anyone not doing/didn't do fake nails?

Arzel, on December 26, 2012 at 4:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 32

So my wedding is during my Spring semester. During my spring semester I will be taking my EMT course and I might possibly be doing my clinical at that time so I think that fake nails might not be an option unless I am willing to pull them off the day after the wedding. My nails are not nice and long and don't grow really well.

So did anyone not do fake nails or isn't doing them? Can I see your pictures?

Not me either. Every time I've worn fake nails, they tear my nails. I plan on taking vitamins and doing a Manu at least every month.

Fake nails have been out anyway since 2001 hahaha. I do gel polish or a regular manicure. Even if your nails are horrible which mine can be, the manicurist can work with them to look nice for your day. Just do regukar polish but get them painted the day before so less chance for chipping.

I didn't do fake nails, but I gave myself time for my nails to grow out a bit, and just did a manicure the night before the wedding. We got some extra nail polish, too, in case it chipped by the next morning.

Unfortunately, I don't think we took any close ups of our hands at the wedding, but my profile picture is from my e-shoot -- that was just with me painting my own nails, and I think it turned out fine.

If you want your nails to be strong and pretty you should take prenatal vitamins. I swear by them. My nails used to break off and never grow but since I've been taking these vitamins they are actually growing!!

As for my nails for my wedding, I'm still undecided what I want to do. I personally don't want fake nails cause they weaken your real nails and I think they are a pain. I'll probably just go with my natural nails and maybe get a lace pattern put on them.

I'm not doing fake nails...or at least I'm not getting fake nails done professionally. I used to get them and they completely destroyed my nails.

I'm probably going to do the $5 glue on's from CVS. They look really good & come off easily the next day with acetone nail polish remover!

I wish I could side with the rest of you. I will be getting the fake nails, but only the day before the wedding, and they'll be coming off as soon as we're home from the honeymoon. I've had them off and on in he past, and I just don't think I can do without them for the wedding.

I can't do them... my nail beds are too small (well... now, with all the 5 year old pageant girls gettin them done, they probably have them in my size...). The one and ONLY time I ever did it, they started growing out and my right pinky nail was under stress and BROKE in the MIDDLE OF THE NAIL BED!!! My nails are getting healthier and I will probably opt for gel polish or a manicure, if anything. I haven't painted my nails in so long, it's going to be strange!!

Manicure the day before. There weren't that many close up shots of my hands.

I had my nails painted at a salon a day before the wedding so it wouldn't chip. I wanted to get them professionally done so they could file/shape them evenly. I don't have a good close up but here's a pic that you can see them. I picked a neutral light pink.

We didn't. But then again, we wore opera gloves, so no one saw our nails anyway.

I wore fake nails for a 1.5 and like amy said it ruined my real nails. now i do gel nails. its heavy nail polish that last 2 weeks and alot better for your nails.

I'll just be doing something natural for my wedding maybe a french tip

I am seen at weddings every weekend, and very often the part that is in pix is my hands. I want to look professional. I have gels and I've had them for about four years, constantly. I get them done once a month (yes, they do last that long) and I really love them. They don't chip and they always look great.

I haven't made a decision yet. I wore these really great press on (no glue) nails to a friend's wedding in August and they worked really well. I rock climb and work with children so having nails doesn't really work. The only thing that made me a little nervous is they are removable at any time so I was worried I'd pull one off by accident. That never happened (in fact they were kind of hard to get off!) I wore them the whole weekend, and took them off when I got home. I'll include a link (not the right color). But If you can't do fakes, and aren't great with real nails (me), I would recommend trying these. By a set, try them for a weekend, see what you think.

I am on a budget so I am trying to save a dollar with every aspect of my wedding. Nails is no exception. Here is a picture of how I will probably do my nails for my wedding. If you are on pinterest, you can find all kinds of great tutorials on cool ways to do your own nails. I have been practicing this method with other colors so I can have the technique down by the time my wedding rolls around. And since I paint my nails all the time anyway, it isn't costing me any more money than I would already be spending.

No point unless one of you wedding NEEDS is the pic of you holding cake knife or something. I felt it a waste of money.

I'm not doing fake nails. I don't like them. I will be getting a gel polish/shellac manicure though. I love it and it lasts at least 2 weeks.

I did shellac a few days before and they were still perfect the day of. I have short nails so I did a natural pink.
