A rustic wedding venue in Maidens, Virginia, Running Mare is the perfect waterfront location to host your special event. Situated on the shoreline of a 20-acre lake, the venue is located 30 minutes west of Richmond. With an exposed timber frame and floor to ceiling windows, Running Mare will create an atmosphere you and your guests won’t forget!
Facilities and Capacity
Running Mare accommodates a maximum of 200 guests. Couples enjoy The Horse Barn, the Artist Loft/Bridal Suite, The Hay Barn and Groomsmen's Cottage. Built 45 years ago, The Horse Barn is the oldest structure on the property, offering couples a rustic, yet modern feel with a breezeway that overlooks Twin Rock Lake. With a spacious deck that also overlooks Twin Rock Lake, the Artist Loft offers couples a timber frame, open floor plan and over-sized windows. Lastly, The Hay Barn’s views spill out into the lakeside lawn and overlook the gardens, providing beautiful scenic views. Last but not least, The Groomsmen's Cottage is across the farm, well out of sight from the ceremony space!

Perfect Venue!
The Running Mare was the perfect venue for us! The venue and bridal suite are beautiful and it was just what we wanted for our big day. Robin and Austin are wonderful owners and they always answered any questions I had very quickly. They were also present on wedding day and helped with set up, clean up, and anything else we needed. A bonus was that it was very affordable. Highly recommend!!Running Mare's reply:

Robin and Austin were great to work with. Robin was responsive to all my emails in a timely manner for any questions or concerns I may have had. We knew this was the place even when it was cold and rainy In January. Austin was so welcoming and showed us before we booked the venue. On the wedding day they were present, but not overbearing in any way. They checked in on us the day before while we set up. Beautiful setting of the lake along with two options of arches for the ceremony site. There’s also a backup ceremony site if need. Spacious place for the bridal party to get ready and a separate place for the groomsman to get ready as well. The value we got for this venue was wonderful. Do not sit on this venue if you’re considering it for you wedding! We only had 75 people but it can fit more than that.Running Mare's reply:

We believe in giving you the best, most relaxed atmosphere possible, which translates into offering plenty of time for preparation, and celebration. Our goal is to provide a beautiful venue to
enjoy with your family and friends. The best part? Clean up is on us!
Gold Package $5,500
Friday set up/rehearsal: 10am-6pm
Saturday wedding/event: 10am-10:00pm (Bridal Party can arrive as needed)
Sunday or Monday: Schedule a time to pick up your belongings. No clean up necessary!
Platinum Package $6,560
Our Platinum Package accommodates the same as the Gold with additional set up time and a rehearsal dinner.
Thursday set up: 10am-5pm
Friday set up :10am-6pm
Friday Rehearsal dinner:6pm-9pm
Saturday wedding/event: 10am-10pm(bridal can arrive as needed)
Sunday or Monday: Schedule a time to pick up your belongings. No clean up necessary!
All of our packages include farm tables, bamboo chairs, decorative lighting, seasonal basic floral, restrooms, parking, parking shuttle, trash removal, clean up, and access to décor.
