Card Basket??
Does anyone know of any cute/creative container or way to make a container for guests to put their cards into at the reception...I'm completely stumped...

After reading an article and also seeing another on the news about couple's having the cards stolen, it might be wise to get something more secure, like a sealed box with a slot. Some of these couples lost alot of cash and gift cards.

I think these are the cutest things ever and are probably pretty easy to make yourself... I am probably using one just like this for my cards...

When we were married we put our book girl in charge of the cards. She kept them right next to her in her purse on her shoulder the whole time so that nobody was tempted to take them. It worked out really well.

Or if you really want a container to put them in, just make sure you put somebody in charge of guarding them at all times!

At our wedding, we just got a simple basket and glued sunflowers around it. It turned out really cute.

It all depends on your theme, we are having a rustic garden reception. I got an antique bird cage and cut a couple wires so cards would fit in but not out and decorated it with flowers. It is so cute! pretty cheap too, found it at an antique store.

Not sure if you came up with an idea yet, but I too had this same dilemma. I didn't want to spend $40 on a cardboard box that would get used once. So, my FH and I went to Michael's (they usually have 40% off coupons all the time) and got a wooden chest in the section that has wooden products that are ready for you to sand down and paint to your liking. So, we will sand it down and paint it in our colors. All we have to do is widen the wood slats on the top just a little bit. With the coupon we got it for like $30 and will be able to reuse it after the wedding. We'll give it to our kids when we have them for a small toy chest. So, if you have a Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or store that is similar, you could always look there.

Congrats on your engagement! There are a lot of great ways to make a card basket yourself, but if you do not feel up to it. Feel free to check out my site, I have a couple on there, or if you have something specific in mind we can make it to match your wedding theme and colors. http://www.budgetbride.vpweb.com/FlowergirlBasketsPillows.html

Something you can do and if it's in your theme is buy some of the sticker paper that Avery Makes. Take a big cardboard box for mailing and wrap it like a gift and cut a slot in the top and add some pretty ribbon around it. It will make it look like a gift that possibly one of your guests brought for you. It probably wouldn't even take all that long to make. The birdcages and baskets are nice but everyone is right, go with a secure enclosed box and have someone guard it with their lives for you so that way nothing gets stollen out of it.

On "Your Special Day" whatever "Cute/Creative Container" you use for guests to put their cards into at "Your Reception" ... I urge you to have one trusted person in charge of that container for security purposes ... This way "ALL" can enjoy your "Special Day" without any issues of "Where is the Container Box" ...
Wishing you ALL the BEST ... Enjoy !!!
