Sunday wedding
My husband and I found a lovely place but, it was too expensive so we decided to have the wedding on a Sunday. It would be the Sunday before Memorial day so mostly everyone would have that monday off. I don't want to offend anyone but the price went down a great deal. Any opinions would help!

We booked our wedding for a Sunday because we saved over $1000 no one has complained at all. Most people are coming on the Saturday and spending the night in the city and some are taking the Monday off. I say go for it all the ones who really love you both will be there.

It will be fine. There are a lot more Sunday weddings than you may think... most of them for the same reason. At least, like you said, most people will have Monday off that weekend, so that should help. It will be wonderful. It is YOUR day, so it is important you get the things you want.

Sunday weddings are becoming common. I've decorated many of them. If you're not having a church wedding you can have it any time. If you're having a church wedding you need to work around the regular service schedule. If your guests are churchgoers, have it in the afternoon. It should be fine.

I too am having my wedding that weekend and recently chaged it to that Friday. Ive learned that the people who care the most will make any and all plans to share your special day with you. At first I explained my reasoning to people as to why our date changed but after getting so many positive responses from my loved ones Ive learned to just simply say our date is.....we really hope that you can make it.

Do it!!!! Just be sure that you have your ceremony confirmed first. My nutty self jumped on the reception hall first thing for Sunday July 3, 2011 for the same reason... it's cheaper and everyone will still come because they have Monday off. You said you're not having a church wedding, so just make sure your officiant is willing to do it on a Sunday. :-)

personally I like your date, but I could be biased ;)
I think like some pp said, ppl who love you will show up. I'm planning to send out Save The Dates at the end of the month or in December since May 30th is part of a holiday weekend, that way people who want to be there won't make plans. Good Luck in your planning.

Sunday weddings are not all that uncommon. I too had my wedding over memorial day weekend and that helped some guests be able to come since they had more travel time. Couple things to keep in mind...1, send your save the dates out early since this is a big weekend for travel. You want to have guests plan to come to your wedding before they make other plans and 2, understand that some people have standing plans for memorial day and will choose not to come and you shouldn't take offense to that. One other thought, you are saving on the reception venue, but before you book, you should check with your other vendors to make sure they are not increasing their rates because of the holiday. Happy planning!

I had my wedding on a glorious Sunday morning!! We had the right price as well and I couldnt be happier. I had just as good of a time as if it was Saturday night and we were able to relax some before we left for the honeymoon the next morning since it was an early wedding. It wasn't a holiday weekend but it worked out well.

We booked ours on a Sunday as well and yes it was a money saver. I think, after reading several past posts, it will be okay.

I wanted a Sunday wedding... but due to a number of Veto's from my Accountant (mother) I decided just to go with a Saturday after noon wedding around 3 and a reception to immediately follow like 4 or so..... I still saved money because my wedding is in a "OFF" season time.... so I'm still saving money everywhere... but more power too you.... IF your FAMILY his wishing you the BEST it shouldn't matter what day of the week you choose..... GOOD luck....

I would of loved to have a Sunday wedding. It wasn't till we signed on the dotted line that we found out that it would have been a lot cheaper to have a Sunday wedding then to have a Saturday and by then it was too late.

More and More couples are choosing Sunday Weddings and with yours, how much fun will that be with July 4th holiday! Send out "Save the Dates" for this one to allow guest to reserve the time off if they do work on holidays and for travel and hotels, book those blocks at hotels early since it is a holiday weekend.
Good luck!
