We could not have chosen a more perfect place for our destination wedding than The Berry Hill Resort and Convention Center. Our planning journey began nine months before the big day. After touring several venues in the Richmond area and feeling underwhelmed, we discovered Berry Hill—two hours away, but absolutely worth the drive. The pricing and amenities almost sounded too good to be true, so we fully expected to find a flaw when we visited. Instead, we fell completely in love.

The moment we walked into the mansion, we knew it was the place. It was even more beautiful in person—grand, elegant, and full of character. An added bonus was that everything was handicap accessible, which was essential for my dad and made the weekend comfortable and stress-free for him.

Our original coordinator was knowledgeable, friendly, laid-back, and made the entire planning process incredibly smooth. She even gave us her personal cell phone number and was always prompt, responsive, and reassuring. About three months before the wedding, she left the venue, which could have introduced stress, but Stephanie stepped in immediately. She introduced herself, explained her years of experience, and let us know we were in great hands. She was absolutely right.
Stephanie handled the final planning, rehearsal, ceremony, and reception with total precision. She anticipated every detail and managed each part of the wedding flawlessly. I felt confident every step of the way that nothing would be overlooked—and nothing was.

The staff overall was excellent. The hotel rooms were gorgeous and surprisingly affordable, making it easy for guests traveling from out of town. The event spaces were stunning and grand, offering an experience that felt luxurious without the luxury price tag. Truly—you get twice the wedding for half the price.

The grounds were beautiful for our mid-November outdoor wedding, and both the food at Darby’s Tavern and the reception were fantastic.
If you’re considering Berry Hill for your wedding: run, don’t walk, to book it. It exceeded every expectation and gave us the perfect wedding day. We could not be more grateful.

My new daughter in law was from this area and selected Berry Hill. I needed to plan a rehearsal dinner from 2 states away which was a little nerve wracking. One call to Leighanne was all it took. One conversation and I felt like we were friends! She offered suggestions and sent picture ideas to get the vision I was looking for. No stress, no surprises. A half hour before the outside rehearsal dinner we had a short summer shower. Leighanne and her team jumped into action like a well oiled machine. They got everything covered up and 15 minutes after the shower blew through we were ready to go. I received so many compliments about how nice the rehearsal dinner was. Working with the team at Berry Hill was a pleasure!

Berry Hill was fantastic. The overall venue was beautiful and the front circle was so pretty. Our coordinator, Leighann Shields, went out of her way to accommodate us. She had a backup plan for an inside wedding since it was beginning to rain. She had everything set up just in case. She met with us several times throughout the year before the wedding and allowed us to sample the food they served which was absolutely delicious. Berry Hill Resort provided a huge complimentary room in the historical mansion for our wedding night. Other family members were in another suite across the hall which made it really fun going back and forth getting dressed. Leighann was always just a text or phone away. She took care of everything we needed. She stayed with us the entire night making sure everything went smoothly. It was a perfect venue and Leighann and her staff were so accommodating & perfect. Additionally Leighann was very down to earth and lot fun, It was beautiful!!!!

A Dream Wedding Come True at Berry Hill Resort

Jamie and I were married at the beautiful Berry Hill Resort in South Boston, VA on June 12, 2025, and we truly could not have asked for a more perfect experience. From start to finish, working with Selena Thompson was an absolute dream. She is incredibly well-organized, calm under pressure, and endlessly accommodating. Her professionalism and grace made us feel supported every step of the way.

Selena went above and beyond to bring our vision to life—honestly, she helped us create a day that exceeded anything we could have imagined. Every detail was thoughtful, elegant, and perfectly executed. She handled everything with a calm confidence that allowed us to be fully present and joyful, knowing we were in the best hands.

We are beyond grateful for Selena and the staff at Berry Hill. If you’re planning a wedding and want an experience that’s personal, seamless, and truly special, we highly recommend Selena Thompson and this stunning venue. It was everything we hoped for—and so much more.

Worked with Selena Thompson from the tour to the big day. She was very professional and made herself available all along the way. She stayed each night for the rehearsal dinner and wedding day until last guests left. She helped clean up on Sunday to be sure nothing was left behind . Venue was a stunning photo shoot as well . Rooms have all you need . Spa was great. Would recommend .

My son recently got married at Berry Hill and I can’t recommend it enough! Stephanie and Selena were amazing! So attentive to each detail and made the day run smoothly. The venue itself is just perfect for a family weekend celebrating a wedding or any other event. Once you check in, there’s no need to leave until you check out - everything you could need is on site. Highly recommended!!!

We had an excellent experience with Berry Hill. All the staff acted with professionalism and coordinated everything beautifully! We had multiple events and we were able to have each on site in unique, elegant venues. The rehearsal dinner was held in the boxwood garden, complete with lights strong across the trees. The bridal brunch was in the mansion in the orangerie. The pickleball tournament was at the courts, with a tent set up and seats and waters in a cooler. The wedding was on the lawn in front of the mansion. Cocktail hour was in the mansion at the elegant library bar, and the reception was in the magnificent ballroom. Everything went off without a hitch. The food was amazing, especially at the reception. The fillet was the best I’ve ever had!! We couldn’t have been happier!

I would recommend Berry Hill over and over again! Stephanie was an amazing coordinator and answered any questions day or night! We had many out of state guests and they loved that venue had hotels on site!

As a vendor, I travel to many venues across the state. Berry Hill Resort is definitely on my short list of venues I recommend. This place is gorgeous, and I always get sense of peace when walking outside. The service and communication is thorough and I’m always greeted with a friendly smile. If you are in the process of venue searching, this one would be a place to check out!

Already being familiar with Berry Hill and the surrounding area, my husband and I decided to book our April 2024 wedding at Berry Hill. From the first inquiry, Phillip Gardner was extremely knowledgeable and responsive - we immediately knew we could trust Phillip and Berry Hill for our special day. Berry Hill is unique because everything is in one place - for the guests staying in the Hotel, they were able to park their cars and not have to worry about driving anywhere until after our "farewell brunch" on Sunday morning. The location is great for vendors, too, because you have the option to explore VA and NC based vendors. Berry Hill is an incredible wedding venue!
