We did cupcakes for guess, so we really only had a top tier 😂 . But we saved half. It'll probably be gross, but I feel like it'll be hilarious

Our bakery gives you a free first anniversary cake so we are skipping this tradition.

Absolutely! We love our baker and she is bringing us instructions and all of the things we need to wrap it up so our caterer will do that for us! Our cake is going to be so delicious I know I'll be drooling on our one year anniversary when we take it out of the freezer!

I’m not sure if our baker includes a free anniversary cake, but if they don’t, we’ll definitely be partaking in this tradition.

We did. Our baker forgot to bring the things we need to save it with her on the day of, so I had to google "how to save wedding cake"... I'm a little apprehensive on actually eating it though. If nothing else, it'll be one hell of a story!

Nope. We are having cupcakes and a small round cake for cutting. I always get snacky before bed so I am taking whatever is leftover of the round cake to the hotel with us and eating it that night!!!

We are saving ours. Fingers cross that it will taste like chocolate and not freezer burn.

God no. I ate all my cake then went on my honeymoon.

Besides, the tradition of this is because people saved the tier to eat when they had a baby. Not for good luck. I find that weird since you can just go to the store now and buy a cake.

I would love to! However not sure if it would get freezer burn. So we will probably just order a small cake replica for our anniversary. Also our cake is just for cutting and we will be having a donut display.

I will absolutely be saving ours and i can not stand when people say it will not preserve well.

    a. my grandmother was a professional cake baker. she was considered the absolute best in the state at least. she always saved them. she would assist couples with wrapping them up properly so they would still taste good.

    b. my mother saved her top tier when she married my father (step father who adopted us) and we all ENJOYED it a year later.

    c. my cousin was married 2 years ago. she and her husband ate their cake a year later and it was delicious

FH and I actually recently met with a cake decorator for a tasting. We were discussing serving sizes and he out right ignored me about saving the top tier. I reiterated that I will be saving and not serving the top tier. he laughed at me and said that was disgusting.

The meeting didn't last much longer. FH laughed so hard the moment we got back to his car because the fool didn't know what kind of an angry volcano he was LAUGHING at! lol I am still mad about it!

No, we served the entire cake to our guests! Our baker does offer a 1 year anniversary cake so we may take advantage of that...
