We are in the same boat. My FMIL is a hair dresser and offered to do my hair/makeup for the wedding, but has not participated in any of the planning thus far. So I dont feel confident counting on her to do my hair. I did not budget in to HIRE someone do my hair, so I am feaking out not knowing what I can do to my hair myself. I googled a few things, but everything looks so hard to do.

we have the same hair, mines past my shoulders though. go look at my inspiration boards i have about 5 or 6 photos of hairstyles i really like, they are all down-do's and curly. i found them all on google, most of them are celebrities. i also suggest going to a local walmart and looking through the magazines, i got my prom hairstyle from a "wedding hairstyles" magazine.

Google it! Like Heather says. You can google wedding updos or partial updos, wedding hairstyles, etc. Then just look at the images. You can also find lots of pic in the photos section of WW. Just click on photos then on hair and you can narrow it down from there.
