Hi! Welcome to the Wedding Wire home of the Left Coast Quintet, or LCQ for short. We provide live, unique, entertaining performances of music you will absolutely love.

I'm Dan, the founder and bassoonist (the big wooden stick looking thing), and I'll be the one coordinating with you through your wedding music planning journey. My group absolutely loves music and performing, and you can pretty much tell by how comfortable we are around each other. We are professional musicians, each with over 25 years of performance experience with symphony orchestras, big bands, stage productions, traveling pop groups, and more. We play a wide variety of arrangements, everything from Bach to the Beatles, you'll find it in our library. We do film music (Disney, Harry Potter, Star Wars, a ton of movies), jazz, Broadway, pop covers...right now we have about 700 arrangements in our tablets and that list is always growing as we have an arranger on our staff!

I know many people think that the "traditional string quartet" is the go-to ensemble for providing live wedding music, and I love my string counterparts...I just think we are better. Honestly, the immersive ambiance of our quintet envelope you and your guests with the memorable and warm sounds that people absolutely love at weddings - we constantly have people coming up to us during prelude or cocktail hour with smiles on, and our reviews from our clients also showcase how much they and their families and friends were blown away by what we bring. Our group sounds amazing indoors or outside, we need no amplification and will not overpower your ceremony venue.

So if you are a fun, unique music lover - or if you're not a music lover but know your family and guests are - I'm excited to work with you. Send me a message and we can chat over your vision for musical ambiance, and I'll shoot you some behind the scenes secrets for the many wedding venues and vendors in town too!

Cheers!

-Dan

    Best Music Possible

If you are in need of music, book LCQ ASAP!

Wait, that didn’t convince you? Let me elaborate! Left Coast Quintet was an INCREDIBLE choice for our wedding. Dan and group are highly professional, supremely talented, and easy to work with.

We hired LCQ to perform for the wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour of the reception. Their list of music was impressive and included both traditional songs and whimsical choices. For us Disney/jazz fans, the options allowed us to choose unique pieces to fit our personal style. It was beautiful to see our guests (including the children) recognize Rainbow Connection, Edelweiss, We Don’t Talk About Bruno, etc. Our only regret we have is not hiring them to perform for the entire reception!

We would unequivocally recommend them to anyone who is looking for live music for any event.

    Left Coast Quintet's reply:

Wow thank you! It was an absolute honor to play for you two and to bring that awesome ambiance and fun music to your ceremony and reception!

Do yourself a favor and book the Left Coast Quintet!

The Left Coast Quintet was the perfect choice for our wedding ceremony. Wanting to do something different than the average wedding ceremony, we were inspired by Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" that pairs short musical movements with a narrated story. The group's main contact, Dan, was enthusiastic about the idea and graciously spent hours with us over the phone to help us perfectly pair musical selections to each segment of our ceremony from their extremely vast song list across all different genres. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out and continue to receive rave reviews from our guests!

    Left Coast Quintet's reply:

Thank you so much, it was an absolute pleasure to perform for this beautiful, unique wedding ceremony!!

    Very accommodating, great sound.

My daughter's wedding had some weather challenges: rain. But Left Coast Quintet were willing to set up under a gazebo and the music went on. In fact, they made it fun by playing "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" and "Singing in the Rain." LOL. They were even willing to play a wedding march I composed for our walk down the aisle. Very meaningful. My daughter always wanted a live ensemble and we got a great group for her.

Dan Weiss
Dan Weiss
Bassoonist, Founder & Artistic Director

Hi! I'm the Founder & Artistic Director of LCQ, and basically the guy who updates the websites and talks to our clients. I was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and no I didn't ride my horse to high school - nor do I have a traditional Texas accent, but I can do a really good impersonation! I came to California to study at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and the beautiful Central Coast enthralled me with beach bonfires, mountain biking, bbq's, and a little bit of studying here and there. I had the pleasure to perform with the professional and fun symphony groups, as well as travel up and down the state to perform in festivals and at private events.

Since moving to San Diego, I've kept myself busy! Bassoonists are pretty rare, so I'm constantly asked to perform in symphony groups and with theatre stage production orchestras. I've even had the pleasure of crossing over into the pop music world while performing with Jason Mraz, Evanescense, and Lindsey Stirling.

I'm very happily married to a wonderful middle school science teacher, and you can find us with our pup and 'forever +1', Watson, on trips to OB dog beach, Fiesta Island, checking out local restaurants in our neighborhood of University Heights, hikes at Mt. Laguna, going to concerts, and plenty of bonfires and bbq's with friends. My day job revolves around running emergency management and response activities for the State of CA, as well as keeping up with the business side of the quintet.

Let me introduce you to the rest of the quintet below:

Erica Gamble
Erica Gamble
Flute

Erica is an insanely talented flute player and a very smiley, happy person. She's also a smartie pants, and achieved degrees in biology and psychology, with a minor in music performance from the University of California, San Diego. She has been a member of the La Jolla Symphony for over 20 years and has performed with various local ensembles including the San Luis Rey Chorale, Rose Canyon Harmonie, Villa Musica, and the North Coast Singers.

Thankfully she landed on becoming an expert on flute, but her early musical adventures also included piano, alto sax, and marching snare drum. In high school she added piccolo to her arsenal and joined the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra as principal flute, and as an adult she treated herself to an alto flute. (Because who doesn’t love alto flute?)

When not playing music, Erica works as a Marketing Data Strategist for Sharp HealthCare.

RB Anthony
RB Anthony
French Horn

RB is the jokester of the group, and comes from a family of incredible musicians. He was a full-time musician for many years, performing on the French Horn locally and at Disneyland - it's no wonder he's so happy. Having been a performer, arranger, director, and educator in the field, RB has always had music as part of his life. He has taught on the music faculty of Point Loma Nazarene University, and we are so happy to call him our horn player because honestly he is one of San Diego’s leading freelance horn players.

He graduated from Grossmont High School and attended San Diego State University as a Music Education Major, where he participated in many instrumental ensembles. He has written over 300 arrangements for brass and woodwind quintet, and can be heard on several recordings and soundtracks. Yes, he does write a lot of our musical selections, especially if it is Disney themed.

RB is multi-talented and his endeavors are not just performing, but also making other performers look amazing! This past summer marked the sixth year that RB has worked as “Score Reader” for the San Diego Symphony’s video director, which provided an opportunity to put his audio/visual experience to work with his musicianship.

RB currently resides in Lakeside with his musical wife, two (non-musical) dogs, and a cat. When not rehearsing or performing, RB and family can be found at a Padre game or some live entertainment event.
