Going back to where it all started

My wife and I first met as young artists in the Wolf Trap Opera summer program, so The Barns were first on our list of places we wanted to get married. It meant so much to us to be able to return to the place that first sparked love between us and to share that magic with our friends and family on our wedding day.

Laura and the team at Wolf Trap were so very helpful every step of the way in helping us to throw what we fondly referred to as "a party with some vows thrown in at the start". It was certainly a non-traditional wedding as far as weddings go, but the team was flexible, and willing to roll with the proverbial punches as we laid out our plan for the best party of the century. From the skilled bartenders that all my guests loved chatting with, to making space for our entire boardgame collection, to helping us turn the dance floor into a makeshift movie space to watch the original 1993 Jurassic Park (a favorite of my wife), every detail was carefully accounted for and made possible.

The Barns are truly a beautiful, magical place, and you would be doing yourself a disservice NOT booking your special day with them. I can't recommend it enough!

The Barns were an absolutely beautiful venue. I think I would have been hard pressed to find something as beautiful in this area. Maybe Meadowlark Gardens? But the problem with Meadowlark is that you don't get to choose your caterer so it ends up being far more expensive and the food would have been nowhere near as good as the caterer I chose for the Barns!
They do have a preferred vendor list, but they are willing to work with you. The vendors on their list are all pretty great too, and there is a variety of vendors for every budget. I ended up choosing a lot of their preferred vendors and was extremely happy with them all. I had chosen a vendor and the event manager was very honest about her experience with that vendor and said they were probably going to be removed from the list. I appreciated that honesty.
I was a little concerned when the event manager for the Barns I had been working with suddenly left three months before my wedding, but Ginger Dockery was extremely reassuring and made sure that nothing unravelled while she trained the new event manager. I was extremely pleased with the response times on all emails and phone calls--they are very professional and easy to work with!
The wedding was absolutely beautiful and so many people loved the venue! They do limit decoration, but the lighting options and beautiful finished interior are really lovely on their own (it's not a dumpy barn, its absolutely stunning inside). Because the Barns needs no decoration or lighting vendors, you can focus your decorative energy on tables cloths, flowers, candles, and centerpieces instead :)
Because it's a national park, alcohol is an onsite thing handled by the venue only. They have different bar package options, and it's definitely pricey, but they are serving craft beers, excellent wines, and familiar brands of liquor.
This is definitely not the cheapest venue option, but I am so happy I was able to snag it for my wedding reception because it was fantastic!!!!

Wolf trap associates pavilion wedding

The Associates pavilion at Wolf Trap was wonderful for our fall wedding! As soon as my fiancée and I walked around the space we fell in love. The beautiful scenery from the pavilion that looked over a grassy meadow and forest was the perfect backdrop. In case of rain we had the pavilion roof which easily covered our 85 guests, and walls could also come down for additional coverage. There were overhead fans but the night was cool so the rented heaters were actually used. Parking was right next to the space, as well as the kitchens. The bathrooms were a short walk away. We had enough space for a cocktail area, dance floor, bar, and dining without feeling crammed. Drink service was excellent! The staff were very responsive and helpful throughout the process. We would highly recommend this venue!
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
