Organized, attentive and wonderful
As the mother of the bride, I could not be more thrilled with the experience we had with Jen and her team. From the very beginning, the planning was incredibly organized, attentive, and truly committed to bringing the couple’s vision to life. She listened closely, offered insightful ideas, and executed every detail flawlessly. She immediately connected with me and my daughter, asking personal questions about how the couple met and what ultimately was important to the bride to be!
Jen’s professionalism and genuine care made the entire journey smooth, enjoyable, and stress-free for all of us. The wedding day itself was seamless and absolutely beautiful — everything we hoped for and more. If there was a major problem we never knew about it.

Our wedding experience wouldn't have been as wonderful without Jen. She came recommended by a friend. We opted for the month of package. Don't let the title fool you as she helped us way beyond that! She knows her market and has a positive reputation in the business. It was reassuring when reaching out to other vendors and sharing Jen was our coordinator, the resounding response was 'Oh I've worked with Jen. She's great!' She had worked weddings at our venue as well so it was helpful to have insider knowledge.
I loved her organization and spreadsheets. It was a lot but they really helped her get inside your brain of what you were envisioning so she could take care of anything that came up. You could tell she cared by her attention to detail. She kept us on track and I truly did not have a worry day of. And if there was a worry, I didn't know about it because Jen took care of it. I was confident in her skills and appreciated her guidance.

She and I went through some... difficulties with our original vendor team, and before I even had a chance to stress she was presenting me with backup options, reaching out on behalf of my event and ensuring we had the best vendor team possible at every moment. Her planning website is full of incredible resources for you to manage all the moving pieces of planning a wedding, and she is extremely responsive for any questions or concerns at any time! I was able to be completely stress & (mostly) decision free all week leading up to my wedding, because I knew that Jennifer and the team had everything under control. Finding the right planner for your wedding can feel overwhelming—it truly can make or break your big day. Well, let me tell you, we hit the jackpot with Jennifer Ashford from Altar Ego Weddings! From our first meeting, we knew she was the rockstar we needed to bring our vision to life.
Jennifer was incredibly conscientious of both our needs and our budget, making magic happen every step of the way. She worked seamlessly with Memory Lane's owner, Bobby, to ensure our day was absolutely stunning and everything I had dreamed of. There wasn’t a single question or crazy idea she couldn’t handle—she made us feel so heard and special throughout the entire process.
Her organization and calm-yet-commanding presence on the day of were unmatched. She struck the perfect balance of chill and focused, making sure every detail was executed exactly as we envisioned. I was even able to fully relax the day of (which is not easy for me—I’m usually pretty anxious!) because I knew she had everything under control.

I cannot recommend Jenn at Altar Ego Weddings enough! From the start, her experience and knowledge were clear. She has the best contacts in the business, and she helped me build an incredible vendor team for my wedding. While I wasn’t someone who dreamed of my wedding since childhood, I did have a vision, and Jenn brought it to life while ensuring we were good stewards of our budget.
Jenn was a pro at handling tough conversations with vendors, providing clear feedback when needed, and reviewing contracts to ensure everything was in our best interest. Her negotiating skills helped us secure great deals, and she kept me organized with payment deadlines, form requests, and every other detail I would have overlooked.
The planning process had its stressful moments, but Jenn was my biggest supporter and advocate, always reminding me to focus on the bigger picture—marrying my husband. In the end, she wasn’t just a planner but a true friend and accountability partner throughout the entire process. The Best Wedding Coordinator Ever
We booked Jennifer as our Day of coordinator and she was amazing!! I cannot recommend her enough for all your wedding planning and/or coordination needs. In hindsight we probably should have done full service because our wedding day went off without a hitch! Everything was handled professionally and efficiently! As part of her coordination services she allowed us to email her questions and she reviewed contracts for guidance and that was invaluable. Her wedding portal checklists also helped me stay organized throughout the year I was wedding planning. Seriously hire Jen! She is THE BEST. You won’t regret it. -

The Best Planner in the Business!! World Class Planner!!
Wow wow wow where do I even begin to start with this review. Jennifer Ashford is a WORLD CLASS INCREDIBLE wedding planner. We hired her for her full service wedding package as we were planning the Austin wedding from out of state, and so beyond glad we did. I planned my wedding with her for over 18 months. I’m a very “type A bride” who loves to try new things and she executed everything at our wedding with excellence and answered my thousands of emails over the course of almost 2 years, which was absolutely amazing. We planned a larger wedding ~200 guests, mostly out of town guests, at Addison Grove and knew nothing about planning a wedding nor planning a wedding in Austin. We learned so much from Jen! And it was such a fun process to work with her! Our wedding had all the “things”- Photographer, Videographer, Content Creator, String Band, DJ, Catering, Bar, Photobooth, Desserts, Florist, Beer Donkey’s, Fireworks, Getaway Cars, Charter Buses, Full Glam team, Rentals, And more- and Jen managed each and every vendor with excellence, taking us along for the journey throughout the whole process. I really don’t know how she does it all on top of having younger kids but she is really the best in the business. Jen is one of those planners who always will support your goals and dreams you desire for your wedding, while maintaining what’s realistic and execution-able. She tells you the “really really” and makes sure you make smart and educated decisions for your wedding day. Jen not only was able to deal with my “type A bride” many asks, but also balanced our demanding parents asks in parallel and made sure we as the couple’s voice was represented. She was always on top of her email and communication clarity, speed, and actionability was superb. Her wedding network within Austin is also outstanding- far better than most planners. She’s highly connected with all the vendors and her years of wedding planning experience show in her work- and she will make sure your day is perfect with the perfect vendors for your specific needs. Every single vendor we worked with, as recommended by her, was incredible. She also was always open to trying new things and new ideas for the wedding that were different than the average wedding and was willing to be creative and flexible with the vendors to make our dreams happen! And trust me we had a lot of out of the box ideas we learned from social media that stretched vendors to think differently! Above all else she was a joy to work with! She’s a wonderful person, has a good sense of humor, and is so kind and caring. I felt like she was such a good friend by the end of the process. I’m going to miss working with her, and hope you hire her so you can enjoy this wedding process as much as I did. Thank you Jen for everything you did for us! Our wedding was the most wonderful day of our lives, with everything we could have ever dreamed of!! The wedding was executed flawlessly and we had the time of our lives. My husband and I got married in August at The Addison Grove, we had the most amazing team. Jen from start to finish was genuinely devoted to doing whatever she could to make our wedding day as seamless and the way we envisioned. With a very A-type personality, surprisingly Jen was always one step ahead of me and made sure to have everything ready for a stress-free wedding week/weekend and especailly the day. She is a GEM, an encourager, friend, and the biggest blessing preparing for our wedding day. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jen. Jennifer provided month of service for my daughter's wedding and she was a joy to work with. She listened to all of our ideas and on the day of, set everything up for us. She worked well with our vendors and kept everything running so smoothly that I was able to spend quality time with my daughter vs setting things up and worrying about what might go wrong. The day was perfect. The bride and groom had a blast and we have beautiful pictures to remember every minute. Jennifer and her team were key to making it all perfect. She is worth every penny. -

Stress-free month before our wedding!
Jen with Altar Ego was such a blessing the month before our wedding. We selected all our vendors on our own and signed up for only the month before and day off service. Let me just say the attention to detail was amazing. We eventually added the design service and so glad we did as the reception was everything we imagined and more. We also had the reception cocktail hour entertainment have to pull out last minute and Jen hooked us up with a great quartet, and she helped me find a wedding cake only 3 weeks before the wedding. I can truly say I enjoyed my entire wedding day and had absolutely no stress what-so-ever (besides my Latin family being on time to the service ;)... IYKYK). -

Jennifer was our wedding planner from the very beginning and we could not have done any of it without her! She took so much stress off of our plate and was so professional! Jennifer really went above and beyond planning my wedding. She handled every detail and made sure wedding day went without a snag! Absolutely amazing!
Highly recommended Jennifer! Jennifer did an amazing job decorating my surprise proposal in Austin, Texas! She was able to make everyone look amazing after raining. She communicated very well with my Fiancé to ensure his vision for the perfect proposal came to life. She provided a “She Said Yes” banner and bouquet of my favorite flowers!

Planning an engagement with Jen was seamless. Jen remained an effective and proactive communicator all while remaining patient and encouraging. She took a small idea and formulated it into a creative masterpiece. She pays careful mind to the budget and is eager to please. Coming from out of town, Jen provided excellent recommendations and assistance with outside vendors. I cannot imagine planning such an important day with anyone else. Easiest decision ever - hire Jen and team!
Jen is wonderful and far exceeded our expectations! Given there was so much uncertainty surrounding COVID, in addition to our venue not cooperating all the time, there was nothing Jen hadn't already thought of or asked about to clarify how it would be handled. Even when she was back to back with weddings, she always made us feel like everything was under control and ensured us things would come together -- which they did perfectly! As the bride, I was able to feel free of any stress on the day of the wedding to focus on what was most important knowing Jen had it handled. Spend the $$ on a planner. -

Shannon at Alter Ego ushered us through the whole Covid bride process with kindness, compassion, and expertise. She was absolutely invaluable to our wedding’s success. She answered every email promptly, no matter how anxious or repetitive, and helped us understand the vision. She wrote a detailed itinerary of the day with NO detail forgotten, but helped us through the entire planning process. She really made the experience flow. We had so much fun at the wedding and reception because Shannon took care of every detail. The event was unforgettable, thanks to Shannon of Altar Ego. As a new mother of the bride, my biggest piece of advice is: hire a wedding planner like Shannon! I was able to enjoy the entire wedding weekend and actually spend time with the people I love most. -

We hired Jen in December 2019 and started full steam ahead with wedding planning for our November 2020 wedding. Obviously in March, we had to take a step and figure out what to do next. Luckily, Jen was with us every step of the way from figuring out venue limits and coordinating with our vendor team throughout the process. From her experience with weddings from July on, we were able to have an incredibly safe and fun wedding. We had our wedding on the original date in November, and it is definitely thanks to Jen. Everything ran smoothly, and I got to enjoy my wedding fully. It was the most beautiful, perfect day, and we are so grateful to have had Jen as our wedding planner. She is worth every penny and more.
Jen was very responsive in answering questions and providing materials. We always knew what we needed to get done with her awesome ToDo list using one of the many online tools she provided us. The Altar Ego team was phenomenal. I worked with Shannon from February 2019 until September 2020 (postponed our original wedding date in April 2020) and she was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and supportive throughout the entire process. She coordinated all of our vendors seamlessly. I had multiple phone calls, endless emails threads, and a zoom call to ease my mind during the planning process. I couldn't have done it without Shannon. Jen Krause filled in for Shannon on my actual wedding day and she was an absolute dream to work with. She didn't miss a beat when it came to organizing our vendors, setting up, and breaking down/collecting our items at the end of the night. She coordinated all of our vendors on the day-of and allowed us to be completely hands off and enjoy the day. I didn't have to worry about A THING on my wedding night. Jennifer is AMAZING!!! We hired Jennifer before we even had a wedding venue! I think most people hire a wedding coordinator after they have a date and venue but we loved her so much that we hired her first. She went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect. She really focused on myself and my husband to make sure we were happy. She took all my wedding worry away and allowed us to be in the moment on our wedding day which is extremely important. Not only did she make our wedding day run smoothly but she also answered all my pre-wedding questions and I had a lot of questions. We will forever be grateful that Jennifer made our day so special.

We booked Jen in the fall for our summer wedding. We got the unlimited email plan with month of and day of service. She was worth every penny. She gave great advice, was timely in her responses, took a phone call or 2 from my Dad (who needed to talk things out), and took so many fears and concerns off my plate. The vendors and she worked together so seamlessly, it was like I had booked them all from one fairy godmother. She's a leader in her field and well respected, which was super obvious in her leadership and professionalism. My rehearsal was quick and painless, her plans were executed and thoughtful. I loved that she told everyone to go to her with question, not me. Whew! She listened to all of my needs and made them happen. She made changes along the way and was flexible with details that changed and then changed again. I felt supported and cared for. My wedding day was perfect, thanks to Jen's attention to all of the details. I would hire her again tomorrow, she is helpful, kind, efficient, calm (yessss, I needed and used her calm energy), and professional. Her assistant, Shannon, was poised and helpful as well. I didn't have to do anything hard that night, it was magical. Wedding of your Dreams kind of Wonderful!
My husband and I had such a good experience with Altar Ego! Truly the best wedding ever--in no small part thanks to Altar Ego's amazing planning skills! We had the privilege of working with Jen Ashford--who was super organized, punctual, and kept us on-top of all of our to-do list items starting about 9 months ahead of our wedding. I loved how Jen Ashford was willing to adapt her system and priorities to fit with what worked for us and what was most important to us. Jen incorporated what we called the "weekly huddle email" where she would check in on our progress from the previous week and remind us of upcoming to-dos for that week. It worked wonderfully for us! I also loved how Jen incorporated good humor and a good attitude with all our communications--she was also excellent at being diplomatic when tensions and stress were high between family members. And! Without missing a beat, she gave a very educated and thorough explanation to my MBA-holding, Business-minded father, as to why weddings tend to be much more expensive than other events--*note* it is not completely what you think it is--remember that you're paying for a higher caliber/ better trained personnel and vendors when you are talking about your wedding, also if you are paying for a plated dinner, you're asking that all the food be ready at essentially the same time--things like these wedding details add up! Jen can explain better than I am, but it satisfied my business-minded dad. (Thanks, Jen!!). I also appreciated that Jen had so many great vendors to recommend to us--she is a leader in her field and has many many years of experience and networking under her belt in a very competitive field. I don't know what we would've done without her guidance and recommendations--it is so easy when you're on your own to get bogged down just in trying to select one vendor. And we all know there can be MANY vendors to hire for a wedding. Additionally, I so appreciated Jen's openness to learning and working with our request for a wedding ceremony that was very reverent and religious (and which had quite a few logistical details to work out). The vendors that I selected (especially ones that Jen had never worked with before), all said that Jen was amazing and a pleasure to work with! Finally, Jen is able to calmly roll with any unforseen glitches in weather etc--since our wedding was outside, we had arranged a rain plan, but had decided to go ahead and get married outside. The morning of our wedding it was pouring rain and Jen very calmly helped my family and my husband to make the decision to continue moving forward with the plan to keep the wedding outside. The weather was amazing during our ceremony--only a couple drops of rain and perfect temperature. We are so grateful that Jen led us through and had umbrellas etc ready to go, if the rain had persisted. I also want to give a shout out to Jen for sending us to her in-house graphic designer, Jen Krause! Jen Krause is not only an amazing event planner too, but she created an entirely custom style guide and suite of wedding invitations (with beautiful hand-calligraphy), place cards (also done by hand!), thank you cards, custom return address stamps and day-of signeage that was gorgeous and stylistically pulled everything together in an amazing way! We are so grateful! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! The best day of our lives! -

Shannon Sent on 04/21/2018I wasn’t sure that I wanted a Wedding Planner, but I decided to meet with a few anyway. My mind completely changed when I met Jennifer Ashford. We clicked instantly, and I knew that I wanted to work with her! Jennifer is well connected in the industry and was more than happy to give recommendations, connect me with vendors and answer all my questions (I had at least one a day!). I also had the unique experience of tagging along with Jennifer to work one of her weddings. From behind the scenes, she completely rocks at what she does. She took care of things before anyone knew they needed to be taken care of and made sure that everything ran smoothly the whole night. This was the experience for our wedding day, too! Jennifer is a complete joy to work with. Thank you times a million for everything!

I would HIGHLY recommend Altar Ego for any wedding planning needs. She made sure that our 'vision' was executed and really made our day special. I don't think I could've gotten through the craziness of wedding planning without her - she's easy to talk to, friendly, professional and dependable. I knew right away that she was the planner for me with her cheery and happy attitude. I was happy to know that our day was in amazing hands and all we had to do was have fun! -

Kendall Sent on 06/21/2012When I first started planning, no one could understand why I wanted a venue coordinator and a day-of coordinator. After my mom worked with Jen though, she understood. Jen stepped in and handled just about everything from setting up decor, making our day run smoothly, and sending us off into the night. When I forgot my purse at the venue, she was there to help out. When my veil fell out during my walk down the aisle, she was there to put it back in. I don't know how the wedding day would have been without Jennifer's help and I am certainly glad I didn't have to find out! -

Whitney Sent on 01/03/2012Being a self-proclaimed control-freak, I was hesitant to turn over any aspect of my wedding to anyone else. But, on the advice of those who love me, I decided to go ahead and hire a day-of coordinator. One of the best decisions I made... Jennifer was phenomenal!!! Not only did she help get things set up for the ceremony, she did a tremendous amount of work in getting the tables ready for the reception. Plus, she made sure the day ran smoothly into the night. That day was such a blur, but Jennifer helped make sure it was everything I wanted it to be. Trust me, ladies, do not try to go it alone. Let go of the reigns on your special day and just enjoy being the bride! Jennifer will make sure things are exactly how you want them to be. -

Donna Sent on 05/27/2010I cannot say enough about Elicia with Altar Ego Weddings. She was much more than just my "day of wedding coordinator," also the keeper of sanity. Elicia was on top of everything from vendor timelines to wedding party timelines. My wedding was at a very DIY venue (The Filter Building) and there were so many vendors and moving pieces, having Elicia there helped me have peace of mind and if anything went awry, I certainly wasn't aware of it on the night of the wedding! We also rented our linens through Altar Ego because their prices were better than most rental companies in the area.
Hiring Altar Ego Weddings for day-of-coordination was definitely the best value for the money that I spent on the entire wedding.
