I need a Catering Service!
Help!

Every caterer I find is soooo expensive!

I don't need a huge package, I'm happy with a buffet. Our wedding and receptions will be at the beach, actually, ON the beach, so I don't see everyone sitting around all day. We'll probably strip down to beach wear and run in the water afterwards if its hot enough!

Every company wants to charge me for hors d'oeuvre's...and I really don't think I need it. I want an alcohol-free bar (we'll be in the heat, near water, and with kids present...so I don't find alcohol safe) and just some good food. I really don't want to go over $5k for 100 guests. We're normally pizza and beer kinda people anyway (the older family members...not so much). So I do want a pretty presentation, but I don't want to go to the extreme.

Does anyone have any advice?

Are there any local restaurants in the area that you guys both really enjoy? Maybe you can get them to provide some food...instead of the traditional wedding caterer route. To me, that would be a neat way to provide your guests with food that both can fulfill your requirements while also being meaningful (e.g. you can tell all your guests it's being catered by your favorite restaurant).

Just a thought...

You know what...your idea is so simple...I don't know why I didn't even think of that! I just called one of our favorite restaurants...and already its been so much easier to deal with. Thank you so much, Timothy!

I want something casual too. I've decided to do a BBQ with ribs, chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, etc. In my area, we have several BBQ caterers that will either pre-cook everything, or actually do the BBQ at the site. Do you have Famous Daves in your area? I believe they will do the whole BBQ thing for about 30.00 or less per person.

If you're into BBQ, call Lucille's. They catered my brother's wedding. They brought all the side dishes and cooked the meats on-site. They brought it, they cooked, and they cleaned up and packaged the leftovers!!

I am a photographer in LA, and I have worked with an awesome caterer on a number of events. As You Like It Catering, info@asyoulikeit-la.com or 310.278.6365, talk to Betty, Libby or Denise. They are a lot of fun, and will design a custom menu based on your ideas, budget, etc. Their food and presentations are always stellar. Good luck and congratulations!

I think thats a workable budget. If its at the beach I would recommend a couple of simple food stations. Sliders? Quesadillas? Panini Sandwich? Easy to eat fun food keeping the kids in mind. Depending on where the beach is I think I might be able to help. Sounds like its going to be a great wedding! www.huntingtoncateringcompany.com
