Bride & Groom thank you toasts. When?

Haley, on July 25, 2013 at 12:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I've never seen a bride and groom give a thank you toast AT a wedding so I assume it is to be done at the rehearsal? I've only been to a couple rehearsals and I've seen the father of the groom do a speech/toast at one and the bride & groom make a thank you speech at the other. What are you doing?! If anything.

Yes the bride and groom say their thank you's to their party at the rehearsal dinner. During your reception you walk to each table and say thank you personally.

We did a small thank you at the rehearsal dinner, mostly to those in the wedding, where we gave out gifts. We did a thank you toast at the wedding reception after the BM & MOH did theirs, thanking all the guests for coming (many traveled from states away). We tried to talk to everyone personally at the reception, but you are pulled in so many directions, you only get a few words with each person. Some people leave early, you want to dance, etc. Better to cover it globally.

We're planning to do one at both but I know I will cry so I may just let my hubs handle it. I cry at the drop of the hat. I cry when we go around the table at thanksgiving and say what we are thankful for. LOL

We did thank you's after the Moh and BM speech and also went around to every table to each of our guest and thanked them again.. Even took pictures with each couple, friend, family etc.

We are doing our thank you toast a little over an hour before the reception ends and will also close our 1 year time capsule at that time. We thought about doing it early with the BM and MOH toasts but didn't want people to get board sitting for so long so it will be a short break in dancing for people to refill drinks.

We were pretty much told to do the same as Alisa S. mentioned. We'll probably do a big speech and hand out gifts during the rehearsal dinner, but we still plan on thanking our guests again towards the beginning of our reception.

I just anticipate it being a super emotional day and we don't want to have to wait 2 hours into the reception to start sharing our gratitude.

We (I) stood up and did a thank you to signal the end of the evening as our wedding/reception was only 4 hours. I knew this was the plan, but didn't prepare my words. I wish I would have planned something!

We're going to do a bride and groom toast at the rehearsal a long with giving gifts to the ones that are participating in our wedding! Smiley smile But probably will do a thank you toast at the reception for those that were able to make it (out of towners) let alone to our friends/family for helping us! Knowing me, I will cry! I cry at everything, even Lifetime movies!

H did the toast at the rehearsal dinner. I just stood up there next to him. After his toast we gave our gift to the wedding party & to our parents. At the wedding, my dad did a welcome/thank you for coming toast right before the MOH & BM toast.

We did our thank you at the rehearsal (where I cried and made DH take over), and we also said a couple things at the wedding to thank the people making the food, and we also had everyone sing happy birthday to the 2 people who were celebrating their birthday with us, after thanking them for sharing their day with us.

I think it's what you feel more comfortable about. A speech for the entire room and it's taken care of for the rest of the evening, but if you want for it to be a bit more personal you can do the walk-to-each-table thing. You will be doing it anyways for the photographs so you can take a moment and have some chatting with your guests too.

Sooooo... what did/is everyone say/saying for their toasts? I hate the spotlight on me and definitely have not the faintest clue what to say. If it were up to me I'd be like "HEY GUYS.... THANKS FOR COMING.... BYE!"

We did a thank you speech at the reception after the mother son/ father daughter dance. My hubby did a great job! :-)

Hubby said something like: Jasmin & I want to thank everyone for traveling all the way to Vegas to share in our day. It means the world to us to start the journey as husband and wife with your love and support .....Then he got sentimental saying how amazing it is to see our family and friends all together in the same room and it just feels like we are a big family etc. He expressed our love for everyone then ......we partied!
