Beautiful Space & Amazing Staff

Kitchen Chicago is such a beautiful space - and we are so happy it was the site of our wedding. Nicole and Orlando are incredibly easy to work with. Nicole handled all of our inquiries leading up to the wedding and was so responsive. She always worked to accommodate our needs - including finding space to store popsicles the day before our wedding. Orlando supported logistics the day of the wedding, and made sure that everything was delivered smoothly and that our vendors were set up for success. He even made sure we didn’t leave anything behind as my we live in New York. Overall, our wedding was amazing and beautiful and that was thanks to the Kitchen Chicago team!

Kitchen Chicago was a great decision!

We probably looked at over 15 venues for our July wedding. We knew we were too nervous to have a completely outdoor venue, and it wasn't in our budget to go with a space like Salvage One with both indoor and outdoor options, but we wanted a place that felt like it had it's shit together and had successfully hosted parties and weddings.

Enter Orlando. Orlando was the front-facing employee we dealt with for Kitchen Chicago, and he gave us an hours long tour on a Wednesday afternoon, complete with specific details about dos and don'ts for the venue space, dressed impeccably and fully accessorized. He answered questions we didn't know we had, calmed our fears, and still made us feel that our wedding would be unique and one-of-a-kind (#milleniallyfe). We were able to schedule multiple follow-up meetings with various vendors, he was available to answer questions and figure things out through day-of and day-after, and was just generally a delight to work with. As we got closer to our big day, we also worked with Nicole quite a bit, who was also such a joy!

The space itself is great- if you like the feel when you are there for a tour, you'll like it even more when it's decorated for your event. Our caterer was happy with the kitchen access, our DJ was able to setup easily, the natural light was on point for our photographer, the various decor vendors pulled things off without us even noticing- but the real meat of the venue-couple relationship is the people. The people at Kitchen Chicago are outstanding. Flexible, clear communicators who have limits and rules and stick to them without emotions taking over or trying to surprise you with something sneaky at the last minute. They bring to the table experience and knowledge of past mistakes and successes to make sure that your event goes even better than the last.

We had our wedding reception at kitchen Chicago a few weeks ago. It was absolutely beautiful and didn't need much decorating. Nicole and our amazing caterer (Cocina Fusion) planned so many things that I didn't need to worry. They tried to accommodate us around our needs time wise, etc. Orlando is great and it was nice to have him around to make sure things we running smoothly. I highly recommend this cool, urban space that is affordable!

Gabi Dorsch
Gabi Dorsch
Director of Catering Sales & Operations

Hospitality runs in Gabi’s blood - she was born and raised in Germany and by the age of 11 was already working in the kitchen at her Aunt’s restaurants. After a number of years working in the family business Gabi began her formal professional career at the Hotel Dorint in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Looking for a change of scenery, she set off to Namibia to work as a house supervisor and chef at a game resort (and even worked on a hunting farm that only had enough electricity for 2 hours a day!) She then went to work in the Canary Islands off the coast of Northwest Africa in hotel operations and as a tour guide for the Isla La Palma. A few years later Gabi jetted back to mainland Europe and landed in Spain where she owned a restaurant near the port of Empuriabrava in Catalonia. Finally, she headed stateside to Chicago where she had started working with the Spanish Embassy on a two-year contract with the plan to move to Argentina upon completion. But within her first year here, she fell in love with Chicago (and has yet to visit Argentina.) While in the Windy City Gabi worked with a wide variety of renowned restaurants and catering companies before heading to LM. When not working, Gabi can be found cooking for friends and family, traveling, scuba diving, or fueling her flamingo obsession. Her dream is to one day own a small B&B on a beach or island.
