Facilities and Capacity

Catering for 300 guests, The Wellwood’s tented banquet pavilion is the ideal spot for ceremonies and receptions. This climate-controlled setting has air conditioning for the summer months and heating facilities in winter. The restaurant can comfortably accommodate 50 guests for a private and intimate gathering. It offers a spectacular waterfront ceremony setup that overlooks the North East River, providing a stunning backdrop for wedding photographs. This venue is suitable for showers, engagement parties, and rehearsal dinners.

Services Offered

From casual to fine dining, The Wellwood offers a culinary experience of excellence. This venue provides a range of customizable catering options, including stations, a buffet, and served meals. It offers hors d’oeuvres and several vegetarian and gluten-free options. Specializing in Maryland seafood, this event space also offers off-site catering. The beverage packages include table-side wine service and an hour of cordials. A cocktail reception and chocolate fountain are available on request. The team will set up the main reception area with the couple’s choice of tables, chairs, china, flatware, and glassware. From appetizer displays and colored uplighting to cake cutting facilities, the professionals at The Wellwood take care of everything. The events team designs the reception floor plan and creates a day-of timeline to ensure everything runs smoothly. Suitable for the honeymoon night or day-of preparation, vacation homes are available for rental next door. This venue also has a shuttle service and guest parking. A water taxi is seasonally available and accommodates up to 15 passengers. Available for private cruises, the cab has a full bar and Bluetooth system onboard. Absolutely gorgeous venue for our day

Our wedding was one year ago today and I am finally getting around to writing reviews! I cannot say enough good things about Angela and her team. I grew up eating at The Wellwood Restaurant and always loved their food. Angela made choosing our meals, appetizers, and decor so easy. Everything turned out exactly as we had wished, and our guests could not stop talking about how amazing the food was and how beautiful our venue was!

Food amazing, Service exceptional

We had the perfect ceremony outside. It was raining all day and Angela was so helpful in getting it all organized and keeping it outside. We kept on track to keep it outside with a time that we needed to make the decision to bring it in. And lucky for us the rain stopped 10 mins before we had to bring it in! It was perfect!
The reception was so lovely! I went with a minimalist approach to the decorations, but they had it all set up so nicely I didn’t feel like I had to add much. The food was exceptional! We went with the buffet and everyone raved about the food! The service staff were some of the nicest people, we felt very well taken care off. Angela and he team were great. It was the perfect day!

Wellwood is 5 Stars

The Wellwood is an amazing place to have your Wedding Reception. You will not be disappointed. The venues, both the Wellwood Pavilion, and Eagle's Point were fantastic. The staff were professional, friendly. Angela was amazing to work with from the start to the end of the night's cleanup.
The food and service were outstanding. The food was served hot and tasty, which is not easy for 200 guests. The Pavilion transforms into a magical place.

Unforgettable wedding

Our wedding was on May 15 2021, and that was after three COVID-19 postponements. At the end of the day, I am ecstatic that we held our wedding and celebration at the Wellwood.
My now-husband and I were set on having a waterfront ceremony because of our love of the Eastern Shore. Back in late 2019, I was losing hope and made a call to the Wellwood one night out of desperation. I will never forget Angela, the event coordinator, asking me what was important to me and asking me questions about my husband and I. Back then, I’d consider myself jaded from the wedding industry, as a lot of venues were more into cramming as many ceremonies at once to make maximum profit. But Angela never made me feel like that – especially not during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when I called her in a panic and debated about postponing. When things were constantly changing, she was very understanding of my concerns and laid out what we could do to solve them.
Our ceremony was beautiful, facing the Northeast River, complete with a grand entrance that Angela helped facilitate with my bridal party. Guests were shuttled to the ceremony site. My only complaint is that I wish there were better options for guests in wheelchairs at the ceremony site and transportation, as the shuttle did not have a wheelchair lift. The food was excellent, even though there were some mix-ups with food on my end and a guest did not inform me they had allergies. Overall, an unforgettable night that was well worth the wait.

I cannot say anything but positive things about the Wellwood and Angela! We had the most perfect wedding there, and Angela was there to help every step of the way! Angela worked with me for over a year to help me plan my big day and she was very responsive and flexible whenever we met with her. We were concerned that we would not have enough space to store all of our decor, or enough time to set up the venue on the day of the wedding so Angela and her team allowed us to start setting up some of our stuff the night before the wedding to make sure that everything got done. Angela coordinated the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner to make sure that everything went smooth, and she was there during each step of the wedding day whether that was to drive me to my first look photos, made sure that my husband and I got a little time to ourselves on a get-away bus between the ceremony and reception that was packed with the appetizers that we might not have been able to have otherwise, made sure that my husband and I (plus our parents) had drinks throughout the night and she even got me a safety pin ASAP when my dress came apart on the top. I would HIGHLY recommend the Wellwood and Angela and her team for any event that anyone is planning!

We could not be happier with choosing the Wellwood for our September 9th wedding!!! Angela made sure that from the beginning of the planning process to the very last minute of our night, everything ran as smooth as could be. The day was absolutely stress free because of her and wonderful staff. Angela went above and beyond to accommodate for us. She even took the time to pack us to go containers of our meals in case we did not get the chance to eat. It just showed that she really does love what she does and cares for the couples that choose the Wellwood. We cannot say enough great things about her.

The venue itself was great as well. The scenery was absolutely perfect, since we got to say "I do" with the beautiful water view in the background. Our food was delicious, and we have heard nothing but compliments about how good everything was and how people cannot wait to go back there for dinner.

We would recommend the Wellwood in a heartbeat to anyone considering having their wedding there!

What more could I say about Angela, Larry, and the staff at the Wellwood? From the months leading up to the wedding, the rehearsal dinner, and the day of the wedding ceremony and reception, we were extremely happy with our decision to make the Wellwood such a big part of our day! My wife and I knew we wanted a place by the water and in the quiet little town of Charlestown you couldn't ask for a better view of the Northeast River as it opens up into the Chesapeake. Then, when it came time to taste test the food, that sealed the day. Angela was very busy, as many people schedule weddings at this gorgeous and affordable venue, but was always willing to make time for us to discuss any concerns or questions we had. The packages that they offered for food and open bar were very reasonably priced and the amount of food we got, on top of the top quality, couldn't have been better. Unfortunately on the day of our wedding, mother nature did not want to cooperate, as it rained, but Angela and her staff transformed the large permanent tent structure into a beautiful setting for the ceremony, and then again for the reception. Be prepared for a lot of guests to tell you how much they loved the food, staff, and service here, along with the quaint water views. Last but not least the afterparty at the main bar makes for a great time, and the Wellwood can even set up after party food for you to make it last long into the night! Thanks for everything Angela! We hope to visit soon!

I worked with Angela on my wedding and she was great.I'm so glad I chose this venue it was amazing every step of the way.Angela really helped me a lot and it turned out better then I imagined it would.The best part was not having to worry about anything Angela had it all taken care of things I didn't even think about I don't know what I would have done without her.I definitely recommend .

The Wellwood is the perfect wedding venue! We had the wedding of our dreams, thanks to Angela and the other Wellwood staff. The ceremony site overlooks the beautiful North East river, which makes for amazing photographs. The tent is awesome - you can't even tell you're in a tent because there's so much space. We wanted our wedding to be somewhat formal, but also wanted our guests to be able to relax and have a wonderful time. We got exactly what we wanted with the Wellwood! We got several compliments from our guests, stating that our food (baked salmon and filet and crab cake) was the best food they've EVER had at a wedding. It was delicious, and Angela even took the time to wrap up two extra plates for me and my husband to enjoy the next day. Angela is so thoughtful and organized, and really takes the time to make sure everything is perfect for you on your big day. We can't thank her enough for all her hard work. We would absolutely recommend the Wellwood to couples who are looking for a beautiful, affordable, fun venue at which to get married. You won't regret it!
