As a child I always felt “different.” In pre-school we were asked to draw what we wanted to be when we grew up. I drew a squiggle of green and said I wanted to be a broccoli princess (actually this is kind of a lie. It’s actually something else more vague and impossible as a career but still related to broccoli. I just can’t recall what it is right now.).  I became obsessed with the Beatles when I was 8 years old. When I was 10 the X-Files was my favorite show. In high school I was more interested in history (I interned as a costumed interpreter at Old Sturbridge Village and briefly considered somehow becoming a Civil War re-enactor) and music than drinking or partying. A lot of times I was frustrated at this – I couldn’t help being who I was, but it often put me at the bottom of the popularity food chain.

Thankfully now I’m grateful I stuck to my guns and stubbornly refused to be anyone else but me. As a result of all that, today I am independent, fearless, carefree, and joyously happy! Every day I live my life in the awesomest way I can. I meet people from all walks of life. I embrace different perspectives and lifestyles. I understand what it’s like to be different. I try not to take a single moment for granted – and this makes life one great big adventure!

I try bring a unique perspective to everything I photograph. Every person, couple, wedding, and event is different, and this needs to be celebrated!
