We'll help you choose just the right venue and amazing wedding vendors, arrange entertainment and activities for your guests, assist with menu and bar planning, create a custom design plan, and so much more.

Our office is located in downtown Austin (right in between Brazos Hall and the Driskill Hotel) so we're convenient to visit when you're in town but we can also plan with you from afar. In fact, a lot of our couples don't live here so we're very comfortable working with you if you're out of town.

Personalized wedding planning

I can't say enough good things about Cheryl & Shea of Yellow Umbrella Events! I have helped plan, coordinate, & execute many weddings in my career but when it came time to plan my own I was lost. Yellow Umbrella helped us with every detail of our destination elopement from picking the perfect resort, transportation, and more. Cheryl & Shea were available to answer ALL of my questions & ease any concerns. They are true destination wedding planners & know the Cancun/Playa del Carmen/Tulum area better than anyone! Best of the best!

Cheryl and Shea are the BEST team in the business!!
Honestly, the word that comes to mind when I think about what it was like working with them is “SEAMLESS”
Their attention to detail and communication with not only their couples, but your guests, is second to none. They’re extremely responsive and super familiar with Mexico! They ask all the right questions to make sure you are getting what you want for your big day within the budget you and your husband have set.
Planning a wedding from another country can be stressful but not when you work with Yellow Umbrella Events. They are super informative and extremely resourceful!
We had to make changes to our resort 3 weeks away from our wedding day due to hurricane damage and it happened flawlessly. (We had 70 guests to move)
These two really care about their couples and want to experience for you and your guests to be immaculate.
All of our guests raved on how incredible they were to work with! One of my friends actually immediately booked them after getting engaged, for their destination wedding.
I can go on and on about these two, but we are forever grateful to have found them for our big day!!!

Amazing team for our destination wedding, so lucky we found them!

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Cheryl and Shea. They are seriously the dream team of wedding planning (and really any event).

We had essentially a 4~ day destination wedding in Hawaii and they helped plan a day for rehearsal and welcome party, and the actual wedding. The other two days were one for family where they suggested the event and a beach day after the wedding that we handled.

We started planning our destination wedding in Hawaii in September 2019 to get married in January of 2020 and it was no easy feat but we were lucky to have the best help to make our special day incredible.

We first heard of Cheryl and Shea through my friends whose wedding they planned in Austin. While planning our own wedding, I commented to my friend that I wanted to find a team as great as hers and lo and behold we found out they specialized in destination weddings.

We originally interviewed 4-5 local planners as we wanted someone on the ground but after speaking with Cheryl, we knew they were the perfect fit.

Cheryl was incredibly helpful, responsive, and easy to work with on our realatively short timeline. Did we mention we also left the country for a monthlong, pre-wedding honeymoon?!

Cheryl and Shea helped us source vendors in Hawaii, managed the relationships and timelines, and was there whenever we had a question or follow up.

Here are some of the highlights they helped us with;
-Suggest a fun family day event (from 12-9 PM!)
-Source our amazing hair and makeup artist
-Find us a bartender who made bespoke cocktails to service in freshly shucked and cored coconuts and pineapples
-Source a hotel for our guests and get travel planner rates.
-Managed difficult vendors and made it look effortless
-Deal with my difficult mother and helped me deal with it (honestly this can't be emphasized enough)

No Stress Wedding Day? I'll take it!

Cheryl and Shea are absolutely amazing to work with! I lived in Austin for almost 10 years and knew that's where I wanted to get married, even after moving to the DFW area. Cheryl made planning from a distance super simple. Anyone that really knows me will say I'm a control freak, think Monica from Friends. So when I say I didn't stress on my wedding, and was actually able to enjoy every single minute of it, you KNOW that's a big deal. It wouldn't have been possible without Cheryl and Shea. Everything came together beautifully, down to the smallest of details. She was able to nail my vision, even when I wasn't able to put it into words. I may be a bit biased, but we had a freaking awesome wedding.

HIGHLY recommend!!

HIGHLY recommend Cheryl Bailey if you are looking for an event planner! She and her husband, Shea, were very professional and extremely knowledgeable. We hired Yellow Umbrella Events to plan our daughter's wedding in Houston at The Astorian. They helped with everything...venue selection, budget, timeline, contracts, setting appointments, selecting venders and Wedding Day details!! Everything was perfect!!!

There are hardly words sufficient to describe how incredible my experience was with Cheryl and Shea. They made our day absolutely perfect! They were with me from the beginning of planning throughout the entire process. They gave great insight and guidance, worked within my budget, listened to my ideas and gave thoughtful input, responded promptly at all times, prepared thorough timelines, communicated with my vendors and handled absolutely everything to ensure our day was special. Our guests were extremely impressed and I know I couldn't have done it without them. I knew I was in great hands and was able to actually relax and enjoy my day. I highly recommend this outstanding team to plan your special events! You won't be disappointed! Cheryl and Shea, thank you for making our day amazing! You're the best!!!

My husband and I got married on 3.6.15 in Austin. Cheryl and her husband were absolutely amazing! We hired them for the package of 3 months out, and it was worth every penny. It truly was the best money we spent on the wedding by far. They took care of every detail and communicated with all of the vendors which saved me so much time. I cannot imagine getting through the planning and wedding day without Cheryl and Shea. They completely knocked it out of the park, and I cannot say enough good things about them. I forgot to bring flat shoes to change into, and Shea went to Target and bought me flats to put on for the reception....seriously...over and beyond. If I had to do it all over again, I'd hire them in a heartbeat!

On my wedding day, my friend came over to me and said, "You look so relaxed!" and numerous other people commented on how relaxed and happy I looked. This was all because I handed the reins to Cheryl and Shea and left them to orchestrate my wedding.

I'm a DIY kind of gal, I made my own invitations, picked out my dress, made the table runners and put together the centerpieces, but I'm terrible at organizing events. I'm happy that I chose Yellow Umbrella Events to deal with the logistics of the day. Cheryl is an excellent communicator and touched base often to make sure that she understood my vision for the day. Highly recommend.

Cheryl & Shea Bailey of Yellow Umbrella SAVED our wedding! I hired them as month-of coordinators for our 90 p, outdoor wedding. After I planned for 18 months, with 2 weeks to spare, their skills were tested to the limit. Basically, our first venue, the Wildflower Barn, became impossible to deal with, and with 2 weeks’ notice we realized we had to find a new venue! It was very emotional and frustrating because the entire wedding had been planned around our first venue. But within 2 hours, on a weekend no less, Cheryl and Shea had found TWO beautiful venues that would host us with only two weeks’ notice! Fixing our venue debacle became their priority, and they exceed our expectations by finding a gorgeous venue, Blue Rock Estate, with far more amenities than our first, as well as by smoothly transitioning all of our vendors, rentals, and the schedule to the new location. When our wedding day finally came, everything was beautiful, and the entire day ran perfectly. Honestly, I have no idea if there were any real problems because Cheryl and Shea kept everything running so smoothly. All of the guests kept commenting about how wonderful and relaxed the wedding felt, and I owe that to Cheryl and Shea. Had it not been for them, their experience, and their connections in Austin’s wedding industry, our wedding day would have been incredibly stressful and heartbreaking, venue-wise.
I could not have survived the last minute crisis without them, so I implore EVERY Hill Country bride to book Yellow Umbrella for at least month-of coordination. Even if nothing drastic happens during your wedding, the comfort of knowing that someone with experience will take care of everything is well worth the reasonable cost. Seriously, we never thought we would need them as much as we did, but now we're So glad we booked them. So save yourself unimaginable stress and book YUE to ensure that your wedding day is truly the happiest day of your life!

We loved Cheryl and Shea from Yellow Umbrella! Of course, anyone who is planning a wedding has some specific request. Our planning was complicated by new jobs, military moves, and a gazillion other things. This resulted in "binge planning." We hit it hard in the first few weeks of planning. Cheryl arranged for us to find a venue, pick a caterer, baker, photographer, DJ, and florist all within a few weeks. I told cheryl I wanted planning to be streamlined. I gave her a general idea of what we were looking for and her team provided us with a few choices for everything. That was PERFECT! I picked this, said no to that, and all of a sudden we had a solid, cohesive plan. Woah! How did that happen?!? We took a break for several months, but every now and then I would think of something random and e-mail Shea and Cheryl. Somehow, they kept track of all the random wants/needs/ideas that I had. Cheryl set up my dress shopping appointments and Shea planned our rehearsal dinner.

I didn't truly appreciate their services until the wedding weekend. I was sitting on the couch napping and vegging out 4 hours before the wedding when I though "huh. I wonder who is putting up the decorations, setting the tables, and putting out the programs, and organizing the caterer?" Our hair and make up artist was an hour late because she got lost. Cheryl was behind the scenes giving her directions while I was napping on the couch. How many brides can say they took a nap 3 hours before the ceremony?! Not once did Cheryl or Shea seem stressed. Not once did I have to stress. At one point a few hours before the ceremony, Cheryl asked if I had eaten. I had not. Within 30 minutes I had a turkey sandwich, made to my liking, in my hands.

After the wedding they packed up everything and made sure all loose ends were tied up. It was a little sad, after a year of planning, to realize that we would no longer "need" Cheryl and Shea. Of course, that's not the end. We are Facebook friends ;-)
