Q: How long have you been doing photography?
A: I have been doing event photography for six years. I started doing work for musicians in Austin and from there grew and expanded my experience to weddings, Quinceaneras and other memorable occasions. I take my work very seriously, but at the same time absolutely love what I do. I’m a published photographer with loads of dedication and creativity and do it with a smile.
Q: How would you describe your photography style?
A: I have a lot of stylized, artistic undertones in my images as I have a strong Art background. I love high-contrast or soft tones, rich color or elegant black & white photography. I do not over produce images, but I often appreciate turning your images into lasting art. I do a mixture of posed and candid images. The formal photo is the staple of weddings and surely you don’t want to be without it! On the same note, the candid, photojournalistic style I use is very poignant in capturing those emotions of the day.
Q: Do you charge a deposit or booking fee?
A: Yes I do. There is a non-refundable retainer fee (1/3 of package cost) due at the time the contract has been signed. This fee is to book your date and is deducted from your total balance.
Q: When will we get our proof/prints/digital negatives?
A: Turnover time for receiving your prints/digital negatives are approximately 2-3 weeks. Please note that photo albums may take slightly longer.
Q: Do you shoot in color or black and white? Or both? Do you shoot in a digital format that can create both color and b/w versions of the same picture?
A: I only shoot in digital, so yes; I can create many versions of the same image and not lose any of the high quality. You can get images in full color, spot color, b/w, sepia and other variations.
Q: What kind of input can we have on the direction of the shots? Can we give you a shot list to work from?
A: This is about YOU and YOUR DAY! Of course you can offer art direction if you’d like. I can definitely work off a shot list so you let me know what shots you really need. We need to communicate as a team to capture the images you want, so your input is always welcome.
Q: Are you equipped for night ceremonies? Low-light situations?
A: I have fast, professional quality lenses, tripods and light modifiers to help with low light events, and I have experience in shooting in those conditions. Please note that though I have lighting, I can only use them on the agreement of the venue of your occasion. It’s good to know beforehand what the venue allows (extra lighting, flash, reflectors, etc) so I know what is needed to compensate for the poor lighting.
Q: What type of photo equipment you have?
A: I work only with Nikon DSLR cameras. I also have duplicates of batteries, memory cards, flashes, lights and a growing collection of lenses.
Q: Do you do photo albums?
A: Yes. I design and ship flush mount albums to your doorstep!
Q: Do you charge overtime?
A: My standard day is 8hrs. Anything over that is an additional hourly charge. I may also waive that cost at my own discretion.
Q: Do you have a studio?
A: No. I don’t consider myself a “studio photographer.” I believe there’s an environment right for all photography, but I personally do not think the studio is one of them for the work I do. I like on-location shooting because it’s so much more interesting and personal. You get to choose your favorite spot or a place that best expresses you, and you can let go and let yourself shine in the photos. I want my clients to feel as if they are in familiar territory, not like they’re trapped between four walls and a big camera staring down into their souls! Not having a studio also keeps my cost down. I am not charging you extra to keep my storefront open.
Q: Why do you say, “Couples are subject to screening?” on your website? Don’t you want our business?
A: I’d love your business…but only if we can get along and actually like each other. Sounds funny, I know, but you can ask any ethical photographer and they will agree—the work, the images, the whole experience is so much better for all parties if we are compatible and on the same page. Meaning you should take into consideration if you like the photographer’s style of work, how they communicate, and if you get good vibes from them. If we’re tense, sketchy, or just plain don’t respect each other, all the money in the world will not help that and the experience shooting for both parties will be horrific. Which is why the initial consultation is so important. If I feel we won’t make a good match, I’ll decline your offer and recommend some photographers for you.
Q: Who will cover my event at Fuselier Photography?
A: Me, Me & me! The beauty of working with me is just that…. you’re working with me and not some salesperson that chats me up to coax you into business. When you’re emailing, calling or meeting with someone to capture your memories, that someone better be the one who’s gonna hold the camera. From the initial consultation, the day of, and the day after…I’m the one who will take care of you.
