"When I tell you that I researched over 90 different venues in the VA/MD/DC/PA/WV area that matched my husband and I's parameters when we were looking for a wedding venue, it should give you a pretty good idea what kind of competition Avon Hill Lodge was up against when we chose them for our March 2023 wedding. I had been dreaming about my wedding day for 20 years and had a very specific vision of what that would look like. Before I even stepped foot at Avon Hill, I was crossing my fingers that my husband and I would love it in person as much as we did online. The barn is absolutely stunning. The views at sunset? Out of this world! Getting the venue the entire weekend, getting to stay on site without panicking over transportation, cleaning up all your decor at midnight, or having to rush to see your closest friends and family before they head back to their respective hotels? Sign me up! But Sarah and Jocelyn really give you a sense of the soul of the place. From the initial emails, in person meetings, and site visits, they were always so pleasant, kind, and quick to answer any and all questions I had. I felt like I was planning this event with extended family! They were so incredibly accommodating and you could tell they genuinely care about each and every couple they have on site! My whole wedding party felt so comfortable all weekend. Your wedding day is gone in the blink of an eye, so every precious hour over the fire pit making smores, or drinking a cup of coffee with your siblings the day before the insanity starts is not to be overlooked! We even wound up booking the main lodge Thursday night, giving us precious time with some of our family and time to get settled in.
We are already trying to figure out how to come back for more family reunions and other events in the future, just to experience the Avon Hill hospitality again! "

Avon Hill was the setting of the wedding of my dreams! We opted for the celebrate and stay package and rented out all of the lodging to stay with our bridal party for the weekend. The lodge was a great location for an intimate rehearsal dinner on Friday night. The location is stunning with great mountain views, a beautiful deck for cocktail hour, and a stunning wooden barn for the reception. The venue is easily utilized by wedding vendors and provides many great photography options. A huge shout out to Jocelyn who was an AMAZING venue manager and went above and beyond to help with all the crazy personal touches that my family included on our big day. She is SO kind, fun, and easy to work with!! By the end of the experience, she felt like family!

After having our wedding at Avon Hill, we cannot imagine going anywhere else. In addition to the barn, we rented the various housing properties to have friends and family stay on property. Avon Hill allowed us to have a friends and family reunion while throwing our dream wedding in an amazing location. The location's beauty cannot be understated, the mountain views are incredible. We had great service from the full Avon Hill team before and during the wedding. Sarah gave us an amazing tour, Christine answered all of our questions leading up to the event, often within a few hours time, and Mark helped us have a smooth check in and check out experience. Overall, cannot recommend highly enough. We have joked that we want to rent the property out every five years or so to recreate the weekend. Thank you Avon Hill team!

My husband and I had our wedding take place at Avon Hill last weekend (05/29/2021). Even though it was cloudy and rained, Avon Hill and their staff helped to make our wedding absolutely perfect. We rented out the entire place, including all the lodging options for our family and close friends to stay on site which made our wedding feel almost camp-like, which is exactly what we wanted. It was so wonderful to have everything be in one place and be in our own isolated bubble from the outside world. The staff at Avon Hill is extremely helpful and accommodating, they have a wide variety of decor on site and are so eager to help. Would 100% recommend them to anyone searching in the Central Virginia area, they were perfect.

Avon Hill is the perfect venue for a wedding weekend! I would give Avon Hill & Bruce’s Barn 10 stars if I could, and would highly recommend to anyone. We unfortunately had to pivot the day of our wedding due to inclement weather, and I was terrified that it would ruin our outdoor ceremony & cocktail reception. The team at Avon Hill were amazing throughout, and we moved all the events into the barn. Afterwards, we were told by almost every attendee that they were amazed with how versatile the barn was to accommodating all events given both weather and covid restrictions. The barn was a perfect venue to be able to host both the reception and ceremony (although that was not the initial plan)—we even were able to put the band upstairs in the loft, and it was a huge hit! If it hadn’t rained, the venue offers soooo much beautiful outdoor space for any type of event. We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the Lodge and Balcony (which was also perfect) and our wedding party stayed overnight at the lodge and other houses on-site. Everyone in our wedding party was so impressed by the layout—and it honestly made our wedding so memorable to have everyone together for the entire weekend. We loved the ability to play yard games and use the firewood provided for bonfires. We were trying to be budget conscious, and although the rooms seemed pricey at first glance, it ends up being so much more convenient and less expensive than dealing with transportation for the weekend. It also created such an amazing bonding experience for our wedding party, and truly made the weekend incredible. The layout of the barn is phenomenal and also worked perfectly with all the COVID-19 restrictions, even despite the change of venue plans because of weather. The venue also has a wide array of “extras” they provided (so much wedding decor!) and the staff were so easy to work with (as well as responsive)...especially leading up to the wedding and our daily/weekly emails asking questions. Kudos to Sarah and the Avon Hill team for the beautiful wedding venue and service! We couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect.

I could not write enough to convey how happy we were with our wedding at Avon Hill Lodge this summer. We had a micro-wedding with our immediate family and stayed on the property for an extended weekend with our loved ones and had the most incredible experience.

The property itself is incredible. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the homes are beautifully decorated and pristinely cleaned. Our group stayed in the lodge and the tenant house and we had plenty of space for privacy. The pool is beautiful and we so enjoyed spending our days swimming and playing lawn games. The hiking trails are amazing and the forest surrounding the area was awesome to explore. Everyone on the Avon Hill team was amazing, kind and responsive. Sarah helped us plan and was very communicative leading up to the event, and on the property they were quick to respond to all of our questions.

Our micro-wedding was a dream. Sarah and the team at AH helped us find local vendors that far exceeded our expectations. We had our ceremony outside and the view was stunning - our pictures look like they came straight from a fairy tale. We used Bruce's Barn for cocktail hour, and though we wanted our wedding outside, I wish we could have spent more time in the barn, it is truly amazing, and I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to hold a larger wedding in that space. The venue is very flexible with where you want to hold you ceremony and there are so many options to fit the needs of every couple and family.

Our family was stunned with how amazing every aspect of our wedding weekend was and we feel so grateful to have found Avon Hill. I cannot recommend this location enough and we can't wait to return.

I still can't get over the fact that Avon Hill has it all. The sweeping vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the rustic chic barn (with air!), the greenery for ideal intimate wedding portraits and landscapes perfect for large wedding party and family shots; it was truly an honor to find such a gem of a wedding weekend location. It's not just a ceremony site, as the buildings on property can host dozens of guests overnight. The lodging on site at Avon Hill is delightful and huge! My entire family had to travel into Charlottesville for our wedding last month and Avon Hill made it an easy-logistics weekend for out of town guests! We felt like we were on our own private retreat vacation; it was perfect and had something for everyone. My dad wondered the nature trails while our cousins played in the pool and rafted on the river. Our grandparents enjoyed the relaxing leather furniture in the lodge while our siblings played lawn games outside. We were able to cook full family meals in the beautiful kitchen and everyone kept telling us how comfortable the beds were in their rooms! I'm going back as often as I can, because Avon Hill now holds some of my most dear memories from our wedding ceremony, reception, and weekend of family bonding. Avon Hill, as the title suggests, looks out onto beautiful views of the Rockfish River valley and not so distant Blue Ridge mountains. The property includes some lodging which allows for close family and friends to stay on site for your special day. The views coupled with a rebuilt barn (shipped from Canada) will take your breath away and coupled with on-site lodging make this one spectacularly unique venue.

This was such a great venue for a wedding! We had our ceremony offsite and then had our cocktail and reception in Bruce’s Barn. The space, lighting and amenities were great! The venue manager was so helpful and was there the whole night to help if needed. It was the perfect place for us!
