So my wedding is in 4 months and I haven't even sent out one invitation. I have no idea what kind of invites I want to use. Is it cheaper to make them myself?

As far as cost, it depends on what style you want. I am getting mine from www.vistaprint.com
I can find some other sites for you if you want.
I am sorry but I dont know much about DIY invites.

Aida I looked on there and i don't know where to start. How do I look for wedding invitations on vistaprint.com?
Will I have to print them myself?
My colors are red and black. I am going to look on there I keep hearing great things about that site. thanks a bunch

If you go to Joann fabrics or even walmart they have DIY invites. Did you talk to your FH about doing the heart border and doing the true love never dies on them?

I know what your theme is.... you could try doing a faint Ed H. design in the background and then doing your print on top of it, or on a vellum overlay. Try calling a printing company and seeing if they can work out a design with you

I planned my entire wedding in 3 months so you have 1 more month than I even started with lol Invites don't need to go out until a month and a half before 2 at the most and earlier and people will forget or not want to send the RSVP in because they don't know what is going on that far in advance. I made my invites and they looked like a $7 a piece invite but probably only cost $2 at the most probably more near $1 or less. So ye making them yourself costs lest but is very time consuming and you need to be detail oriented and creative in the first place because fi you aren't they will look cheap

My best advice for you is to check out creations by christi. She does amazing work and it is really affordable. Her website is http://www.creations-by-christi.com/ Just let you know that Kristy with Ultimate Dream Veils sent you and she will give you a great deal. Christi is an amazing person to work with and she is very talented.

I'm getting married three weeks before you and don't have my invites yet either! Actually, I have them picked out and they're ones with a photo of us on it, but I keep having to rescheduled our engagement pictures because of the nasty flu going around.

You can keep things simple for yourself by going to your local stationary store and printing them on your computer. Papyrus has beautiful stationary, as does your local Staples surprisingly.
Congratulations and best wishes!

i had found this on vistaprint before(i found the STD nagnets actually), and had posted it for you...it's a letterhead, but since you're doing a "funner" kind of theme, you could search the site for the post card style like this...it's under the searcg term "tattoo" and it looks awesome ;)

you could use the above, as a letterhead type of invitation...i know it's not ideal to some, but here's the link for the matching business cards(also available as magnets, i believe), and you could use the bizz cards for STDs. you're getting married a week after me, and i just ordered my STDs from VP last week...i got 25 magnets for free, plus $7 shipping and handling...here's the link for the matching cards. you can also do a search by type of business, and first you go under arts, then body art ;)

I think that if you are worried about people not being able to attend, I would shoot them an email to give them the heads up. As far as invitations are concerned, DIY is definately less expensive but more time consuming so you will have to weigh time vs. expense. http://www.invitationconsultants.com/samplewording.aspx?p_subcategory=196 is a great website for helping you decide what writing you want on them, whichever you choose. I do custom digital invitations for my clients. They are relatively simple and you can send them to vistaprint, fedex/kinkos or have them printed on photo paper. And if in a crunch you could always mail them via email to your computer savvy friends. Good luck!

Trina,
I went to Michaels, got a box of 50 invitations with envelopes that came with RSVP cards with envelopes and printed them myself at home ... well, with my mom & sister. It was easier than I thought, .. and i'm not so computer savy...

Let me know if you need any help if you get them. They were priced decently and turned out beautiful. Didnt even look home-made.

When I was married in 2007, I bought a DIY pack from ACMoore and used a coupon to save even more. I was on a really tight budget and was able to print them at a graphic studio that I work with for free. However, I have since run in to many ladies that make them by hand and they look amazing. If you are under a tight budget, I'd recommend DIY. But having someone else do them for you, especially by hand, can take off a lot of the stress and worrying that can often happen when doing them yourself. Good luck!

If you're concerned that people will not be able to attend, you could send a save-the-date to everyone via e-vite. They have a nigty little program that keeps track of the responses, send reminders, etc. Very cool, and free.
You don't really need to send the actual invites more than 8 weeks before the wedding.
If you are interested I have a friend that does calligraphy for invitations at very reasonable prices.
Have a wonderful wedding and a long and happy marriage.
