Could not imagine a better place to have our wedding!

I don't even know where to begin... having our wedding at Rounton Farm was better than we could've possibly imagined. We visited after our first wedding venue had to close and were scrambling to find another location. Ellen was incredibly professional, easy to work with, and generous with her time from start to finish. She has a very calming and easygoing presence that made the planning process feel less stressful. She patiently answered all of our questions in the year leading up to our wedding, was extremely reasonable and safe about COVID, and understanding and supportive when we decided to postpone our wedding. With every request we made, she would work with us to find a solution -- she's truly one of the easiest people to work with! She made sure everything was where it needed to be during the wedding weekend and was flexible about our time on-site. When they had to fix an issue with their bridal suite, they seamlessly moved us over to her mother's home for getting ready (very kind of everyone involved).

The venue itself is stunning. We got married underneath the big oak tree, which offers a beautiful view of rolling hills. We really wanted a venue where everything was in one place, and it was awesome to be able to walk a few hundred feet from the ceremony location to the barn. The barn itself is in fantastic shape and the loft provides a great vantage point for guests and photos. There are also tons of flower bushes, hedges, and private spots around the property for family and couple photos. So many people told us that it was one of the most beautiful weddings they've ever been to, and a lot of that is because of Ellen and her family's great care of the barn and property.

I honestly can't think of anything we didn't love about working with Ellen and Rounton Farm. Having our first venue cancel on us was the best thing that could've happened, and I encourage anyone who wants to get married at a beautiful family farm to consider Rounton.

We also have to give a plug to our fabulous wedding coordinator, Trudy Slocum (trudy.slocum@gmail.com). She is truly one of the most organized, caring, and loving people I've ever met. She went above and beyond, over and over again, to make our wedding the incredible day it was. While we hired her as a month-of coordinator, she started working with us well in advance, met with us countless times to walk through details, troubleshoot issues, etc. She has a storage room full of decorations that she brings with her to weddings, which was a hugely helpful, and has a ton of floral and design experience. Beyond coordinating our wedding and providing decorations, she also crafted beautiful menu and transportation cards for us (out of the kindness of her heart!), shopped for and set up our cocktail hour grazing table, and helped with food and drink at our welcome party the night before. I can't count the number of times my husband and I looked at each other and said, "we are so lucky to have Trudy." She made us feel so comfortable and cared for -- our families adored her too. For our wedding, she brought her friend and caterer, Kim Beery-Stone (another absolute gem!), to help and the two of them did an incredible job. At no point during our wedding did we feel stressed or concerned about logistics. We were able to enjoy ourselves completely, and that is thanks to Trudy and Kim! We couldn't have asked for a better venue and coordinator combo :)

The Perfect Place For Your Special Day

This beautiful farm has multiple spots for your ceremony and an amazing barn for your reception. We used the area outside the barn to park food trucks and it worked perfectly. The owners give so many options for how to use and set up the property and are meticulous about every detail. The barn is magical in the evening with lights and the photo options are endless. Make sure to put this farm on your list of possibilities.

Above and Beyond

We could not have been happier with our experience at Rounton Farm!

Ellen is lovely, gracious, and accommodating, and planning our big day with her was enjoyable and stress-free. From our first conversation with Ellen, we knew that our vision and values for our wedding were understood and prioritized. Time and again, Ellen and her team went above and beyond what was expected to deliver something truly unique and special.

Every aspect of the venue is beautiful and full of the rustic character and charm of rural Virginia. The rolling hills and mountains beyond provided a breathtaking backdrop for our ceremony, while the red wooden barn and yard served to refresh and relax our guests with drinks and lawn games to spare. Parking is easy, bathrooms are close, and the barn's back-of-house allows for a large catering team to do an excellent job while remaining discretely out of site. Between the old oak rope swing overlooking the mountains and the horse paddock behind the barn, it is genuinely difficult to find a spot that ISN'T a good photo op for guests and party alike, and the number of framed wedding photos in our house proves it.

From arrival to sendoff, Ellen and her team at Rounton Farm consistently met and exceeded our needs with both practicality and elegance. Do yourself a favor and get married here.

Beautiful & Easy to Work With!

One of the most complimented parts of our wedding was the venue and how beautiful and fun Rounton Farm is! The barn is a rustic wedding dream - it barely needs any additional decor because the natural wood and rustic lighting is so beautiful all on it's own! There is a second floor for additional seating which ended up being so fun for our guests and also helped us get great photos of the reception and dance floor! Ellen made all the planning so easy - she was super responsive with all of our questions throughout the process and always had suggestions and ideas to help make our wedding dreams come true! She was always willing to let us (and our families) swing by for a visit to help envision the day. We also had access to the venue for the whole weekend which made the set-up and clean-up so much less stressful! We are so thankful we were able to have our wedding at Rounton Farm and highly recommend to anyone getting married or hosting an event!

Dream venue

Wedding planning is hard work! Picking out the details, coordinating a million moving pieces, and keeping everything within budget is a full-time job. One of the best (and first) decisions we made was to book Rounton Farm for our venue. We checked out a few other places, but never found a venue that combined the professionalism, care, and warmth that Ellen and her team demonstrated. They fully understood the stress of wedding planning and did everything they could to make our day go smoothly. Ellen always responded quickly and enthusiastically to our many questions and it was a joy to work with her. We also really appreciated the flexibility of having the venue available from Friday - Sunday because it meant we could focus on the wedding on Saturday and spend quality time with friends/family. Our guests still rave about how beautiful the farm was. Do yourself a favor and book Rounton Farm - you'll be in great hands!

Amazing venue

I can't say enough great things about Rounton Farm & Ellen. From the moment we arrived to tour the venue to packing up our things on Sunday morning after our wedding; Ellen was friendly, quick to respond to any emails, totally open to the idea of the wedding party shooting a few rounds of clays before the ceremony, and so helpful with suggestions.

The barn and their property is gorgeous and perfect for weddings. Our guests loved the atmosphere and playing the yard games (and swinging on the swing). The getting ready areas are nice (a little small if you're trying to do hair & makeup, but perfect for getting dressed) and we stayed Saturday night at the little cottage too.

We had such an incredible day and I can't thank Ellen and her staff enough for helping us have the best wedding!

Reminiscing back on my wedding day, I cannot think of a more beautiful venue to have chosen than Rounton Farm. The two-story barn is rustic and elegant - exactly what I was going for when choosing a venue. The owner, Ellen, was amazing! I cannot praise her enough for all of her help. She was quick to respond with every phone call, email and text I sent her. When we found out the local street festival was taking place on our wedding day and would cause logistics issues for guests to be able to get in and out of our church for the ceremony, Ellen was so quick to help. We ended up moving the ceremony to the Farm as well. The weather was perfect and the view of the mountains behind us as we said our vows was breathtaking! Ellen allowed me to stop by whenever I needed during the wedding planning process; this was very helpful when trying to visualize and plan the set-up for the reception. For the weekend of the wedding, we were allowed full access to the Farm from Friday morning - Sunday afternoon. This allowed us to have plenty of time for set-up beforehand and cleaning afterwards. Ellen was there the whole weekend to assist with anything we needed. She and the entire staff at Rounton Farm were so welcoming and inviting. Guests were in awe with the beauty of the venue. My husband and I couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to celebrate such a special day with all of our loved ones!

Ellen at Rounton Farm was so accommodating and amazing to work with. She responded to every email very quickly, and she was very flexible with our desires for the wedding weekend. We were allowed to use any vendors we wanted and do whatever we wanted with the barn (reception space), with the exception of lit candles. The nice thing was that Ellen gave us the farm beginning Friday morning until late Sunday morning. We were able to gather with friends and family on Friday to decorate and spend time together and have the rehearsal. On Saturday there was an adorable little house to get ready in for the ladies and a small area for the men to get ready, too. They were far away from one other, so there was no chance to see each other before the ceremony! You can even stay in the house on the wedding night if you wanted to. On Sunday morning we were able to go to the farm and gather our leftover belongings, decorations, and food. Ellen and her staff provide tables and chairs and take care of breaking them down and setting them up. My husband and I were able to take our engagement photos on the property and had our choice of 4 or 5 ceremony sites on the farm. The flexibility and family-oriented feel from Ellen and her farm was amazing and welcoming. Our guests had nothing but amazing things to share about the atmosphere of the farm and the beautiful views, and we would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a rustic farm wedding for a great price!

Everyone was shocked when we told them we booked a farm for our wedding. We don't know anything about the animals and we don't own any cowboy boots. Farms just aren't our thing.
When we started looking for venues we chose to just take a look because it was close to our house. It was the first venue on our list. When we got there, Josh and I both fell in love instantly. The two-story barn was stunning and the view of the mountains was killer! We looked around at several other venues but we kept comparing everything to Rounton. Nothing could compare in our minds.
Ellen, the venue owner, allowed me to visit the farm anytime I needed during the planning process. I stopped by at least 8 times, just to show it off to friends or to measure tables or practice our set up.
I was worried that the guests on the upper level might feel excluded but they all just kept telling me that they had the best view how they loved it up there!
Josh and I couldn't imagine our special day taking place anywhere else! It had everything we ever needed! Their new bathrooms are great! The space outside was plenty big enough for our 150 guests with our ceremony under the huge Oak Tree, moon bounce and cocktail hour on the lawn and the reception in the barn. Everything was perfect and our family and friends finally understood why we booked a farm.

We had my daughter's wedding here last weekend. It was fabulous from start to finish! Amazingly gorgeous site, great barn facility, and the manager, Ellen Pitera, is so easy to work with! I would do it again many times over! One of the nice points, other than the things mentioned above, is that you get the site for the entire weekend, which allows ample time to decorate and clean up without being pressured! Cannot recommend this highly enough!
