Cayman Islands
Hi,

I am currently planning my wedding in the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean in December this year. I am using Celebrations (www.celebrationsltd.com) a wedding planning company to do the design and decor. So far they have been brilliant and the planner they have assigned to me has been amazing. I am still unsure about the dress though. I would love to hear from anyone who has any advice on the style of wedding dress i should use for a beach wedding?

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I think for beach weddings the best look is a slip dress or cocktail length. Loose hair and comfortable sheets are also key!
Congratulations!

Hi Lisa,
I got married on December 30, 2008 in Grand Cayman at the Grand Old House! The dress I wore was the Nicole Miller cross-back dress -- so comfortable and just enough "casual elegance." There was a small train but it bustled up nicely. Also, the dresses at Nicole Miller are so affordable!

You can see a pic of my dress here: http://www.edressme.com/nicole-miller-bridal-01.html.

Congrats on your wedding -- we had a blast in Cayman!!

I think long and light, since it will be warm. I wouldn't go with heavy and alot of bead work. Strapless, I would put my hair up. I have noticed with beach wedding that the wind does blow! Will effect pictures.

Congrats!! Gena

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Caymans Islands is wonderful :)

I had a destination wedding with a beach ceremony in Cancun. I bought a Maggie Sottero dress. http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=S5005

You want to make sure your dress is not too heavy (because you should carry it on the plane instead of checking it in as a luggage) and easy to walk around in. Since I had a beach wedding, I had platform sandals for the ceremony and then switched to heels for the reception.

Hi Lisa,
How exciting to be marrying in the Cayman Islands. My husband and I are going there in June and I can't wait. I am a photographer and the dress is the most wonderful part of the day for me! For destination weddings all of the brides I have shot wore sheath-like slip dresses. I think choosing something you will be comfortable in is very important. You will be walking on the beach for pictures and possibly you might like to choose a dress that can take getting wet and still hold up. Is your wedding going to be a formal or casual beach theme? Under my weddings gallery there is a featured wedding from Puerto Rico where the bride had a gorgeous dress that was very easy for her to move around in:

Here is a great site to see some samples of dresses that are 'beach friendly". Have so much fun!

Beach wedding dresses are offered on Sandals Resort web site. They host hundreds of weddings each year and have begun selling wedding dresses, it worth checking out.
Good Luck!

I am also planning a wedding late 2010. We will be getting married at a private villa but am having trouble choosing a videographer. Any one have any suggestions?

As for the dress, i am in love with JCrew's wedding dress.
