Butterfly House and Native Gardens
Nestled in the historic Fair Park, Texas Discovery Gardens is a unique and welcoming wedding venue located in Dallas, Texas. The property comprises seven and a half acres of lush flowers, native and adapted plants, and organic gardens. When it's not hosting nuptials, the nonprofit welcomes children and adults through its doors to learn about conservation and the environment. Originally opened in 1936 as the Hall of Horticulture for the Texas Centennial Exposition, the conservatory was the first public garden in Texas. Featuring a house of butterflies, an insectarium, and a number of scenic event spaces, this is a dreamy venue in which to commemorate life's milestones.
Facilities and Capacity
Texas Discovery Gardens has two outdoor locations and two indoor areas for couples to hold their romantic celebrations. Outside, the Grand Allée offers a long and narrow lawn flanked by tall evergreen Savannah holly trees. A spacious green that can host upwards of 600 people, this site boasts a dazzling fountain at one end. More intimate exchanges of vows can take place on the Circular Lawn, which is ringed with evergreens and a serene koi pond. For a truly unique option, the Butterfly House is also available for ceremonies. This breathtaking, multi-level glass vivarium abounds in 500 free-flying butterflies, which may even alight upon the newlyweds as they tie the knot. This option is standing-room-only but makes for a magical experience that guests won't soon forget. Receptions can be accommodated in the Grand Hall, a versatile space that features floor-to-ceiling windows, spectacular views of the grounds, and seating for 250. Other spots that can be customized for wedding needs include the secret garden, shade garden, and meadow.
Services Offered
Couples may select the garden of their choice for the ceremony. Receptions are held in our 3-sided, two-story, floor-to-ceiling windows in the Grand Hall. The Grand Hall overlooks the Veranda and the Circular Lawn. We offer our couples the luxury of selecting the eight-hour rental that works best for their event. The 1200 square foot historic Bride's Villa is included in the rental as well as our Canopy Room for the gentlemen. We have several approved caterers for our clients to select from. You may bring in your alcohol that will be served by the caterer you select.

Stylish Service with a Southern Flair
As a florist, I am able to work with a lot of venues and this one is one of my favorites! It is not only beautiful, but the way the clients are cared for by the staff is top notch. The icing on the cake is the wonderful food provided by Two Sisters. It is always a 4-D experience setting up fragrant florals while smelling the tasty food being prepared for the day, Especially while sipping on a spiced ice tea.
It is always a treat to work at the Texas Discovery Gardens with Teresa and her crew! Can’t wait to be there again!
