Mrs. Grissett-Johnson

David and I met 11/13/08 at a fund raiser for his fraternity Omega Psi Phi. This was his band's first gig ever and I was an aspiring singer new to Austin, TX looking for an opportunity. At the end of the evening I eagerly approached the lead guitarist to ask for an audition opportunity. I was kindly directed to the drummer and told "you gotta ask this guy", David Johnson. I was immediately smitten! I giggled and tried to act bashful, but more so hoping that he'd invite me to audition; and he did. A week later I auditioned for the band and was invited back for a second time. Unfortunately I didn't make the cut, but David and I stayed in contact and bonded over our love of music and the outdoors. After some off-and-on communication, 5 months later we were able to see each other again, but not without some careful planning on my part. I faked a studio session as an excuse to get over to his side of town. After my studio session was conveniently cancelled I called David to see if we could meet up for lunch. Luckily for me it was an awesome lunch which led to an amazing friendship that blossomed into a 3 year 8 month love story. Despite a few health scares, financial troubles and everything else in-between David proposed on 1/1/13! This was actually his second proposal, but that's another story. I said yes then and yes again. What can I say, I get to marry my best friend. And while all the mushy stuff makes our love story so romantic it's our relationship with Christ that is really going to keep us through our journey as husband and wife.
