Are you saving the top tier of your wedding cake?

We are having Our wedding on a cruise and because of the guidelines we can’t take the cake off the ship so we’re just going to share our top-tier over the rest of the cruise with our family members

Ladies Ladies!!! Don't worry. This will be my second marriage, my late husband and I saved our top tier wedding cake. I wrapped it in saran wrap, press and seal wrap than put it in a freezer bag to make sure all air was out and it was secured properly. After the first year.... That cake tasted better than it did on our the actual wedding day. Just wrap it properly and all is well. Oh! Make sure to put it in the back of the freezer. 😉

We are not, I’m going to purchase a fresh new cake in the the same flavor from the same bakery for our first anniversary.

No and our DOC was so outraged when we told her so. She was like "are you sure?" and "Let me make a note right now that cutting the top tier is NOT a mistake." It's a different flavor! I wanna eat it! Lol.

Our plan is to, but we have to figure out the logistics of getting it back on a cross-country flight without it getting ruined. Also, funny story, FH's best man and his wife never ate theirs. They straight up forgot. She pulled it out of the freezer and just laughed cause she said "it's been in there for 6 years and I still won't throw it away"

I'm not sure yet. It's possible we'll be making a big move within that year. Guess we'll see lol

We did and I’m so glad! We recently got to eat it and it was so yummy! We were very nervous about the taste but it was good. It was also sweet to have that something from our day ❤️

We didn't intend to save it, but we ended up with it going home with us! Our venue manager asked if we wanted to save it, and I said that it wasn't necessary - cut it if they'd like to serve it. Well I guess they hadn't made it to the top tier, and just ended up saving it for us anyway. So we have it. What's funny though - our "tiers" were square tiers. 3 levels, and the TOP TIER IS BASICALLY A FULL 8" CAKE! So we're probably going to dive into that once or twice even before the 1 year lol

We won't be saving it. I'd rather just order a fresh small cake in the same flavor. It will taste so much better.

We decided to skip this tradition and get a sheet cake. We'll get another cake to celebrate our 1st anniversary.

The idea of it sitting in our freezer for a year before it defrosts is gross, so no. Our baker includes an anniversary cake and I’m all about THAT!!! 🎂

This is my second marriage/wedding. I was forced into saving the top tier by my dad after the first wedding. We ate a piece a year later and I can tell you 3 things:
    1.) it was disgusting
2.) The buttercream & chocolate mousse had fermented (even being frozen). It tasted like sour cream and kalua
3.) Clealry it didn’t bring us good luck since the marriage was all down hill from there.

I think the idea is cute, but I won’t be doing that again. Instead, on our year anniversary I plan on ordering cupcakes in our wedding cake flavours from the same baker. We can enjoy those together.

That’s about the only tradition we did lol! I get weird about things being in the refrigerator too long so I’m not sure how I’ll be next October but we’ve saved it lol.

No...it seems gross so we skipped it. Our baker was really affordable so we will probably just get something fresh from her for our one year.

Our baker is giving us a coupon to come back in a year to get a nice fresh cake made for us! She highly suggested it! Unless you wrap it a million times with wrap !!

I don’t intend on saving ours partially because our freezer is super tiny as is. I already have to be conscious when going grocery shopping about how much freezer food I buy. I couldn’t imagine having a small cake in there for a year just taking up space. We will probably just get get the top tier recreated for our anniversary.

So...confession! My stepmom is baking our cake (she is so talented, you guys!) and she asked if I wanted her to make it large enough that we could save the top layer. I told her yes, but really we plan on eating it like right after the wedding or for breakfast the next morning before we fly out haha. We're going to have so much delicious food & donuts at our wedding, I'm afraid we won't get to truly enjoy the cake. Plus, eating cake for breakfast is one of my favorite ways to celebrate!

No that's gross, have your baker make one to match and enjoy something fresh.
