I found Jennifer Ashford of Altar Ego Wedding through The Knot. I interviewed several people before deciding to go with Jennifer, and it was the second-best decision I've ever made (the first was saying yes to my now-husband). Jennifer is the perfect amount of assertive and decisive. I never felt overwhelmed because I knew Jen was taking care of everything. My wedding was more perfect than I could have ever hoped for. Her industry know-how and professional but personable demeanor made everything feel easy. She knew exactly what to do all the time, and I had complete faith in her to be a good steward of my wedding. Our wedding was in October 2025, and since then, I have attended a few more. I know I’m completely biased, but having a good wedding planner can completely set you apart. The pacing of my wedding was immaculate. There were no awkward lulls; everything went smoothly on the day of. If anything, the best reason to have a wedding planner is to have someone on your team who knows the industry intimately. Every time I mentioned Jen to a vendor, they had nothing but positive things to say about her, which truly demonstrates how seriously Jen takes these industry connections.

Everyone I've talked to and everyone my parents have talked to about my wedding has said that my wedding was one of the nicest weddings they’ve ever been to, and I don’t think they are just blowing smoke. When we were meeting with coordinators she let us know on our first call that she had not been at our venue (Mayfield Park) before but had already found and read through the parks department’s guidelines and had suggestions/considerations already. She immediately got what we wanted- a wedding that felt easy, unfussy and relaxed- and was such an enthusiastic cheerleader throughout the whole process.

Her planning portal and checklists were so easy to use and thorough that the whole process felt simple, and having her available to review all our contracts was so reassuring. But the real magic happened when we handed everything over to her to take over 6 weeks out- I can’t speak fully to all the work she did then and the day of the wedding because so much of it was completely invisible to us!!! We were able to relax and enjoy the anticipation and excitement of the weeks leading up to the wedding and be fully present with our friends and family this past weekend, and we owe all of that to Jennifer and our team of vendors. Every interaction we had with Jennifer and her assistant was just full of joy and laughter and ease— they made it seem like they were having almost as much fun as we were and they made sure we had everything we needed exactly how we wanted it.

If you want a coordinator who handles all the details with calm, grace, and fun so you can just have a good time, Jennifer is the one! Our wedding was the most perfect version of the event we envisioned and Altar Ego made that happen.

We did the full start to finish plan with Jen and it was everything I needed and more. We had a better wedding than I ever could have dreamed of. We knew we needed a wedding planner because I have terrible anxiety over making decisions but Jen made it so easy for us. She took the time to learn about my husband and myself so that she could personalize every aspect of our wedding and understand our goals for our day. Every recommendation for vendors Jen gave us was excellent. I felt like I could trust her completely to steer us in the right direction and ensure we had our perfect day. I remember when we started wedding planning, people would keep asking if I was stressed, and I would say no not yet. Then the wedding got closer and people would ask if I was stressed and I still wasn't. Then it was the week of the wedding and everyone was asking if I was stressed and I still did not feel this big stress everyone always talks about leading up to your wedding and I know it was because we had Jen. We were able to focus on each other and spend time with our families on our wedding day and that is the greatest gift a wedding planner can ever give you. I felt so present in the moment because Jen was in the background taking care of everything and I knew she was capable of handling anything that came up. Our wedding experience wouldn't have been as wonderful without Jen. She came recommended by a friend. We opted for the month of package. Don't let the title fool you as she helped us way beyond that! She knows her market and has a positive reputation in the business. It was reassuring when reaching out to other vendors and sharing Jen was our coordinator, the resounding response was 'Oh I've worked with Jen. She's great!' She had worked weddings at our venue as well so it was helpful to have insider knowledge.

I loved her organization and spreadsheets. It was a lot but they really helped her get inside your brain of what you were envisioning so she could take care of anything that came up. You could tell she cared by her attention to detail. She kept us on track and I truly did not have a worry day of. And if there was a worry, I didn't know about it because Jen took care of it. I was confident in her skills and appreciated her guidance.
