We were looking for a wedding photographer and stumbled upon David Perlman’s page. While we were first attracted to his style and his ability to capture people being their best selves in the moment, we knew we wanted to hire him after our first call. We were immediately impressed by his amazing personality, both professionally and genuine excitement for what he does.

We can’t recommend David enough! He takes his job so seriously and really gets to know each couple to understand what they want for their wedding day, while also making them feel completely comfortable. For the actual wedding, you end up spending a lot of time with your photographer, so you’ll want David there because he takes his job very seriously with a smile on his face the whole time.

We weren’t sure if we wanted to have video, and we are so glad we ended up doing it. With the big day nerves, we blanked during some moments, like walking down the aisle and our first dance, so we’re grateful that those moments were captured. His team, Saul and Didi, are also so good at what they do.

David accommodated every single request and went above and beyond. For example, when one couple was unable to attend the friends and family shoot last minute, he made sure we were still able to get our special photo later that day. David pays such close attention to detail while being so sweet to each person he captures.

Most importantly, you’ll have beautiful photos and videos to remember your special day!

David Perlman was absolutely amazing to work with from start to finish and just such a joyful human! We first worked with him for our engagement shoot in NYC, and then for our wedding in the forest in the Catskills. The photos came out incredible. He captured everything so beautifully and made the whole experience feel easy and personal.

David gave us such a high level of attention and was incredibly patient and kind through all of our requests and the inevitable ups and downs of wedding planning. Our entire family and wedding party loved him too. He’s definitely a high-end photographer, but he is worth every penny. You truly get what you pay for and we couldn’t recommend him more!

Our engagement photo shoot came out excellent. He was able to identify ways to make some photos traditional and some out of the box and fresh.
We met before our wedding to make a list of key shots for the wedding and he accomplished everything on the list.
On the welcome party/rehearsal dinner and on the wedding day, he took excellent photos all day. We have received many compliments. He took several photos of just us outside. Then, we did a photo shoot with our immediate families (37 including several young children). Those excellent photos will be treasured by our families. He did not miss a moment and he patiently helped us assemble a beautiful photo album. He enthusiastically helped review volumes of photos and then did a very nice layout.
Throughout all of the meetings and photo shoots, David brings a consistent smile and calm patient demeanor. We can't imagine the wedding photography process going More smoothly.

We were looking for someone to photograph our son’s bar mitzvah in a way that would truly capture the spirit of the day — the energy, the emotion, and the theatricality — all while keeping it warm and authentic. David delivered far beyond our expectations.
I’m hyper-critical by nature, especially when it comes to photography, so the bar was high. Let’s just say… we ended up with a 92-page album. Every image told a story.

If I could give 10 stars I would! He was beyond a pleasure to work with! I feel like we can call him our lifelong friend after our experience together! The photos starting from our engagement shoot through our wedding are ones we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We fully understood the direction we wanted for them and all the emotions within them! Would very highly recommend over and over again!

David made my husband and I feel very comfortable from our first call, to our engagement shoot, to our wedding day and through designing our wedding albums. He also made my family feel comfortable and our bridal parties. He was always ready with a joke to make us laugh. He also asked us questions throughout the process to make sure we were getting what we wanted on our wedding day. The photographs and video are also so stunningly beautiful. We get compliments all of the time on the photos that David took. He really captured how magical that day was for us.

TL;DR: Hire David! He will be the best money you will spend on your wedding - you will not be disappointed. He is a calming presence and his ability to cue and capture the perfect shots means the photographer/photos are two things you just don’t have to worry about at all throughout the wedding process.

The long version:
We were looking for a photographer who would not only capture the romance of the day, but could also capture the playfulness and drama (the good kind) that we hoped to incorporate into our wedding celebration. Prior to our first phone call, David was able to show us lots of galleries that evoked this photojournalist quality - these weren’t your standard wedding photos, but images that truly captured all of the emotions and small moments of the day and told a story.

Ever since our first phone call we have been totally obsessed with David. He understood our vision and was so enthused by all of the ideas we threw at him. David was proactive leading up to our engagement shoot, checking in with us daily because of the possibility of rain (he made rescheduling painless). We were both pretty nervous going into the shoot, but David immediately made us feel comfortable - he makes you feel as if you’ve always been each others’ best friends - and it ended up being such a fun afternoon. If you’re unsure how to act in front of a camera or you’re feeling anxious about the whole production, book David. The shots we got back confirmed David is a wizard behind the camera.

We ended up using a wedding coordinator from David’s recommendation list (book Lisa Brooks immediately!!), which was such an asset leading up to the wedding. Not only did David have impeccable communication and organization skills regarding the run of show, but his existing relationship with Lisa made things run so smoothly.

Before the wedding, we had a planning session with David regarding all of the shots we wanted to get. We also loved that he asked about family dynamics and if there was anything he’d need to navigate around to make our day run seamlessly.

On our wedding day, David and his second photog arrived on time and soon the fun began! They both got incredible detail shots of our decor, interiors, and accessories, and captured the most gorgeous moments from beginning to end. We felt so comfortable with David that we just got to enjoy the day and be present with one another. We completely trusted David to capture the right moments, and didn’t find ourselves worrying about how we looked.

Our wedding was less traditional in that instead of a reception and dancing, we rented out a restaurant for a dinner party following the ceremony. David got the most stunning photos of us and our guests in the restaurant, and even stayed through dinner to moonlight as a food photographer.

Following the wedding, David stayed in contact about the progress of our photos. He sent us some sneak previews on our honeymoon that we absolutely adored, and ended up delivering the entire gallery 7 weeks after the wedding. We appreciated how much time he spent with us going through images, taking our feedback, and creating the most gorgeous albums for us and our families. He does not overdo it with photo editing, but will happily make any edits you ask for.

With his amazing personality and superb quality of work, David made this an incredible experience start to finish. Highly, highly recommend.
