Old Red Museum is an 1892 Romanesque courthouse that is available for weddings and receptions in Dallas, Texas. Your guests will be enchanted by the building’s unique history as they walk along entryways made of marble and stone and up a four-story staircase. Commonly referred to as “Old Red,” this space was once the center of Dallas county life and government. Justice was served and meetings were held — and people also got married there. Today, you can revel in the history and create a memorable wedding celebration. Regardless of the theme and colors of your wedding, Old Red Museum offers several different spaces and color schemes to match your vision for your big day.
Facilities and Capacity
The picturesque event spaces are ideal for receptions and ceremonies. The Great Hall features tall ceilings, dazzling chandeliers and traditional Victorian color schemes that will help create a classy, sophisticated wedding reception. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 300 seated guests or 400 standing guests. There are two other rooms on-site, which work well for ceremonies. The Hatton W. Sumners Courtroom is restored to its original 1892 design and can accommodate up to 120 guests for a ceremony. This courtroom would likely appeal to history buffs and political aficionados. It contains a judge’s bench, jury box and gallery seating. If you’re looking for a more traditional ceremony location, the Restoration Room can accommodate up to 250 guests for your ceremony. Additionally, there is a bridal suite available for you to get ready on your special day, and the museum level can be used as a guest area for mingling, eating appetizers and drinking while the newlyweds have their photographs taken. Parking is available and the venue is wheelchair accessible. The venue is also home to various other interesting historical sites and items to see, such as the building’s clock tower, four terra cotta figures in the shape of wyverns, the fully restored Grand Staircase and a glowing red pegasus on the first floor.
When you rent Old Red Museum for your wedding or reception, the rental fee also includes tables, chairs and linens. The venue has a list of preferred vendors but is happy to consider others as well. For additional costs, an array of other services are offered, including a dance floor. The venue offers the following services:

The Old Red is a beautiful venue. I worked with Casey the event coordinator there, couldn't have asked for more. It was really nice working with Casey, she was very professional and responded to my emails very quickly. The PERFECT place to get married. As soon as i saw the venue i fell in love and i knew it was the one! It is the perfect place to get beautiful pictures. What i loved the most about The Old Red was that i got to rent out the whole 4th floor for my wedding. Also the staircase is amazing, reminded me of Titanic. Which by the way is my favorite movie. It truly was a fairytale wedding for us, i can say we got married in a castle!Sent on 09/15/2014

The Old Red Museum was a great venue for our wedding! We wanted something unique and flexible that allowed us to customize our wedding day. They allowed for us to bring in our own vendors and alcohol which helped make our day special. The venue itself was gorgeous and a perfect set up for both the ceremony and reception. Lawrence was great to work with - very laid back and also helped us with the lighting and parking. Definitely great value for our money.

One of our Ministers Rev. Paul Shirley did a wedding at the Old Red Courthouse this weekend and as always we just loved everything about it. It is such a classy location with such history and great location for pictures.
