quickly learning that not all Salons name the waxes the same. Don't be too scared to ask! If they have it they should typically post it on their 'menu'

I am currentlly going through Laser Hair Removal. I am almost half way done and LOVE it!!! I will be all set by the time the wedding is here. Another reason we delayed getting married sooner.

I'm going to have to look more into laser hair removal for my legs. I can't imagine how wonderful it would be to not shave anymore!

I'm surprised that sugaring wasn't mentioned more. I've had waxing done on my brows but I've had redness if the wax is even a tad too warm so I was worried that I'd get charred skin down there from waxing and went the sugaring route instead. Some people says it hurts less compared to waxing (I couldn't tell you) but it's more sanitary since you don't reuse the waxing wands or wax (some places do, be careful!!), you get your own ball of wax and it gets tossed right after. It definately hurt, but much less than I thought it would. I've only been twice and would do it more if it wasn't so expensive. If I go on a trip where I don't want to bother with hair for a few days though, I'd definately do it again!

@Maria - LMAO!!!! I agree with you though... if I'm sitting through that pain, it's all coming off.

@Jennifer B - I've heard great things about European Wax Center!!

I just had a sugaring done a week or so ago. It was less painful than waxing and much faster. I think I am going to stick with that going forward. Pop a few advil and exfoliate after to avoid ingrowns and you are good to go!

Thanks for mentioning Sugaring Stephanie! I actually just did a short trip to google & found that the reason sugaring hurts less is because it grabs on to the hair & not the skin (sometimes wax does both)

@Jaemie: So the exfoliation is afterwards and not before?

I went to school to get my license to do this and want to hear about embarrassing?! when we learned waxing we practiced each kind, including bikini, on each other. i was 19 years old, pretty prudish and embarrassed of my body and had to let all my business hang out in a huge room with 20 other girls. I had NEVER even thought about downstairs grooming at this point so TMI i had a pretty good size bush. it took my 2 partners like 30 mins to tackle it, then wax it. it was horrible!! BUT im really glad it was done Smiley smile now i shave it (bc my skin is too sensitive to wax) and i would never let that craziness grow back i love it so much better. So i would go at least once to get a nice smooth base, and then just shave from then on, unless you want no bumps then you need to wax.

Also, about it being embarrassing to go, you shouldn't be, but you will and there is no way around that unfortunatly. the best advice is to talk to friends and see if they have a person they like, just like a dr. cont

I didn't really do it before. The woman told me to rub with a wet cloth in the shower for about a week in the more sensitive areas. That was it and *knock on wood* so far so good. I will say it also helps to have a sense of humor, I mean some strange lady is looking at your hooha for a bit.

I couldn't either! i ended up dropping out (when my first ever client was a male back wax/facial). i walked out never to return lol but it set my life in motion (im not perusing teaching) and im a better person for the experience. i also learned a lot so i can do stuff my self and dont have to pay someone else Smiley winking

I remember telling my MOH "Kell GUESS what i had to do in class today?!" lol to this day we both feel like we made the whole thing up and it never happened bc the whole thing was just so unbelievable lol

Oh man Haley, as soon as I started reading this thread I thought of that story. I laughed so hard the first time I read it I cried. Thanks for re-posting! I think I have it somewhere... may need to send around to the gals again.

Ok ladies, after reading this post: My question still is?????

Is it ok to have sex the same day as your brazilian waxing or sugaring?

Just wandering trying to surprise my hubby.

    Thanks!

I'm so late on this, but whatever....

1.) yes it's ok to have sex the same day---I'd just try to get it done in the morning then have your "snuggle time" later in the evening to avoid any moisture getting to your lady parts for as long as possible to avoid getting a rash.

2.) I took 2 shots of tequila before my first sugaring because I was so scared!!! It is not comfortable, but once it's over, the results are worth it. :-)

overall; DO IT! You will feel so good about yourself and it'll boost your confidence in the bedroom :-)
