The Press Hotel is a boutique hotel wedding venue in Portland, ME. Situated by the old port of Portland, this 1920s-style building blends modern style with vintage charm. Originally the home of the Portland Press Herald, the venue offers a serene setting famed for being a writer’s paradise. With subtle nods to its past, couples can celebrate their romance where literary greatness has occurred.

Facilities and Capacity

The hotel offers four event spaces ranging from 300 to 1,000 square feet. These spaces are beautifully adorned with vintage typewriters, antique furnishings, and works of art on its gallery walls. The Composing Room is ideal for a seated reception of up to 70 people, while the Editorial Room offers the perfect setting for dancing and mingling. The two celebration spaces are connected by the hotel’s Art Gallery, a chic and spacious setting that creates a seamless flow between the wedding meal and evening festivities. The combined spaces, known as The Gallery Room, can accommodate up to 150 guests. Couples tying the knot within The Press Hotel can enjoy the luxury of the Presidential Suite while they prepare for their big day. With ten-foot high ceilings and an open space design, this luxurious suite guarantees plenty of comfort for the nearly-weds to enjoy. The Press Hotel offers 110 beautifully appointed rooms and suites where your friends and family will retreat and relax.

Professional and so easy to work with

We had such a wonderful experience working with Grace and team at the Press. Not only was the whole staff accommodating and kind but they were so great to all our guests. Grace made sure that the whole day went according to plan and paid attention to small details that were so important to my husband and I. The food was excellent and the atmosphere of the hotel made it the perfect spot for our small but intimate and special day.

Highly recommend

We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception here and had the awesome pleasure of working with Grace, their on-site wedding coordinator, she was amazing. I could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. Grace handled everything from the Friday night mixer, Saturday wedding and Sunday farewell brunch. I seriously can not thank Grace or The Press Hotel enough for an unforgettable wedding weekend.

A perfect weekend at The Press

Working with Grace and her team at The Press Hotel for our July 2022 wedding was an absolute pleasure. They accommodated all of our requests and curated a beautiful and stunning reception space for our cocktail hour and seated dinner. Grace assisted us throughout the entire planning process, including linen rentals, decor, seating chart, food/drink menu, and more. Our guests still rave about the food and drinks, and we found that the "family style" dinner was perfect for our 40 person reception. The service was exceptional from start to finish! Highly recommend The Press to any couples looking for a modern, elegant, and centrally-located Portland venue. Thank you to The Press Hotel for making our wedding weekend so memorable!

Unforgettable

From start to finish The Press Hotel was amazing to work with. They accommodated all our requests and were beyond helpful in the planning process. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with modern, unique decor and a farm to table restaurant and coffee shop on site this place will make you feel like royalty and wow your guests. From the seasonal, sustainable food and drink menus to the way the staff is always one step ahead of your needs, the atmosphere and service is truly above and beyond. Albert Thayer, our wedding coordinator handled our event with expertise and poise and I honestly cannot say enough good things about him. He is very dedicated to his craft and devoted to helping create the day of your dreams. Not to mention, he is one of the kindest most genuine people you’ll ever meet. I would chose him over and over again if I could. If you’re looking for an intimate, romantic and unique wedding experience, I HIGHLY recommend The Press Hotel and Albert Thayer.

Transcendent!

Our intimate wedding at The Press Hotel was a transcendent experience that is truly “beyond words.” The property is unique and awe-inspiring. With many of the original Portland Press Herald details preserved, it allows for beautiful backdrops and an atmosphere that is sure to impress your guests.

Anna Paschal is a gem... a bride’s dream coordinator! She was such a pleasure to work with, has an eye for the details, is always there when you need her and communicates so well throughout the whole process!

Chef Josh Berry surpassed his reputation known throughout Portland, ME for his cuisine at Union. With his innovative culinary skills and fresh local ingredients, he created decadent meals for our intimate dinner. He even asked about individual dietary restrictions for each guest! We hope to go back and have our same menu, cake included, for all our anniversaries to come! The presentation and taste of everything was superb!!

We would HIGHLY recommend The Press Hotel for an intimate wedding venue! You will not be disappointed .... with the 5 star hotel service, the beautiful penthouse suite that has a rooftop with a 360 degree view of Portland, gorgeous, comfortable guest rooms, the unique newspaper themed details, delicious fresh farm to table food/bar options and the people... Anna and Chef Berry in particular!!! Thank you for an unforgettable experience that really was BEYOND WORDS!

How to Describe Perfect?!

I cannot say enough amazing things about the Press Hotel and their staff. Everything was INCREDIBLE and I'm beyond thrilled we chose them for our big day! I struggled to write this review because I wasn't sure how to praise them enough! Anna - our sales/event manager - helped us with everything from start to finish with our wedding, from the agreement to the day of - and boy was she AMAZING!!! I'm in event planning for a living she and her team are hands down some of the best I've ever worked with. We felt so taken care of, and the process was simple and as stress free as can be. Anna went above and beyond for us, was super detail-oriented, and made sure our vision for our day came to life. She had amazing suggestions which we gladly accepted (i.e. the idea for our signature drink was all hers and was a huge crowd pleaser) , and when the hotel was running a promotion for our hotel room she actually updated our agreement to reflect the new price without us even asking. You don't find that everywhere! The day was perfect and our guests had the best time. I got texts from guests saying the lobby bar was pouring them champagne when they found out they were here for the wedding! And all of our guests knew every single name of the Valet staff - people LOVED them! Everything felt intimate/close-knit and high class, and everyone was taken care of amazingly the second they stepped on the property. I haven't even mentioned the incredible food, amazing rooms, and outstanding service! Ugh I could go on forever. If you're thinking of using them for your wedding please do - you will not be disappointed!! They have our business forever when we are in the area!

Amazing Venue!!

Anna and her staff at the Press Hotel were above and beyond what I could have ever expected for my wedding venue. We visited many venues and none of them were quite working - and honestly places we visited sort of left us feeling like we were doing them a favor when we were meeting with them.

We had stayed at the Press Hotel before and were always so impressed with the staff. What really put us over the top was once evening when we were trying to choose our venue, we decided to have dinner and stay at the Press. The sales manager, Anna Paschal knew we were coming in and arranged for some pretty awesome special treatment! It was that night that everything fell into place for us and we both were in love wit this venue.

The funny thing is that we ended up staying at the Press a few weeks later and never told anyone there we had booked a wedding and the service was completely the same - impeccable! We were treated so well and everyone from valet to front desk and bar staff was so incredibly courteous.

We continued to have this amazing service from the hotel and its staff through to our wedding day. Anna was so completely on top of everything and consistently checked in with me. She responded back to every question in a very timely way.

The day of my wedding the penthouse was breathtaking. I wanted to see the reception room set up but I was super busy getting ready, so Anna sent me many pictures. They totally nailed the set up and everything about the service on my wedding was amazing. Our wait staff was so prompt and pleasant - many guests commented on this!!

I am so thrilled to have had my wedding here. I would do it all over again if I could. We plan on going back for visits often because we love this place. I would highly recommend the Press Hotel to anyone looking to have a beautiful downtown Portland wedding.

The Press Hotel is spectacular

We had a New Year's Eve wedding at the Press Hotel. Every second of this event was perfect. The Press staff is absolutely wonderful and I cannot give enough stars to this venue. I only wish I could do it all over again! Thank you Press for making our wedding so very beautiful.

The food was delicious, the set up was lovely, and the staff was incredibly responsive, courteous, and professional.
