If you are looking to bring the natural, simple beauty of the outdoors to your special day in a magical way with a cozy garden party theme, beautiful floral decor and installations, then you have found the right place! LeFay Cottage is unique, and we LOVE to share that Middleburg Life named us "The quintessential cottage-core and faeriecore wedding venue". We also most recently have had the opportunity to be featured on the cover of Virginia Bride Magazine in the 2022 Fall edition, featuring our Hawks & Owls that can be a part of your special day, as well as Washingtonian Bridal Magazine, Forbes & Southern Living.
The cottage, located approximately 90 minutes from Washington, DC, offers an ideal rural escape near the historic village of Washington, Virginia. The three bedroom, two bathroom property is located on five acres overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. The cottage itself is adorned with French and English antique furniture and decor. With so much natural beauty and history surrounding LeFay Cottage, the venue provides everything you need for a cottage-core themed wedding, space for a wedding party to prepare, and the bride and groom to stay.
There are three outdoor areas for couples to marry: The Secret Forest, The Love Lavender Field and the View of Old Rag Mountain, each with its own cottage-core, natural splendor. “The Love Lavender field in particular lends itself beautifully to a cottage-core themed wedding amidst the purple hues and fragrant wafts of lavender. The lavender is in full bloom at the end of June and early July - a perfect, natural wedding for a couple that enjoys the path less-traveled.”
Speaking of those who enjoy the path less-traveled, LeFay Cottage has plenty of activities for the outdoor-adventurers, both off the beaten path of the Rappahanock backroads, and those looking for a more touristy experience in nearby Shenandoah Valley. Hiking, biking, rock climbing - you name the outdoor activity - and you’ll likely find it here. For those looking to explore the historic village of Washington, LeFay Cottage is only two miles away from the famous 3-star Michelin restaurant, The Inn at Little Washington, as well as other fine and casual dining restaurants, award-winning wineries, and distilleries, to name a few.
LeFay Cottage offers a variety of packages for brides with outdoor ceremonies that include “gorgeous chiavari chairs with cream cushions, and an ornate secret garden canopy, as well as a cream French Provincial couch, coffee tables, and French chairs for guests to feel as though the cottage has been extended onto the land as part of the rental of the coverage. Perfect Fairytale Dream Wedding
The outdoor ceremony site was an enchanted forest with a beautiful intricate metal archway against the backdrop of the Shenandoah Mountains, which was exactly what we were looking for! I also had this vision of being married in a fantasy forest setting, which is hard to find in a venue along with the mountain backdrop (because the trees block the view, I guess), but LeFay Cottage beautifully delivered that vision, the forest even had a dragon nest and a large metal dragon sculpture! The surroundings were captivating and provided a fairy-tale ambiance that we will cherish forever. (Note: There are two other choices of ceremony site as well, including a heart-shaped lavender field).
We spent the weekend at the venue with our four children, which was also perfect as it allowed us to wake up and get ready without going anywhere and then unwind in the charming cottage, snacking on leftovers with the family after the festivities. The cottage itself is full of magic, including a whimsical wardrobe, a fairy garden bedroom… even some secret fairies hidden in the decor!
A special shoutout goes to the owner, who was incredibly supportive and understood our vision perfectly. Her "sprinkle of fairy dust" truly brought our event to life! She provided invaluable vendor recommendations, including a DJ (Bob), and a talented photographer (Viktoria), both of whom contributed significantly to our day being a success.
In sum, if you're looking for a wedding venue with beautiful scenery, a magical ambiance, and exceptional support, we recommend LeFay Cottage. We couldn't have wished for a better place to solidify our commitment to each other and make our family whole. Thank you, LeFay Cottage, for making our day unforgettable!
Enchanting is only the beginning
My wife and I were married at LeFay, and it was beyond amazing. The views were beautiful, the location was serene, and the guests loved everything LeFay allowed us to offer.
We originally thought that the perfect venue was one that allowed our imaginations to be the limit of our possibilities. When we met Sally Anne, we learned that our imaginations were only the beginning of the enchantment. Sally Anne had wonderful recommendations as we talked through our dream wedding. She had an eye for the magical, and every recommendation was a clever addition to our vision. She never came off as pushy or salesy; every idea of hers was well thought out and perfectly aligned to our ideas and budget.
Above and beyond, when we asked Sally Anne if she had recommendations for other vendors we were still searching for, she produced the most incredible list of partners she strongly recommended. We were not disappointed. Each vendor we spoke with was equally as professional and thoughtful as Sally Anne, and after our search for the perfect vendors, we had assembled every piece from Sally Anne’s list. We now had the perfect venue, food and drinks, music and entertainment, décor, photographer, additional events and luxuries for the guests – everything! I see why she calls what other call ‘a preferred vendor list’ her “Magic Makers.” They truly were some of the most creative, friendly, and (again) enchanting people I have ever met.
If I had to do it all again, I’d make LeFay my first stop and save myself a lot of time I had spent trying to find each piece of the wedding puzzle at first without Sally Anne’s help. She and LeFay were the reason our wedding was so enchantingly perfect (and stress-free).

Dream wedding!
We were looking for a last-minute location to get married that was in the country, yet close enough to go to dinner at The Inn at Little Washington. We wanted to have something small and unique, but we also had some special needs that we were looking to accommodate. Sally Anne was so helpful from the moment we reached out. She was easy to work with and had helpful suggestions that ended up making the day so much more special.
The cottage and grounds are so beautiful with so many unique touches from the fairies on the gates at the entrance to the beautiful artwork inside. Each of the three bedrooms has its own personality and the two full baths allowed our wedding group to get ready comfortably. Our daughter especially loved the fairy room. There were a lot of locations on the property we could have had our ceremony set up, but we opted for an indoor wedding because of the temperature and everything worked out so well. The space suited our needs and the lighting was perfect for the photographer.
The wedding packages were awesome for us and helped reduce the stress we had in making plans. Sally Anne was able to work with our needs and provided us with a package that made it the perfect day for us. From the suggestions for a bridal shop, to providing an excellent and easy to work with photographer, the gorgeous flowers, the civil celebrant, and all the little details at the venue itself. Everything went off without a hitch.
Sally Anne’s personal touch made everything so simple and easy that we had no worries as the day unfolded and we appreciate everything she did for us. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect day. Our experience at LeFay Cottage was amazing and made for a lifetime of memories.
