Texas Discovery Gardens and Two Sisters Catering or amazing on my special day. The venue facility is great because it has outside ceremony options plus the huge reception space inside. The floor to ceiling windows gift so much natural light. It’s also a blank space so you can make it what you want. The cost for the space was very affordable.

The food is wonderful! Even from my first tasting, I was so pleased with how the food was prepared and served. Their staffing is wonderful and the price is fantastic as well!

I would highly recommend the venue space and Two Sisters to anyone looking for a great space and caterer for their wedding or large party.

Every time I get the pleasure of working with Teresa at the Texas Discovery Gardens, I am taken back by the hospitality, the beautiful set-up, and the outstanding effort by the staff.

As a florist, I am able to work with a lot of venues and this one is one of my favorites! It is not only beautiful, but the way the clients are cared for by the staff is top notch. The icing on the cake is the wonderful food provided by Two Sisters. It is always a 4-D experience setting up fragrant florals while smelling the tasty food being prepared for the day, Especially while sipping on a spiced ice tea.

Texas Discovery Gardens is always a favorite venue for our brides. As a planner, I love to suggest this beautiful hidden garden for the perfect outdoor/ indoor venue that has tons of flexibility and back up plans. It's so unique and special with the bride's house and butterfly garden. Combined with one of the best caterers in Dallas - Two Sisters and Theresa will make your day one to remember. Their food and service all around is unbeatable.

Teresa and team were amazing to work with throughout the entire process. I have planned events with her directly (Wedding and corporate) and there is such trust and understanding that I know all events will be handled professionally and beautifully. Teresa makes the planning process easy - especially when sending all the back and forth changes when it comes to finalizing details. She's more than happy to email, meet in person or jump on a call to walk through any questions and ensures day of runs smoothly for all vendors and clients!! She's the best and I know when I'm hired by clients and work with her - it's a guarantee success.

My fiance and I visited Tdg this past Saturday and toured it with Teresa. The tour was really nice, and Teresa did such a wonderful job and answered any questions we had during the tour! Such a beautiful spot! We also went inside the butterfly room and that was pretty fun as well. I like that if you go with the evening package, there is so much space for everybody to enjoy!

I can't say enough wonderful things about this venue and their event staffing! Both Abbey with TDG and Monica with Two Sisters worked closely with me to insure my daughter had an absolutely perfect day. They are so hands on and made sure to take care of whatever was needed so I could truly enjoy the day without worry. I couldn't be more pleased :-)

Tammy has been AMAZING in our planning process. She has been super helpful with planning the event and putting us at ease with the value of the venue.

We got over the top customer service, so much attention and detail with our wedding and I was so pleased with everything. Carson listened to my ideas, my goals and my dreams for the feel of the wedding and then she went above and beyond to make it happen. I wasn't given a cookie cutter package with preset flowers and cake, I was given an amazing customized experience that removed the need for a huge list of vendors and we couldn't have loved it more. This was truly a one stop shop type of experience. I would definitely recommend them for weddings and I know I will most likely work with them for more events in the future too! I think this is the best kept wedding venue in Dallas!

Texas Discovery Gardens is a hidden gem in Dallas - much like their event planners/coordinators! I could not have asked for a better wedding despite it POURING down rain all day prior to our outdoor ceremony. Carron, Tammy, and their team flawlessly executed my dream of a New Orleans style garden party (including the humidity! haha). They were gracious and supportive throughout the entire day despite the weather, and I couldn't be more grateful! It was just lovely!

Beautiful venue for a wedding! Tammy from Sugar City was a pleasure to work with, providing lighting, tables and linens. made it easy for our caterer to focus on the food!

This place has it all! Several Beautiful outdoor ceremony locations in the gardens, as well as inside the magnificent butterfly house. The outdoor locations are incredibly well kept with blooming flowers, stone brides and green lawns. The grand outdoor fountains are very well kept and surrounded by incredible landscaping. Just perfect for a regal and elegant outdoor ceremony. The Grand Hall reception site has wonderful floor to ceiling windows that lets in extraordinary natural light and features the sweetest raised wooden dance floor. The reception site has a wonderful layout with lots of space that can really be tailored to you and your wedding visions. Our wedding guests loved how much there was to explore in the gardens and butterfly house and was perfect for a kid friendly event. In addition to the amazing venue site, Sugar City Sweets party coordinators are located onsite and are run by some of the sweetest people we have ever met! These ladies are extremely talented and made wedding planning and day of coordination so easy and smooth. They took our vision and made it a reality!

Sugar City was great! I instantly fell in love with the venue and after speaking with Tammy and Carron I knew they would make our wedding day perfect. I was not sure of what I wanted in a wedding and Carron helped me come up with some great ideas. Sugar City coordinated my wedding, did all my flowers, and set up all my decorations. And I had a ton of decorations! I just gave Carron some ideas I had for flowers and she ran with it. The flowers were so beautiful and exactly what I wanted! Everything looked absolutely perfect! On the day of my wedding it was raining and Carron and Sonja came up with some ideas to keep guests busy until the rain stopped and we were able to have the wedding outside and it was beautiful. I loved that Carron customized everything to my needs and budget. I would give her my ideas and budget and she would come back with amazing options for me. I would highly recommend Sugar City Sweets! Everyone is so nice and they really took the stress out of planning our perfect wedding. Even on the day of the wedding while it was pouring rain Carron and Sonja were there to assure me that our wedding was going to be perfect and not to worry about a thing. I did not have to lift a finger on the day of our wedding…. Well only my ring finger. :)

I had no idea what I wanted in a wedding, except that I wanted a beautiful garden ceremony. I looked at several garden venues, but none were that impressive and all were pricey. After a tour from Tammy with Sugar City and I knew Texas Discovery Gardens was the place! The grounds are huge, gorgeous greenery and flowers, and the butterfly house is a unique touch to a wedding! And the best part-you will be floored at how affordable it is!

Sugar City works with TDG and set up the venue, provided flowers, decor, and wedding cake.

The Cake - I highly encourage you to look on Facebook for the next Sugar City open house. I tried Carron's cake after going to several other tastings. My search was over! The cake is moist (sorry for that word), dense (in a good way), and the icing was amazing! We chose champagne and creme brulee, but you honestly can't go wrong. I already knew it was going to taste great, but I was so surprised when I saw it! It was absolutely stunning and our guests raved about how great it tasted!

Flowers - I showed Carron some pictures from Pinterest, but was again surprised when her creations far surpassed what I had in mind! Seriously like something out of a magazine!

Decor - The colors and style of the tablecloths/napkins/centerpieces tied in flawlessly with the flowers and cake. Unfortunately, there was a monsoon on our wedding day, but the Sugar City team did an amazing job of setting up inside for the ceremony. They also quickly flipped the room for the reception while the guests toured the butterfly house! It turned out perfect!

The day was crazy and I didn't get to speak to Sonja much, but she also did a great job in making sure everything ran smoothly. I can't thank Sugar City enough for a perfect day! They truly exceeded all expectations. Carron is so genuine and passionate about what she does. You cannot go wrong with Sugar City & Texas Discovery Gardens!

This was, for my husband and I, THE best place to get married at! The reception hall was amazing! It rained on my wedding day and the ceremony was supposed to be outside so it was moved inside last minute. I was so impressed with how it turned out! I honestly can say that I am so happy that it was inside. During the ceremony (reception) the garden was visible through the floor to ceiling walls--it was our backdrop/background for our ceremony and was so beautiful!! Tammy along with Sonja were sooooooo helpful--I can not imagine how my day would have gone if they were not there! This is a beautiful place to get married at and the best people to work with!

We were thrilled with this location. Our guests still haven't stopped raving about how beautiful everything was and how they can't believe they didn't know Texas Discovery Gardens was there. Carron and Tammy both worked really hard with us and went the extra mile to plan the kind of celebration we envisioned, and we got the wedding of our dreams, complete with kids running around and everyone enjoying the butterfly gardens and playing outdoor games on a gorgeous Spring day. Stunning gardens, great indoor space, great people.

I am so glad we were able to get married at this fantastic venue! Carron and Tammy were both absolutely wonderful to work with. The are both experts in their field and were able to offer advice on any questions we had.

The venue is absolutely beautiful, and its so special that its right there in the middle of fair park. I highly recommend splurging on renting the butterfly house in addition to your ceremony/reception space. Our guests really enjoyed the opportunity to stroll around it during our cocktail hour.

Texas Discovery Gardens was an awesome place to have our wedding! I originally did not want an outdoor wedding because I did not want to have to be concerned with weather/bugs, etc, but I changed my mind when I saw the venue because it has a beautiful ballroom where you can have an indoor reception. So only the ceremony was outside and it was gorgeous. We got married in front of a fountain on a long lawn. So many guests told me that they had never been to TDG and were extremely impressed with how nice the venue was. Additionally, you stock your own bar which was important to me because I found the prices of bar packages to be outrageous so being able to stock my own alcohol (and return any unopened bottles as well) seemed like a great way to save. Anyway I think everyone at the venue did a great job and I have no complaints whatsoever.

The venue is beautiful! The price for the hall much better priced than a lot of surrounding venues for Dallas. Our wedding was wonderful!

Tammy is wonderful! She was so helpful from beginning to end! She made us feel at home, comfortable, and stress free.

I loved having my wedding here! I was a litte worried when I read some of the other not-so-great reviews, but I had only good experiences here.

The main ballroom is very large and pretty plain at first, but the huge windows looking out onto the gardens are so beautiful that you really don't need that much decoration in the room. My only complaint would be that I wish they still had the wooden floors that are in some of the pictures online, now it is a fairly ugly linoleum.

We had an afternoon wedding with croquet and lawn games on the circular lawn and this venue was absolutely perfect for it. I got so many compliments on the venue and gardens!!

Tammy from discovery gardens and Carron from sugar city sweets are amazing to work with! They truly were there to help with everything! I never felt like just another bride, they wanted to make my wedding perfect just as much as I did! Carron went above and beyond her call of duty to make sure everything was the way I wanted! She took all the stress away with our monthly meetings and walk throughout. They even surprised with a wedding gift which was beyond anything we ever expected! I can not thank them enough for making our day so special!

Texas Discovery Gardens is a beautiful venue to have a wedding. We loved working with the team and especially the planning team of Carron Short and Sonja Foster with Sugar City Sweets & Celebrations (they work out of the Gardens). We loved that the space was an empty canvas for us to make our own. It is very important to have good lighting on the day, because the walls can look a bit yellow and old. I loved all of the windows and openness that the venue provided. The gardens were in great shape and blooming for our April wedding. It was wonderful to be able to support a non-profit!

This place is an oasis. It's a happy little place in the middle of a busy city. My wedding was perfect, in large part because I had it here.

The garden's are beautiful. Tammy is such a darling, hardworking woman. I feel she went completely above and beyond the parameters of our contract to make my day perfect.

This is the BEST place to get married! I read the bad review and am sorry for her horrible experience but they are now under a new Director. Carron Short is absolutely WONDERFUL to work with! Weddings is what she does!! Making the bride happy is her pleasure! I have the unfortuate experience of having had two previously booked venues before finding her. So I can tell you for sure that it everyone is not as professional as Carron. Her vision for your day is splendid! We trusted her with EVERYTHING! I felt like she was my David Tutera. We married on the circular lawn and had our reception in a small portion of the Grand Hall. Our photgraphers set up the photo booth in the Gossip Lawn. The set up and take down went as expected. Parking is free. There was more than enough time for my vendors to get in and organized. The bridal suite is perfect for keeping you out of sight of guests and getting you out of the door for the ceremony. Even though the Gardens can't be closed, guests didn't disturb our wedding at all. One day before the wedding, I was meeting with Carron and she had a fit because there was a machine in the middle of the lobby 6 hours before an event was due to start. Now for her to react like that made me even more comfortable that our day would be perfect. Because of her, it was!! Even though she is the Director there, she helped is with so many other things. She also has a company Sugar City Sweets that did our dessert bar. The treats were soo good!! The presentaion was beautiful!!! I think that they are now offering different wedding packages that are not on-line. Please contact her about this. Let her know that LeAnn sent you and says hi!! :)

Our daughter's reception was at TDG, and we couldn't be more pleased. We had cocktails on the covered patio, and the reception was in the Grand Hall. Guests had full view of the beautiful TDG gardens, the perfect reception backdrop. The Grand Hall stage was large enough to accommodate the eight-piece band - a definite plus.

My husband and I got married here in March 2019! Texas Discovery Gardens is a beautiful botanical garden on the Fair Park grounds in Dallas. It's educational, well maintained, and everyone who works there is so friendly.

I worked closely with Tammy who is the Weddings Coordinator and she was great! Always very helpful and kind, and I feel that she had our best interest at heart. We used our own vendors for everything which worked out great, but they do have in-house vendors should you prefer to use theirs. In terms of having your wedding there, I would highly recommend it! Pricing was reasonable, although there were a few moments of frustration where I felt 'nickel-and-dimed' as it seemed everything I wanted had an extra fee, even the minor stuff, but I still had a fantastic experience. Something that TDG lacks that I'd love to see is more diversity in the employees there. The garden is located in the Fair Park neighborhood which is a part of South Dallas, so it would be awesome to see that the employees are as diverse as the surrounding community they serve. Giving opportunities to minority business owners is something I value which is why I outsourced all of my wedding vendors.

We reserved the grand hall (indoors), a small garden on the left, and the main circular garden. We also took photos inside the Butterfly room which turned out great!

I'll attach a few of my wedding photos here. I still receive compliments and my wedding has been featured in multiple publications online and in print! I truly don't believe my wedding photos would have turned out as lovely had I gotten married at any other place. It's truly a beautiful location. Definitely check this place out for your wedding location!

We loved everything about our wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens and we are so thankful for Sugar City sweets&celebrations for making our day so beautiful! The rain did not stop us at all! Everything from the food, to the flowers, the cakes, and the decor was BEAUTIFUL thanks to Carron and Tammy. Carron also helped calm down the frazzled bride too (but I'm not gonna name any names) :) Our friends and family are still calling and raving about how beautiful, intimate, and romantic our wedding was. Carron executed our wedding just as we hoped and dreamed! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! ♥ If you are considering having your wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens and using Sugar City, I highly recommend them. Carron even scheduled extra meetings with us to make sure that our day went smoothly. She really cares, and it showed in how our day turned out so amazing. We planned to have an outdoor ceremony, but it rained on our wedding day--- but our wedding turned out even better than we planned because Carron was able to move the ceremony inside of the reception space & everything was so beautiful; I cried when I saw it. It was the best day of our lives, and we are so glad that we chose Texas Discovery Gardens and Suger City to make our dreams comes true on our special day. P.S. The food is amazing, my cake was gorgeous, and my flowers were stunning! Everything was glam...just as I wanted it. :)

If you are wanting a picturesque garden ceremony and a beautiful setting for a reception, look no further! I think that since the venue is located in Fair Park, it is often missed. This place is so gorgeous, affordable, and it really is an oasis in Dallas. It was a bit hard to get a hold of the rental department at times but that really didn't matter because we had the most beautiful wedding we could have ever dreamed of at the Texas Discovery Gardens. If we had to do it again, I will choose here again. The gardens are beautifully kept and it just can't get any better than the floor to ceilings windows in the grand hall. It was a perfect venue for us!

This place is sooooo perfect. With access to an inside and outside spaces at this venue, it makes life so much easier if the weather does not want to act right.

The Sugar City team was amazing at helping with organizing our June wedding from start to finish! They knew exactly what we were looking for without us having to go in to too much detail about anything. It helped a ton having a team that could execute everything you'd need for a wedding (food, florals, etc.). The open house events were great and allowed us to meet various vendors that we could use for our wedding as well (i.e. bands, officiants, lighting, etc.). Everything during the day of looked flawless from florals, set up, timeline, food and table settings. It was better than we had hoped! Special thanks to Tammy for all her help through the planning process and for Shelbi for doing a wonderful job at executing all day-of items. Our only wish is that we could relive it one more time. Definitely would recommend Texas Discovery Gardens and the Sugar City team for any wedding!

Texas Discovery Gardens really is a hidden oasis in Dallas. I have been going to the State Fair for 3 years without ever realizing that it was there! The venue is absolutely gorgeous from early spring until late fall. There are multiple outdoor as well as indoor options for an onsite ceremony and reception. An added bonus is the butterfly garden which can be used for a small ceremony or as a walk-through for guests during the cocktail hour. This was the perfect back drop for our wedding and we needed minimal decoration.

Texas Discovery Gardens was the perfect choice for our wedding. The people were nice in allowing our vendors to come in and set up prior to the contracted time. We used the Grand Allee and the Grand Hall and our wedding was gorgeous. The only issue I had was the Grand Allee could only be used before sundown because there was not any lighting. However, we made the most of it and had a beautiful late afternoon ceremony and the reception was in the Grand Hall. We originally were considering The Dallas Arboreteum but the price was just ridiculous. I think Texas Discovery Gardens allowed us to have an even better wedding than we could ever imagine.

I can honestly say that these workers were great people and very helpful , any question that was asked they were ready with an anwer....the place itself is beautiful and close to home so even better!

Sonja is very nice and all workers including the clean up/ take down crew were very nice.

I really feel that this is a hidden venue in Dallas. I wanted to have my wedding and reception somewhere different that wasn't a country club or a hotel and this was just the place! You can use the gardens or the grand hall. I took advantage of the grand hall because the space is so versatile. You can really make it your own. They are doing many renovations on the building so it should be even better shortly. Keep in mind that this is an old building so it's not the glamour and glitz (though it could be with the right caterer and planner) that you think. The staff was very helpful. They were willing to let us take pictures in the gardens before hand, meet with our caterer beforehand, etc. I would definatly recommend this to those that are looking for something different than the usual place in Dallas.

Despite having a few issues, such as the lady who helped us book the venue & do all the walk throughs not being 'available' on the day of my wedding, and a concert starting close by, my wedding day went well and the location was beautiful. Was not pleased with the way the lady who helped us book the venue trash talked my vendors.

They didnt show a great hospitality and the host lied about what came with the package to get us in and the day of the wedding it changed.

The gardens are nice and not expensive to rent, but our ceremony was ruined, the lawn guy was mowing during the ceremony. The ceremony was at 11:00am and it was hot than expected. The circular lawn doesn't have any shade; they didn't have the courtesy to move the ceremony to a shaded garden. We were sweating! Also, I paid for 75 chairs and only half were out. They do not want to give a refund.

I recently attended a wedding a couple of weekends ago where a close friend was getting married at the Texas Discovery Garden. I had done a couple of walk throughs with my friend and I was so excited about her wedding. She had extremely beautiful handcrafted touches to the wedding and was getting married in the actual butterfly garden. Unfortunately there was something that my friend could not prepare for on her wedding day and that was the horrible attitude and service of the coordinator- Caron Short. If you are planning on having your wedding here please try and find someone else to help you.

She was extremely rude to the sweet bride and very mouthy. Initially she had promised the bride that all of the bug exhibits would be removed from the lobby. On the wedding day someone politely mentioned that they still hadn't been removed and she was very prompt to go into the dressing room where the bride was getting ready and yell at her that she couldn't move them. Being in the room with the bride along with about 6 other people we were all horrified with how she spoke. I mean, it was the kind of sass that a 13yr gives their mother. The bride remained very composed the entire time and the resolve was that they would just cover the bug exhibits with linens. Caron only came in and apologized when the groom asked her to.

I've been to many, many weddings and I have never seen a wedding coordinator treat someone like this. She also was late for her appointments with the bride, triple booked appointments, created a cake that the bride did not agree to, and accused the photographers assistant of yelling at her when all he was doing was politely asking her to step away while they took their couples portraits after the ceremony (again, I was a witness to this) I'm shocked with this woman's skewed perception and she in no way should be responsible for anyones "special day"-she'll ruin it.

I loved the venue and despite Caron's unprofessionalism the bride and groom had a wonderful wedding thanks to their hard work, family and friends.

Again, if you find yourself wanting to use this venue just do yourself a HUGE favor and avoid working with Caron.

BUYER BEWARE. NIGHTMARE. DISAPPOINTING. UNPROFESSIONAL. I signed my contract over a year in advance. I feel in love with the grand ballroom, it fit me perfectly --overlooking the garden, huge floor to ceiling glass windows- beautiful. I booked the entire day which meant paying for two rentals, morning and afternoon/evening. I had no problem doing this as I knew I wanted everything to be setup in time and had the budget to do so. After I signed the contract there was not much contact until closer to the day when I need an inventory count of tables for my floorplan, linen counts, ect. I email THREE times from me and additional emails from my wedding planner, there was no response and then a response that because the floors were being redone they could not locate all of their pieces and could not give me an accurate count. I tried to schedule my two week out appointment with the venue A MONTH in advance and they were too busy, booked or unable to meet with me. I felt that as a booked event, they did not care anymore since money had been paid. They received a final agenda from my wedding planner at least three days before the wedding- DURING the rehearsal at 5pm on Friday they call saying I cannot do confetti poppers on the floor UNLESS I paid an additional $200 cleanup --on top of the cleanup crew I already hired. THIS IS A SCAM. TGD then called me at 11:00am on my wedding day to get a credit card for payment. I told them it was not acceptable to call on the wedding day for money and it could have been handled afterwards. I told them I was not discussing it any further and handing the phone off to someone else for payment. They continued to yell at my maid of honor who had the card, she had to ask them to stop yelling and just take the card number. TDG's contracted sales person pocketed the money- no where in their paperwork does it talk about additional cleanup. She knew that it was too late for us to change anything hours before and took advantage. I was told I had to hire TGD's recommended cleanup crew in order to avoid loosing my deposit. Our rental time was until 11:59pm. We ended our reception early around 9:30-9:45pm. My mother and I were still hugging guests goodbye, guests still on the dance floor, and talking, and the clean up crew was flapping the garden chairs shut, echoing to where we could not hear our conversations (DJ had already stopped playing). No one has authorized them to do start cleaning up, they took that upon themselves. Then they stood next to us as we said goodbye to people, and waiting for us to move so they could take more chairs. They started moving all of our centerpieces off WITHOUT permission and putting up tables. We left at 10:30pm. The other MAJOR issue is that the AC was not working during our event. It was an 80 degree day, and even hotter inside with the humidity from guests sweating, and the sun shining through the glass windows. I was so hot that my planner was icing down my back and checks, most guests went outside to cool off and others tried to help by keeping doors to the lobby open. It was cooler outside than inside the room. TGD's staff yelled at my guests from trying to open doors to cool off. I met with the director two weeks after the wedding and she took notes then sent an email offering $350 return of money from my $4100 rental. I told her it was not a satisfactory settlement I would disputing all credit card charges. They turned very ugly and extremely unprofessional. My wedding planner has written letters to back my disputes as well as called the director and expressed concerns as a business partner associated with them. It has turned into a huge mess. I am very disappointed especially because I work in this industry (event director at a golf club) and know what is reasonable and unreasonable to venues. They are aware that I am writing reviews and writing to the BBB. Best of luck if you book here, it is a beautiful facility with POOR management, unprofessional staff, money driven directors, and have found every way to "contract" or "recommend" their vendors but receive money on the back end from them and then are not responsible for anything.
