A rustic wedding venue in Maidens, Virginia, Running Mare is the perfect waterfront location to host your special event. Situated on the shoreline of a 20-acre lake, the venue is located 30 minutes west of Richmond. With an exposed timber frame and floor to ceiling windows, Running Mare will create an atmosphere you and your guests won’t forget!
Facilities and Capacity
Running Mare accommodates a maximum of 200 guests. Couples enjoy The Horse Barn, the Artist Loft/Bridal Suite, The Hay Barn and Groomsmen's Cottage. Built 45 years ago, The Horse Barn is the oldest structure on the property, offering couples a rustic, yet modern feel with a breezeway that overlooks Twin Rock Lake. With a spacious deck that also overlooks Twin Rock Lake, the Artist Loft offers couples a timber frame, open floor plan and over-sized windows. Lastly, The Hay Barn’s views spill out into the lakeside lawn and overlook the gardens, providing beautiful scenic views. Last but not least, The Groomsmen's Cottage is across the farm, well out of sight from the ceremony space!

The owners are easy to work with and were eager to help in any way they could.
Hotels are 20-25 minutes away in Short Pump and you can reserve a Lyft for rides to and from the venue.
After our wedding, we received high compliments from all guests about the venue and how smooth the entire wedding was.
Cannot recommend this venue enough.
